Chapter 282 - Chapter 279: How to Choose Between the Three Medusas...Small, Medium, and Large?

"Have we met before?" Jiang You wondered aloud.

During the Fifth Holy Grail War Script, Medusa had summoned Gorgon once, presumably establishing a connection between their existences. However, Jiang You had only ever seen Gorgon through Hundred Faces' live streams. By all rights, she shouldn't recognize him.

"How could I ever forget your foul magical power? This is the price you'll pay for mocking me with your Noble Phantasm!"

Gorgon frantically whipped her massive tail, smashing it across Jiang You's body again. But it was still the Duel's window period, so no damage could be inflicted.

Realizing physical attacks were ineffective, Gorgon coiled her serpentine body around Jiang You, trapping him at its center. She leaned forward and unleashed another Mystic Eyes of Petrification attack, channeling an immense surge of magical power into a torrent of purple energy that completely engulfed Jiang You.

Just as Jiang You was about to step in personally to play a hand of cards against Gorgon, a fiery red meteor struck her cheek, sending her mountain-sized body hurtling dozens of meters. Gorgon crashed down with a thunderous roar, collapsing a section of Uruk's city wall.

Only then did Jiang You realize Gorgon hadn't charged in on her own; someone had thrown her.

"Quetzalcoatl!"

Jiang You didn't even need to turn around to know who could pull off such a feat. Only Quetzalcoatl, the muscle-brained feathered serpent goddess, could pull off such a feat.

"You can fling something this heavy around like a ragdoll?! ...And weren't you supposed to be destroying the Dark Temple to stop the Magical Beasts from spawning?! Why are you attacking me instead?!"

"Ah, my bad! My bad!"

Quetzalcoatl clasped her hands in apology, but there was no genuine remorse in her expression.

"The contract with the Three Goddesses has ended, and my hands are just itching for action. I've already sent the Jaguar Man to handle the Dark Temple. Don't let her looks fool you—she's incredibly strong, you know. Big Sister here has been cooped up for far too long! Just a little bit of fun, Jiang You—please be understanding!"

Jiang You was speechless. He had always considered Quetzalcoatl to be his most reliable servant, especially since she hadn't lost half her Divinity to Merlin's trickery this time, making her terrifyingly powerful. But considering the legend of how she had knocked Tezcatlipoca into the sea with her club out of sheer annoyance, Jiang You decided to let it go.

But who's going to compensate me for Gorgon's share of the rewards? And what about Ana's mission?

Jiang You resorted to his time-honored tactic: "Your Ladyship, you wouldn't want to miss your chance to compete in the Wrestling Tournament, would you?"

"Are you a demon?"

Quetzalcoatl instantly softened. What she craved was a clash of professional wrestling techniques, not a brawl using divine power against amateurish non-human opponents.

"But you promised I could participate in the tournament, right? Don't back out later, okay?"

Quetzalcoatl, at least, still adhered to some semblance of order, knowing she needed Jiang You to win. Without hesitation, Jiang You sacrificed the anonymous wrestlers. "No problem. Once I've dealt with Tiamat, I'll take you there."

"Deal with me?" Gorgon struggled to her feet. As long as the Dark Temple remained intact, she had an endless supply of magical power. Though Quetzalcoatl was strong, she still had her limits.

"Stop dreaming! Since Uruk has fallen, let's wage all-out war right here, Three Goddesses! Starting with you, Gorgon!"

So she still thinks we don't know she's actually Gorgon? Jiang You scratched his head. Although this child believed she was acting on her own vengeful desires against humanity, she had been a pawn for Tiamat's revival from the very beginning. This was why, in the original story, even though everyone knew the truth, they made Gudako seek the answer herself—because stating it outright would have made this sorrowful monster far too pitiable.

"How did you find out?!" Gorgon showed a shocked expression. She had truly merged with Tiamat's Spirit Origin—how could she have been discovered?

"Since you already know my Noble Phantasm, you must be aware of your own Card name, right?"

Actually, the Card name wasn't even necessary to understand. "Besides, don't you think your elements are a bit much? Serpent hair, Mystic Eyes of Petrification... Anyone who sees you instantly thinks Medusa. You really miss your sisters, don't you?"

"..."

Gorgon couldn't refute this. Although she possessed Tiamat's Authority to create Magical Beasts, the actual power gap remained vast. Only her own abilities felt truly comfortable to wield. Moreover, her appearance wasn't her choice. What she yearned for most was the irretrievable past, that petite body she shared with her sisters. But her sisters were gone, devoured by her. If not for those covetous humans, she and her sisters could have lived happily ever after.

Next, Ana was summoned back to his side.

The hood was pulled back, revealing Ana's face completely to Gorgon. "This face... you should be quite familiar with it, shouldn't you?"

"Impossible!"

Gorgon trembled as she gazed upon the pure, innocent version of herself standing before her. She understood: this servant had been summoned by the Counter Force specifically to counteract her. Their Mystic Eyes of Petrification could neutralize each other, and that scythe that prevented wounds from healing perfectly countered her Dark Temple's constant regeneration. Using me to defeat myself—how pathetic! I'm not even allowed my revenge! "Are you mocking me?! Mocking this monstrous end I've become?!"

Having reached this point, Gorgon abandoned all restraint and launched a full-force counterattack.

Ominous magical power began to coalesce—a dark, crimson energy. Gorgon prepared to unleash her ultimate Noble Phantasm: by sacrificing the last vestiges of her divine essence, she would briefly materialize her tragic final form, the Gorgon's Monster. Once activated, this Noble Phantasm would dissolve all life within a designated area. This could be considered the final, desperate act of Medusa, the girl who once bore that name, before she relinquished it entirely. Its name was—

Forcefully seal the Temple of All Demons.

"You were the one who said not to provoke her, and yet you're the one stirring up the most trouble."

Merlin reluctantly activated his Spell, targeting only himself. He was the only one present who couldn't withstand the Archon's attack. Hadn't Jiang You already positioned Fairy Tristan on standby at the rear?

"Exactly the effect I wanted."

Jiang You had already enveloped Ana and Gorgon within the range of his Noble Phantasm.

"Otherwise, how else would I let Gorgon witness my two trump cards? I can sense this battle will be child's play. Some Cards, even without resistance, are simply indestructible. And for Gorgon? They're completely immune."

"I thought you meant the two Medusas from your Card Summoning Class. So it's them you were referring to?"

Merlin finally understood what Jiang You was referring to. "You really are a malicious bastard, aren't you?"
