The Hidden Hand
Gerard thought he was setting the traps—but now he knows he's been in one all along. The enemy knows his real name, meaning they've been watching longer than he suspected. As the interrogation continues, he must extract as much information as possible before the captive becomes useless. Meanwhile, Wei Meiying is no longer sitting on the sidelines—she's ready to confront Li Xian. And the unseen force that has been lurking in the shadows? They're preparing their next strike.

02:15 – The Warehouse – Breaking the Captive
The air inside the abandoned warehouse was thick with tension.
The captive operative sat slumped in the chair, blood dripping from his split lip, but his eyes were still filled with defiance.
Gerard studied him, silent.
The man knew his real name.
That meant he wasn't just a grunt.
He was valuable.
Jian exhaled, pacing behind Gerard. "So, how do we play this? Standard intimidation? Or do we start cutting off fingers?"
The assassin chuckled, leaning against the wall. "I vote for fingers. Always works."
Gerard ignored them, his cold gaze fixed on the prisoner. "You knew who I was before you came after me. That means whoever sent you has been tracking me for a long time."
The prisoner sneered. "You don't know how deep this goes, Walker. You're not playing in a street fight anymore."
Gerard smirked. "I never was."
He moved forward, gripping the man's hair and forcing him to meet his eyes. "Tell me. Who do you work for?"
The prisoner laughed, despite the pain. "You think you're the first ghost we've hunted? You're just another dead man walking."
Gerard's fist slammed into his ribs.
A sharp gasp.
The man coughed, blood splattering onto the floor.
Gerard's voice was calm, patient. "That was your only warning."
The prisoner exhaled shakily.
Then—his lips twisted into a smirk.
"We are the ones who clean up mistakes like you."
A cold feeling crept into Gerard's gut.
Before he could press further—
The man's body convulsed violently.
Jian's eyes widened. "Shit, he's seizing!"
The assassin cursed. "Poison capsule—he bit down on it!"
Gerard moved fast, prying the man's jaw open—
Too late.
Foam spilled from the captive's mouth. His body twitched violently—then went still.
A heavy silence.
Then—
Jian exhaled. "Well. That's annoying."
The assassin whistled low. "They'd rather kill their own men than risk you getting information. That tells me two things."
Gerard's jaw clenched. "They're professional."
The assassin nodded. "And they think you're dangerous enough to be worth that kind of secrecy."
A beat of silence.
Then Gerard turned to Jian. "Burn the body. No evidence left behind."
Jian sighed. "I hate corpse duty."
Gerard wasn't listening.
His mind was already racing.
If these people had been watching him since before he took over Li Xian's body…
Then who the hell were they really after?

08:30 – Wei Estate – The Confrontation Begins
The morning sun filtered through the large bay windows of the Wei estate.
Wei Meiying sat in the private family lounge, sipping tea.
Across from her sat Li Xian.
Or rather—the man who claimed to be her brother.
Her fingers tapped against the porcelain cup.
"You've changed, Xian."
Gerard's expression was calm. "Have I?"
Meiying smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "You don't even deny it."
Gerard leaned back slightly, tilting his head. "What is it you're really asking, Meiying?"
She set her cup down, fingers steepling under her chin.
"I want to know the truth."
Silence.
A moment passed.
Then another.
Finally, Gerard sighed, smiling slightly. "Truth is a matter of perspective."
Meiying's gaze hardened. "Then give me yours."
Gerard exhaled. "Alright. Let's say, hypothetically, that I did change. That I'm not the same person I was before. Would that change anything?"
Meiying didn't flinch. "It would change everything."
Gerard watched her carefully.
She was testing him, just like her mother.
But unlike Madam Wei, Meiying was looking for something different.
Not inconsistencies.
But a reason.
A reason to believe—or to turn against him.
Time to see which way she would go.

[Ding! Meiying's Suspicion Has Peaked]
- She no longer believes Li Xian is the same person.
- Next Move: Control the narrative before she reaches her own conclusions.

09:15 – The Hidden Hand Prepares to Strike
A darkened office. A city skyline stretching beyond the glass walls.
The man from the private airstrip sat at his desk, reviewing new reports.
A woman stood nearby, arms crossed.
"He survived the ambush," she noted.
The man smirked. "Of course he did."
She frowned. "And the asset?"
The man exhaled. "Lost. But expected."
He tapped a single key on his console.
A new directive appeared on the monitor.
[Deploy Phase Two – Direct Engagement Authorized.]
The woman's expression darkened. "You're escalating too fast."
The man chuckled. "I'm testing him. If he's truly the ghost they say he is, he'll survive."
He leaned back, fingers steepling.
"If not? Then we move on."
The game was changing.
Now, it was no longer about watching.
It was about eliminating.

10:00 – Safehouse – The Warning Comes Late
Gerard was reviewing the last of the decrypted data when his system flashed red.
[Ding! System Alert – Incoming Hostile Action Detected]
Jian looked up from across the room. "What's wrong?"
Gerard's eyes narrowed. "We need to move."
The assassin smirked. "That bad?"
Gerard stood, grabbing his weapons. "That bad."
Jian cursed. "Where are they hitting us?"
Gerard exhaled sharply.
"Everywhere."
A second later—
Gunfire erupted outside the safehouse.
