Chapter 41 - Blood is in the air

POV ???

I don't know how long I've been walking, but I knew I couldn't stop. I had to find chief, he understands me.

"Hey, you look lost, little lady." I turned to the sound of the voice, and I saw three people.

Two of them were men, and one was a woman. The man who looked like the leader was big, taller than me.

"Yes, I'm lost, I need to find someone." I said. "Can you help me find him?"

"Sure, we can find him for you, for a price." He said, licking his lips. While the woman looked annoyed.

"Boss, she doesn't seem worth much, we should find someone-." She was then struck by the large man, with annoyance on his face.

Ah, she received his love. How nice, he must really love her. "Shut up, what I say goes, and we're taking her!"

"How lucky, he really loves you." What I said caused them to look at me with strange looks, was he not showing his love?

"What?" The woman asked, holding her cheek from the love she received.

"He really loves you." I repeated. "How lucky, I wish chief gave me his love." They slowly began to walk away, but before they could do anything, I pulled out a small knife, cutting the palm of my hand.

"Let me shower you all with my love." The next second, I cut open the palm of my hand.

....

Ah, I forgot that I wasn't supposed to do that, oh well. I can always tell chief that I was defending myself.

At

"I'll shower you with my love soon, so wait for me." I said while continuing walk through this strange city.

POV EROS

It's been a few days since the expedition, and things have gotten better for our base since Summer has started to live with us.

Not only did she fix the power problem, but she began to fix everything. Ranging from the computers, lights, piping, and even the lower floors as well.

The only condition I had kept was giving her sweets every time she finished her work. Which wasn't too bad since I work at Random Play.

As of right now, though, I was in my new office, dealing with paperwork that piled up while I was gone.

How it happened, I don't want to know. All I knew was that I had stayed up late to work on the papers.

And today was no different, I was currently working on a report that mentioned the budgeting.

And I had to admit, we were slowly losing money from the lack of danger back at home. I could only sigh at the sight, not knowing how to fix this.

"Eros, you look like you're about to pass out." Looking up, I saw Belle standing to my side with a worried look.

Belle has been visiting once in a while, sometimes bringing snacks, while other times bringing some movies.

She didn't have a hard time fitting in, since she was a social butterfly, constantly asking about Bai Yi's jobs, and watching shows with Summer.

She even invited Hella and Hecate to hang out. Hecate was hesitant at first, not wanting to leave my side.

But when I told her I would be okay, she nodded and went with both of them. It was good for Hecate to have a normal day, she deserved it.

As I continued to recall the past few days, I felt something poking my face. I then snapped out of the memory and realized Belle was closer.

"You really need a day off." Belle then shifted a strand of my hair behind my ear, and our eyes met.

I had to admit, the days felt better when she was around, calm even. "How about we go to Lumina Square?"

Hearing this, Belle smiled at my suggestion and began to drag me towards the door. "What are we waiting for?! I'll show you my favorite spots!"

"Oho? Chief, you're sinking your claws into poor Belle? How scandalous." Bai Yi commented, waving a makeshift fan with a deck of cards.

"Boss, take ten." K.K said, causing Bai Yi to slam her fists on the table.

"HOW?! I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HELP ME WIN!" The two of them were playing a card game with Che, Eve, and Crache.

"Sorry, but I want to focus on training, you've been spending our money on food again." She replied.

"The betrayal!" Bai Yi wailed, but we soon left before I was dragged into their little game.

"Is she always like that?" Belle asked, somewhat concerned at Bai Yi's actions.

"In a way, somewhat, she tends to focus more on promoting her business than messing around." I replied.

"Must be really interesting." She giggled before rushing forward, not before grabbing my hand and dragging me forward.

"Come on, we're losing daylight!" I smiled at her eagerness and followed her to her car. Which she then turned on as soon as I closed the door.

"So, what's the plan when we arrive?" I asked, watching the buildings pass by.

"We're going shopping!" Hearing this, I smiled at the idea. It was something I've been holding off on since the papers prevented me from going.

"Well, I can always use Bai Yi's money." I said and pulled out a small bag. "She does owe me."

MEANWHILE

"K.K!" She shouted, tossing random things behind her. "Where's my wallet?!"

"I gave it to chief!" She shouted back.

"WHAT?! WHY?!" She poked her head out of her room, staring at K.K who was busy doing push-ups.

"Chief paid for the ticket, remember?" Bai Yi opened her mouth, but then closed it at the memory.

"Fair, but he'd better buy me something when he gets back." She said and soon walked away. "Clean my room for me!"

"Damnit." K.K sighed and stopped what she was doing.

BACK WITH THE TWO MC'S

"Did she really give you that?" Belle asked while turning down a street.

"That's what K.K told me, but I doubt that's the case." I shrugged. "I still took it, though, since I did help her."

"Oh yeah, you did." Belle hummed. We then spent the next few minutes talking about each other's lives before we met with one another.

And I have to admit, it was nice. Though I was intrigued when Belle mentioned the H.D.D. "You and your brother made that device?"

"Well, not entirely, we had some help from our teacher." The second she mentioned her teacher, her happy smile turned into a sad one.

"She taught us many things when it came to ether and the hollow, heck, she was like a mother to us." Hearing this, I could only blame myself for bringing up the past.

I then decided to change gears, hoping to lighten the mood. "I'm assuming you'll be choosing what I wear?"

"Of course, I've got a good sense of fashion!" She puffed, looking confident in front of me.

"Then I'll trust your judgement." After driving a few more minutes, we soon arrived at Lumina Square.

After arriving at Lumina Square, Belle dragged me towards the only shop. Unsurprisingly, it was the same spot Nicole took me to get some new clothing.

"Welcome, what can I help you with?" A staff member asked, however, she was ignored as Belle dragged me past her, pulling me to where the clothes were located.

The second she pushed me inside the changing room, she rushed back to the staff member and grabbed her by the shoulders.

"Suits, casual, sleepwear, workout, all clothing." She said, her eyes shaking, and she was breathing heavily.

"I, of course, ma'am, right away!" The staff then ran away, pulling out a phone and began to type.

"Belle, is everything alright?" I asked, peaking my head out of the curtain.

"Yup, everything's good." She then pushed a small pile of clothes into my arms. "Wear them."

Once I pulled back, I looked at the clothes she gave me. A three-piece suit, black with a blue shirt that matches the color of my hair.

"Well, I do owe her." I sighed and soon began to suffer. Outside the room, Belle was waiting to see how I looked.

"Ohhh, maybe he'll turn out hot, no, maybe gentlemanly." She giggled. The second she heard the sound of the curtain being moved, she rushed into the room.

The second she saw me, her jaw dropped. The suit was a perfect fit, not only that, her eyes saw me like a character from a game.

"Not bad, is there anything else that I'm going to try on?" I said while adjusting the cuffs, not noticing that Belle was blushing.

"Beautiful." She said aloud, and the next second, she shook her head. "Y-you look h- I mean se- I mean ta- nice! You look nice!"

"Thank you. Is there anything else you have for me?"

BELLE POV

Why did I stumble so badly? He'll think I'm a weirdo, but it's just the start, so there's a chance to salvage the situation at hand.

If he were a character in a game, I wouldn't act like this. But it's reality, so I have to act normal, not when I'm in my room playing dating sims.

"Y-yeah, I have more with me." I then passed the clothes to him and saw the curtains closed.

The second they did, I leaned against the nearest wall for support. I expected him to look nice, not beautiful.

'Calm down, Belle. It's just one type of clothing, maybe he could look normal in others.' I thought, fanning myself to cool down.

While cooling myself down, I heard the sound of curtains being moved. I took a second to prepare myself and then turned to look at him.

'God, Buddha, whatever holy being that led this moment, I thank you.' I thought to myself, giving thanks to whatever divine being that brought him to me.

[I mean, she's not entirely wrong about calling the author a god, since he did in fact create this whole new timeline.]

"So, how does it look?" He asked, wearing black swim shorts, with a white short-sleeved dress shirt that hung loosely.

The top three buttons were open, where I could see his chest, and I soon noticed a few more women were sneaking peeks at him.

"You look nice, now try this." I said and closed the curtain, glaring at the women who were looking in our direction.

After upgrading his wardrobe, we paid for the clothes and spent some time around Lumina Square.

"So, the entire Whitestone group used the furnace as a grill?" I asked, hearing the stories that Eros told.

"Yup, and I took part in it a few times. The food was delicious, but I got caught by Nightingale for it." I was honestly surprised.

He had a lot of women around him most of the time, yet not a single one of them tried to claim him.

Guess having your memory wiped has some perks. He's too dense to realize a few of them are… interested, so to speak.

Though I'm still worried that they'll come find us in the future.

More specifically, Eros. He's really kind, wanting to help them all, giving a home, and acting like a dad to a few of the sinners.

While I kept thinking to myself, I soon noticed he wasn't by my side. Instead, he was making his way to where a crowd was gathering.

"H-hey, wait up!" I called out and rushed towards his side. By the time I did, I turned to where he was looking.

Only for him to pull me close and cover my eyes. "Trust me, you don't want to see this."

"It can't be that ba-." I regret not listening to him. What I saw was something that came out of a horror film.

Three corpses could be seen, all covered with the same kind of red crystal. I had to admit, I thought it'd be something tame, like a damaged building.

Instead, I see three murders from something that shouldn't be possible. And it led me to one conclusion, a sinner was near.

POV EROS

This is bad.

I didn't expect to see another sinner so soon, but I guess that's what happens when I tempt fate.

Luckily, it was easy to identify which sinner it was. I just wish she hadn't caused a scene.

But I was asking for too much, and now I was paying the price for it. "Belle, we need to go. Now."

Hearing me call out to her, Belle snapped out of her thoughts and nodded, sticking close to me as we left the area.

While leaving, I pulled out my phone to contact Summer, who picked up at the first ring.

"I'm assuming you're calling because you found a sinner?" She asked, with the sound of typing in the background.

"How soon can you meet with us?" I asked while arriving at Belle's car. But before we could enter, the sound of a car horn was heard.

The design was sleek and looked like a limousine, though the length was shorter. The door opened, and inside were Che and Summer.

"Sup, Chief, got this thing street legal with a few surprises." She said with a grin.

"Can't believe you got me working as a limo driver." Che yawned, already tired from nothing.

"Okay, I'm totally jealous." Belle said as she looked inside, seeing the leather seats. "How can you do this in just a day?"

"Well, more like a day and a half. Had to make sure that the power was just right." She said with pride.

"Anyways, hop on in, I can have a drone take your car back if you want." She said, looking at Belle.

"That would be great, I always wanted to ride a limo." Belle then pulled the door handle, jumping inside to sit on one of the four chairs.

"Ohhhhhhhh~." She began to melt against the seat, enjoying the soft touch. "I don't want to get up."

I only smiled and soon stepped in as well. As soon as I closed the door, the car began to drive away, and the windows soon darkened.

"So, which sinner is it, chief?" Summer asked while playing with her cube.

"MBCC-S-103, A-rank sinner. Victoria." I stated, and a hologram soon appeared in front of us.

On it, a figure with white skin and white hair appeared, she wore a white dress that reached her thighs.

Her eyes were a mix of grey and white, and she wore a plastic mask over her face. "Oh, so the misunderstood girl. Great."

Hearing Summer say that, Belle became worried. "What… does she mean by that?"

I only sighed and stared at the hologram with concern. "Victoria was born with a weak immune system, but her childhood… was nothing great."

"What… happened to her?" Belle asked tentatively.

"Her father kept her hidden away, not letting her interact with anyone from the outside, while at the same time, trying to find a cure for her." I explained, recalling the story she told me.

"She was forced to take medication, treatment, anything to cure her, but it soon came at a cost." Belle then looked at the picture of Victory with sadness, her hands clenching her skirt.

"Her idea of love was warped, thinking that receiving pain and giving pain was a form of love. The day she became a sinner, she became more certain that harming anyone was expressing her love." My voice was quiet, and I could still remember what she wanted me to do.

"How bad was it?" Belle's voice held a hint of fear.

"Bad, very, very bad." I can hear her voice in my mind, wanting me to bind her. Giving her the so-called love she wanted.

"Summer, can you-?" Multiple screens then appeared before us, showing us a video of Victoria following a familiar woman.

However, she soon turned to the camera and gave a wink, while also blowing a kiss at the camera.

"She reminds me of someone, but I can't put my finger on it." Summer hummed, but then shrugged.

"Do we know where they went?" I asked, and the screen then shifted and soon showed a large hollow.

"She's keeping Victoria really close, so you'll have to go in yourself to find her." I could only hum at Summer's suggestion.

"Fine, drive us back to HQ and get Nightingale on the phone." I then turned to Belle and gave an apologetic smile.

"We're going to cut our hangout session short, sorry." Belle shook her head and gave a smile in return.

"It's fine, you're the Chief of some big organization, it's understandable." But her smile didn't match her tone.

"If you want, I can make some time for both of us," I suggested. "You pick the place, I'll pay. Sound's good?"

Hearing that I'll be paying for our next hangout, I agreed to her request, and the two of us headed to her home.

[WOooooo, Victoria for the win! Anyways, the chief is now looking for the lovestruck woman, whose love is as twisted as her mind. Can the chief save anyone? Stay tuned to find out!
