Lodar bellowed in pain as his leg buckled. He fell to one knee, bringing his head down to a more accessible height. Gawter didn't hesitate. He leaped upward, using Lodar's bent knee as a launching point, and drove his sword into the junction where the giant's neck met his shoulder.
The enchanted blade punched through the stone-like hide, finding the softer core within. Lodar's bellows cut off abruptly as critical systems were severed. The giant toppled forward, crashing to the plaza stones with a sound like a small building collapsing.
He wasn't dead—beings like Lodar were incredibly difficult to kill—but he was out of the fight. Gawter pulled his sword free and turned to assess the other battles.
