Chapter 196: So This Is the Truth
Everything that needed to be said had already been said.
Uchiha Dali had run out of patience. Seeing that Uchiha Obito still showed no signs of remorse, he slowly raised his hand and pointed it at him.
"From here on out, regardless of your intentions, your dream ends today."
"I will create a truly peaceful shinobi world and crush the Akatsuki's ambitions."
With that, he directly activated the Law of Gravity against Uchiha Obito.
This was a power far greater than the Universal Pull of the Rinnegan used by Pain's Six Paths. The gravitational force it generated wasn't something mere humans could resist—even the Ten Tails wouldn't be able to break free.
Sure enough, the moment Uchiha Dali unleashed this move, Obito's attempt to activate Kamui was instantly disrupted.
His Kamui failed, and his body was involuntarily dragged toward Uchiha Dali.
But Obito wasn't going to go down without a fight. Even though he'd lost control of his body, he decisively activated Wood Release.
A sharp wooden staff formed in his hand, and he prepared to land a deadly strike once he got close to Uchiha Dali.
It was a naïve idea, but he would rather try and fail than give up without resistance.
"This is your last chance, Obito."
"If you're willing to abandon your evil ways and return to Konoha, I'll tell you the entire truth. Otherwise, I'll end you here."
Uchiha Dali stared coldly at Obito, who was still trying to resist.
Obito snorted at his words. "I have no interest in your pack of lies."
"Fool."
"Take a good look at this."
As he spoke, Uchiha Dali directly cast a genjutsu on him.
In an instant, Obito's consciousness was pulled into an independent space, where he saw what was about to unfold in the near future.
The earth was in ruins, devastation stretching as far as the eye could see.
Shinobi from the Land of Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning, and Water, along with ninjas from various smaller nations, had joined forces to form an Allied Shinobi Army. They were battling unfamiliar enemies.
These enemies looked eerily familiar—they were all white humanoid figures. At a glance, it was clear they were White Zetsu.
"White Zetsu?"
Obito's pupils contracted slightly.
He immediately realized that this scene must depict the imminent Fourth Great Ninja War.
Back when he declared war on Uchiha Dali, his plan had been to use the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and the Wood Release cells left behind by Uchiha Madara to mass-produce White Zetsu, each with at least jonin-level strength, to serve as his main assault force against the Allied Shinobi Army.
"So this guy is showing me the outcome of that war?"
With this question in mind, Obito kept watching.
He soon saw a grotesquely large and mountainous creature appear in the scene.
The earth shook as it moved. It had ten tails, resembling the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path in some ways—but not entirely.
A single strike from it could wipe out countless shinobi.
One Tailed Beast Bomb could obliterate an entire country.
Clearly, the widespread devastation in the area was closely tied to this monstrous being.
"Is that... the Ten Tails?"
Obito's gaze grew intense as he continued watching.
Then, he saw a figure all too familiar to him.
"That's me? Why am I—?"
In the vision, Obito saw himself seizing Nagato's Rinnegan, and then absorbing the chakra of the nine Tailed Beasts to revive the Ten Tails, becoming its jinchūriki.
From there, he gained unprecedented power, transforming into a being akin to the Sage of Six Paths.
Having reached this level, Obito continued battling the Allied Shinobi Forces—but was ultimately defeated by Uchiha Dali.
Obito watched this entire sequence unfold with absolute clarity.
And as a detached observer, he couldn't spot a single flaw in Uchiha Dali's performance.
In other words, even now—watching their future battle objectively and in full detail—he still couldn't see a way to defeat Uchiha Dali.
But that wasn't what truly made Obito's expression change.
What truly shook him was what happened next.
After losing the Ten Tails' power, the Obito in the vision was ambushed by Black Zetsu, who hijacked his body. Using it as a medium, Black Zetsu activated the Rinnegan technique: Outer Path — Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, sacrificing Obito's life to do so.
With that, Black Zetsu revived Uchiha Madara.
And the first thing Madara did upon resurrection was to reclaim his Rinnegan.
The vision continued.
The resurrected Madara unleashed overwhelming power, forcing the Allied Shinobi Forces into a crushing retreat. Only Uchiha Dali could stand against him.
While the two clashed, the Divine Tree bloomed.
Using the Divine Tree, Madara successfully cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
But right after the genjutsu was released, Madara was betrayed by his own "will"—Black Zetsu.
Black Zetsu killed him on the spot, then used his power to summon an even more terrifying being.
It was a beautiful woman dressed in flowing white robes.
In the vision, Black Zetsu grovelled before her and called her "Mother." He then revealed the truth: he was never the embodiment of Madara's will. In reality, he was the third son of a woman named Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
As Obito kept watching, he finally learned the secrets he had never known before.
This Ōtsutsuki Kaguya was none other than the legendary progenitor of shinobi—the mother of Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo, known to the world as the Sage of Six Paths.
Long ago, due to her tyrannical rule, Kaguya had sought to use all of humanity as nourishment for the Divine Tree, leading to a conflict with her sons—Hagoromo and Hamura.
Unable to defeat the two of them combined, Kaguya was eventually sealed away.
But before her end, she left behind a third son—Black Zetsu—tasking him with finding a way to resurrect her.
And thus, everything that followed was set in motion. Black Zetsu altered the stone tablet hidden in the Uchiha clan's Naka Shrine, deceiving Uchiha Madara and guiding him toward awakening the Rinnegan.
Madara was led to believe that Black Zetsu was his will incarnate.
In truth, Black Zetsu was manipulating him step by step into casting the Infinite Tsukuyomi and plunging the world into an illusion—all part of a ruse.
The real goal was to revive the Divine Tree and bring back the sealed Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
"All of this… is real?"
Having seen the vision displayed by Uchiha Dali's Mangekyō Sharingan, Obito was utterly stunned.
