Chapter 94 - Hunted

Succubi Chapter 94. Hunted

Dinner wrapped up with the usual chaos, awkward tension, and the lingering sense that I was walking around with a target on my soul and a clingy tentacle girl wrapped around my dignity.

Still, tradition was tradition.

And after all that, I found myself, like always, standing in front of the sink, drying dishes as she washed. Demon dorm life, right? Survive death, get fed, wash dishes. Circle of life.

Lilith, of course, did it with the grace of a queen preparing ritual sacrifices. "Thank you, sweetheart," she said with a wink, handing me a dripping ladle.

I wiped it off, trying not to think too hard about how her eyes still glinted like she knew everything about my earlier situation. She probably did. She was Lust, after all. Probably got a notification every time someone orgasmed in her vicinity.

Once the dishes were done, I nodded to her and went back upstairs to grab my bath stuff. A towel. My favorite shampoo. That mint body wash that tingled in just the right way. Yeah, I liked feeling minty. Sue me.

I headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. Quick, because… well.

I didn't trust this house. Or maybe because I remembered Sera's promise after the dinner.

Or maybe it was because of…

After what happened yesterday with Val showing up mid-rinse while my d*ck was out and wet and very visible? Yeah, I had trust issues.

But weirdly… tonight? No one came.

Not Val. Not Gladia. Not even Sera, who had every excuse to tentacle-sneak in for "round two."

No shadowy footsteps. No "oops I thought this was the laundry room." No Lilith lurking behind the curtain with a goblet and suggestive eyebrows.

Just me.

Soap.

Steam.

Silence.

And maybe a small part of me was… disappointed?

I mean, sure, my brain was relieved. I needed a break. I needed peace. I needed ten hours of uninterrupted coma sleep.

But my hormonal, recently-blown teenage body?

Oh, that part was screaming.

'Bro,' it said. 'You just got the starter achievement. Don't stop now. Go for the boss fight.'

I shut that part up with cold water. Briefly. Kinda.

Still. When I got out of the bathroom, towel around my neck, the hall was… quiet. Dim. Peaceful.

Good, right?

That's what I told myself.

Until I heard it.

Hush hush!

A whisper. Too low to be wind. Too intentional to be creaking pipes.

Voices.

My head tilted. My hearing sharpened, instincts flaring.

That wasn't just whispering.

That was a conversation.

And not the usual "pass the chips" kind.

Serious. Sharp.

Low tones. Controlled volume.

Hushed.

Which meant… important.

I dried my hair with the towel once. Then padded barefoot toward the source.

Living room.

The light was dimmed, only one of the crystal sconces flickering softly against the velvet wallpaper. Shadows moved in the corner. Familiar shapes. Familiar voices.

I stopped just before the archway and peeked.

There they were.

All six.

Sitting on the couches in a half-circle. Not lounging like usual. Not bickering. Not teasing.

Serious.

I blinked.

Sera's tentacles were out. Not like her chaotic cuddle-mode. No. This was her controlled, glowing version, extending toward the others, brushing against skin, releasing a soft shimmer of healing energy.

Rivy sat stiffly, her posture guarded, a dark bruise blooming along her hip.

Val's expression was unreadable, but her right arm was held a little too carefully, subtle swelling visible near the bicep, just beneath the skin.

And Lilith… Lilith looked calm as ever, but a faint smudge of blood stained the side of her waist, just above her hip, like she'd taken a blow near the stomach that didn't quite break skin, but hit hard enough to matter. Their clothes were intact.

I tensed.

They were hurt.

They were actually hurt.

I stepped back instinctively, pressing to the wall, heart thudding in my chest. I should go in. Ask. Help. Something.

But my feet stayed rooted.

Because I heard them speak.

Rivy's voice was low and sharp. "—happened right outside the south gate. I thought the bastard was just a pickpocket."

Val exhaled, rubbing her wrist. "Mine wasn't even subtle. Bounty hunter. Had my face on a mana-sealed card and everything. Said I was 'worth triple if delivered breathing.'"

"Bounty?" Sera asked quietly, her voice unusually serious.

Val nodded once. "Lower-circle guild. Professional. Demon for hire."

"And you?" Rivy looked at Lilith.

Lilith's smile didn't reach her eyes. "Royal soldier."

My heart dropped.

Rivy sat up straighter. "You're kidding."

Lilith shook her head slowly. "Saw the seal. King's crest. No mistaking it. Said he was on 'containment' orders."

"Containment my ass," Val muttered. "They're trying to make us disappear."

Sera's voice wavered, but her healing tentacles didn't. "It's coordinated then."

Lilith nodded. "Different times. Different enemies. Same day."

"You killed them?" Sera asked, her voice tight.

Val scoffed. "I vaporized mine."

Rivy cracked her knuckles. "Mine got lucky I didn't blow his lungs out."

Lilith tilted her head with that familiar, unsettling calm. "Mine is 'sleeping' in an alley. Won't be waking up forever."

They went quiet for a second.

A breathless, simmering quiet.

I realized I was gripping the towel around my neck so tight my knuckles were white.

This was war.

Sera finally broke the silence.

"It's escalating," she said softly. "And we're still missing pieces."

"They're trying to kill us," Val muttered. "Starting with you, Lilith. You're the anchor. They know if they take you out, the rest of us scatter."

"They won't take me," Lilith said simply. "But yes. They're pushing."

Rivy looked down at her bruised knuckles. "We can't keep doing this separately."

Sera's tentacles pulled back slowly. "Then maybe we don't."

Val leaned back, one leg crossing over the other. "You suggesting… what, alliance?"

"I'm serious," Sera said. "We all know something's coming. And Evan—" her voice caught for a second, "he's right. We need to get stronger. Smarter."

Lilith turned her head slightly. "You think he'll agree?"

Sera's smile was soft. "He already is."

I blinked, heart jolting.

Lilith nodded thoughtfully. "He is changing. Not just stronger. Sharper. Steadier."

Val chuckled. "Still cute sometimes."

"But brave," Sera said. "Kind."

Rivy crossed her arms. "Loyal."

Lilith smiled now. "Dangerous."

They all nodded.

And my brain just about short-circuited.

Were they… planning something?

With me?

For me?

F*cking Powerpuff Succubi?!

I leaned back against the wall again and exhaled slowly.

Okay.

So things weren't slowing down.

The King was sending soldiers. Bounty hunters were in play. Demons were turning on demons. And somehow… somehow, I was becoming part of the glue holding this disaster harem together.
