Chapter 67 - Chapter 60: Guest of the Flames

Timeskip: Two Days later...

Hosu City burned beneath the afternoon sun.

From above, it looked alive in the way only a city perpetually on the brink could traffic flowing like veins, pedestrians weaving through streets lined with concrete and glass, heat shimmering faintly above rooftops. Somewhere far below, sirens wailed and faded, swallowed by the noise of the city itself.

A full black SUV, tinted windows and the emblem of the Hero Commission across its sides drove through the city. Gojo sat within the back seats, fully dressed in his hero costume, the same one he wore during the first exercise with All Might.

A loose, white outer haori that hung open, giving him a relaxed, almost ceremonial look. Underneath is a fitted black high collar shirt, tight around the neck and torso, creating a sharp contrast against the white layers.

Around his waist, he had that wide, flowing white hakama style pants, secured with a black sash tied at the front and on his feet are simple black slip on shoes, minimal and yet practical.

His hair in its usual perfect messy style and he wore his pair of dark round sunglasses. Fully decked out in his hero outfit. Perfect for looking flawless and public yet effective and practical on battle.

'To think All Might suggested a cape.' He smiled to himself. He wrote in a small notebook with a pencil down details he decided to keep close eyes on.

On the paper was the first question, being what is the connection between All Might and Midoriya. Ever since he realised it at the Sports Festival, hes been thinking about that flow of quirk energy in All Might but also in Midoriya.

'It wasn't just similar... it was an exact copy. Identical. Related? Perhaps father and son? But that doesn't explain why its a direct and perfect copy... ' his mind raced with different solutions to why but it couldn't figure it out.

To have the same exact quirk as someone else is rare. At most you'll have similar with various uses. Not every fire quirk works the same. The problem was that the quirk of the two parents would evolve into one quirk to be different for the child.

Even as he looked at families outside the window, even with just those quick glances, he could see they could have a similar flow but there's subtle differences. 'To think I can see these differences... No quirk is the exact same... Unless... he somehow gave his quirk to Midoriya...'

He shook the thought, "Impossible. How would that even work, to take your quirk and pass it to another. Not a stupid idea but logically from what I've read about quirks, doesnt seem likely." He mumbled to himself.

The driver in the front kept is eyes on the road, not even wanting to interupt the mumbling boy behind him, purely out of worry considering talking to his employers golden ticket was above his pay grade.

After the three hour drive, the car stopped outside of Endeavor's Agency. A massive building, the third tallest, beaten by All Mights and the Hero Commission in the fat distance. It looked, for a lack of words, menacing.

The entire reason for Gojo being here was to simply complete his internships. With one week remaining, Kamizono called him the previous day to inform him that his request to finish his internship under Endeavor had been authorised.

Gojo stepped out of the car too busy in his own thoughts as he put his pencil and note away, people seeing him getting out and almost instantly recognising him by his snow white hair and glasses.

"Hey, it's that winner from the sports festival! Satoru Gojo!" A girl called out, alot more people now paying attention as he looked up and waved at them. People now came closer as he stood outside the agency, some giving praises and congratulations to his victory and good luck for his hero career.

"The one and only, Satoru Gojo! Thank you all for your praises, I'll be sure to return the favour by making sure you all sleep soundly at night." He said with a toothy grin as he walked to the entrance of building.

People took pictures and videos, some exclaiming shock that hes interning under Endeavor. Others hearing what he said and felt at ease with it. The winner of the sports festival, someone who dared to declare himself an Honoured One is interning at Endeavor? Who wouldnt feel safe?

People already speaking how he was with Hawks and now hes at Endeavor? Some already began theories as to why while watching him open the door and enter.

Gojo now stood inside of Endeavor's Agency, hands tucked casually into his pockets, posture loose to the point of arrogance as he looked relaxed. From the outside people couldn't even see him as the windows were mirrors to them, but from within Gojo could see every single one of them.

Inside, the agency was sleek, efficient, and intimidating by design. Clean lines, reinforced walls, and the constant low hum of activity. He looksed around and noticed quite a few heroes and sidekicks moving about with purpose, their conversations clipped, professional.

"Satoru Gojo." A voice called out his name with a flat tone that he recognised. Gojo looked around, walking past the assistants and walking towards the source of the voice.

"Hey! Todoroki, long time no see buddy!" Gojo said as he finally saw him. Todoroki standing in his hero costume, a dark blue suit with a white harness crossing his chest, with neatly fixed grenades at his waist and a pair of white boots.

His expression was calm and flat as Gojo walked up to him, "Hey there buddy, guess youre taking me to see your dad." Gojo said casually as he pat his back, Todoroki only giving a sigh as his body stiffened.

Todoroki then turned around and simply gestured toward the elevators as he started walking to them. "My father is nearly done with a minor meeting. We can wait before we sort you out."

'I guess hes still spooked. I felt him tense up a but when I touched him. Oh well.' Gojo thought as he followed Todoroki. "Alright then, always wanted to see what the 'world record holder for the most incidents solved' office looked like."

The elevator doors slid shut behind the two teens with a quiet hiss, sealing them into a narrow, mirrored space. The hum of machinery filled the silence as the elevator began its ascent.

Neither spoke.

Gojo leaned back against the wall, hands tucked into his pockets as he hummed a song. Todoroki stared straight ahead, jaw tightening as he forced himself to speak to his classmates.

"…Why are you even here?" Todoroki asked with an almost strained voice. Gojo tilted his head. "Hmm oh Im just here to finish my internship. Something happened with me and Hawks so I was sent here, no big deal." He shrugged at the end.

Todoroki nodded as silence came over to two again. After a minute, the elevator chimed as the doors opened onto Endeavor's office floor.

As the two stepped out Gojo and Todoroki walked down a corridor before coming to a wide closed door.

Heat lingered in the air around the door, not literal flames, but the oppressive presence of the man himself. The hallway was rather wide, widden enough there were chairs outside his office meant for those waiting on him.

Todoroki and Gojo sat down, hearing the muffled words of Endeavor's giving out orders another. His tone was strict and final, a no nonsense attitude in them.

Endeavor's office doors suddenly swung open, revealing the towering figure of the Number Two Hero finishing the conversation with one of his sidekicks. "Now bring me Burnin." He gave the man a final nod as the side kick went down the hallway.

Endeavor turned to see his son and Gojo sitting on the waiting chairs. He then motioned for then to come inside the office. His eyes lingered on Gojo for a moment as the two teens walked past him.

He closed the door behind himself and walked over to his desk. 'Wow... Is there some corelation about powerful people and having floor to ceiling windows in their office?' Gojo asked himself as he gave a low whistle looking around.

A large spacious room decked with beautiful furniture, a floor resembling burnt wood and clean walls with medals, trophies and awards hung on it. Endeavours desk had a stack of papers, a beautiful long wooden desk with 3 fire extinguishers to the side of it.

Gojo noticed to the left was a glass case, displaying most likely a second back up hero suit for him, and next to it a full sized fridge with two more fire extinguishers next to it.

"Damn, this actually might be the best looking office, all you need might be a balcony and youre set." Gojo commented as he went to one of the couches and sat down in it and visibly relaxing from its comfort.

Meanwhile Endeavors eyes landed on Gojo as they narrowed. Seeing him waltz in here and already making himself comfortable. "…You," Endeavor said flatly.

"Wow," Gojo replied, placing a hand over his chest. "No 'welcome,' no 'good to see you,' no warmth, pun intended, whatsoever. Shocking."

Endeavor exhaled sharply through his nose as he turned to his son. "Todoroki," he called, Todoroki turning to his father as if he were a soldier. "Wait outside. I need to discuss something with Satoru."

Todoroki hesitated for half a second, eyes flicking between the two men. Then he turned and left without a word, not questioning what for and shut the door on his way out

Now it was only Endeavor, in his hero suit, his large muscular build, flames forming his mask and moustache, his blue with white hero suit, sitting behind his desk.

And opposite him was the one and only Satoru Gojo, anything but a normal student that attends the same school as his son.

"I didn't want you here," he said bluntly ending the silence that hung in the air. "It filled me with disgust when Kamizono called... Ordered me yesterday to have you here for internship for the remaining week."

Gojo replied casually, not looking at Endeavor, "Aw, but what did little me do to deserve such hate from the number two hero?" He spoke in a sarcastic voice.

Endeavor's jaw clenched, the silence stretched before he answered. "He wakes up at night you know." Endeavor continued, voice low. "Sweating. Shaking. Like a veteran dragged back from a battlefield. Ever since the sports festival."

Gojo tilted his head, considering. Now finally looking at the pro hero. "…Well, I did not expect to give him PTSD," he admitted. "I probably... might have possibly... could have went a little overboard then."

Endeavor's eyes flared as he stood up abruptly. "You think this is some kind of joke, boy?" He asked in a low voice.

Gojo continued casually, as if not threatened about angering one of, if not the best fire quirk user in the world. "I did warn him. I told him I wasn't going to hold back... Maybe I did but thats besides the point, I needed to make my position clear."

Gojo stood up and out his hands in his pockets as he spoke. "Todoroki definitely did a number on me. I barely got use to my healing factor and he forced me to regenerate the skin and some flesh of my chest and arms.

I respect him for that. He pushed me, figuring out how to counter Infinity in a smart way, doing such a number on me, I didn't expect to be forced to learn how to manually activate a healing factor and heal all that damage. Truly he was strong... but he wasn't strong enough." he continued on to Endeavor who raised an eyebrow.

'Healing factor? I thought his quirk was manipulation of space. Where does a healing factor fit into this?' He thought to himself. Although he couldn't deny while he was confused he felt a small feeling of pride in his son for pushing Gojo that far.

Endeavor's gaze sharpened. "Such pride could get you killed... Onto more important things," he said. "Why did Kamizono herself call me? On my private number. Why did Hawks suddenly step aside? What exactly happened?"

Gojo removed his sunglasses. For the first time in coming into this room, his expression was serious. "Endeavor," he said quietly, holding the sunglasses in his hand as if inspecting them before his eyes, "You don't need to worry about that."

Endeavor bristled, almost scoffed and laughed out loud. "And who are you to tell me—" Gojo interrupted, smiling but a tone of no rebuttals. "I'm asking you nicely. Stuff happened between me and Kamizono. That's all you need to know.

Flames flared on Endeavor's face."You think I'm afraid of you?" Endeavor growled. Gojo's smile returned, bright and dangerous. His eyes full of challenge as he walked close to the table Endeavor stood.

"Your flames are hotter than Todoroki's, for now hopefully," he said calmly. "You have more experience. More battles." He leaned closer. "But go on," he whispered. "Try to touch me. It might be fun. I want something to use as a target for some new moves ive been working on the past two days." he said with a smirk.

The tension in the room weighted on them. The two held their stare for several long seconds. Then only sounds being the faint buzz of the refrigerator and the flames on Endeavor's face.

"... Challenging a pro hero and youre only in your first year at U.A. Satoru Gojo. I must say, impressive. Fine, ill respect your wish." Endeavor said as he folds his arms as he thought to himself. 'Kamizono... I hope you didnt try another scheme of yours.'

"Really? Thanks pal, I'll make it up to you dont worry." Gojo gave a grin as he put his glasses on. "So, Me, you and Todoroki going to patrol or what?"

The door suddenly opened again moments later. Todoroki had returned with a woman, who immediately wandered onto the couch as she spoke to endeavor. "Yes sir, you called and Burnin came knocking." She gave a smirk before her eyes settles on Gojo.

Gojo tilted his sunglassed as he looked her up and down. She was a curvaceous young woman with big red orange eyes. Her most distinguishable feature is her long, flaming yellowish-green hair, with two bangs on each side, and a wider bang going from the center of her forehead to the right.

Her costume consists of a light gray mini dress with orange and black lining and slits on both sides of the skirt. Her collar, belt, and wrist guards were black with a smaller orange line, and the silver buttons resemble flat headed screws.

She also wears a belt with a temperature gauge on the front and a fire extinguisher on the back black knee-high socks, and short black boots. Her mask is black and connected to a red headband.

'Her mask reminds me of Bakugo's black mask, and shes not too bad looking I say...' Gojo thoughts to himself and Endeavor cleared his throat.

"Burnin. Thank you for coming. Satoru Gojo was requested be an intern here and I'd like to have you essentially yo keep a eye on him, take him on patrol and see how works done." He said with a tone that provided no refusals.

She stood up from the couch and walked over to Gojo as he looked confused. "Wait I thought I'd coming with you?" Gojo asked as Endeavor and Todoroki headed out of the room.

"Im busy training Todoroki. Burnin will be with you... Dont worry about it." He said in a flat tone with Gojo looking surprised, "... Hey! You cant use my own words against me!"

"No way," Burnin said, grinning as she looked at Gojo. "I get my own side kick and it's the one and only Satoru Gojo? Makes sense he doesnt want to be with you, you did piss the boss of that day." She says laughing as she offers a handshake.

Gojo gave a strained laugh as he corrected her, "Temporary guest, not side kick. I just need adults to keep me supervised... So im told." he shook her hand.

Burnin snorted. "Im liking that atitude already." she then walked out the door, rubbing her hands together. "Come on kid, lets see what you got, who knows, maybe you dont need my supervision."

While the two chuckled and also began leaving the room, Endeavor and Todoroki were already turning around a corner to an elevator. Endeavor clears his throat as he spoke.

"... Shoto... I must ask. What about Gojo's quirk do you know of." He spoke in a low tone. Todoroki didnt answer for a minute before he gave a dry reply.

"Enough that Im willing tolerating you to be strong enough to surpass him, or at least rival him." Even if his tone was dry, Endeavor could feel the determination within it.

But he also couldn't help but feel that history was repeating itself... Perhaps his obsession with All Might might habe turned into became his sons obsession with Satoru.

He recalled the last week, incidents and training, 16 hours every day, Todoroki putting aside what horrible acts he did, even promising to consider forgiving him in exchange to teach him everything.

"Son... I–" He was interrupted by Todorokis cold voice as he stopped before the elevator. "Do not. Call me. That." He said in a cold tone.

It hurt Endeavor. Seeing his broken and bloody body had been haunting his sleep. He thought back to how Gojo smiled as he fired that attack.

'What the Hell is his quirk. Space manipulation, healing factor?... I need tk contact Nezu.' He declared in his head as he apologised to Todoroki.

He wouldnt let his son go down his dark path. He'll prevent history from repeating. He knew what man he had become, his guilt and pain he felt.

He wouldn't allow Todoroki to turn into a hero he became. He almost smiled to himself as the two got into the elevator. 'How ironic.' He thought to himself.
