Miles sat on the edge of Rayne's bed, completely still, his eyes wide with disbelief. He wasn't blinking, barely even breathing, just staring into empty space like his mind had short-circuited.
Rayne stood a few feet away, both hands tucked into his pockets, his expression unreadable. He had said everything that needed to be said, and now, all that was left was the silence between them. It stretched on endlessly, almost painfully, before Miles finally blinked, his lips parting.
"Dragons?" He whispered, his voice barely audible.
Rayne gave a small, confirming nod.
Miles blinked again, trying to piece everything together. "So…dragons are not a myth? They're real? Not extinct, but alive. And two of them trained you? And now one of them has been kidnapped by the Five Shadows and their master?"
He said it all in one breath, like listing off the pieces of an impossible puzzle.
"Yes" Rayne replied calmly. "And I need your help to find him"
