"What are you trying to do?!
"Elias is mine! If you want a ghost form, go catch one yourself somewhere else."
"I think a Dusknoir would suit you perfectly."
Before Elias could answer, Diancie burst out, furious at Diantha's words.
Poaching Elias right in front of her—how could she keep quiet?
Diantha met Diancie's glare and pressed her lips together.
It was the first time she'd ever found a Pokémon this irritating.
She just wanted a ghostly helper exactly like Elias. It wasn't like she'd do anything strange.
Besides—
"Elias isn't a Rock-type Pokémon. Wouldn't he be uncomfortable living underground with you?"
"It'd be completely different at my place. Among humans, my house is quite spacious, you know."
Thinking of her advantage, Diantha squared her shoulders.
As a Kalos noble, she held vast land and wealth—greater, in fact, than many famous companies in other regions.
She was usually low-key, but now seemed a fine time to show off.
It wasn't a contest a Pokémon like Diancie could win.
Unfortunately…
Her calculation fell flat.
Diancie's expression didn't budge—if anything, it gained a faint edge of disdain.
On most things, she might be out of her depth.
Just not on this.
"Elias."
She tugged lightly at his sleeve. He looked down, curious.
"This is for you."
Rubbing her tiny hands together, Diancie conjured a pink diamond the size of her palm.
Even in the dim cave, it gleamed hard and bright.
Elias immediately understood. He sighed, fond, and patted her head before accepting it.
He had no intention of selling it, but a gift from Diancie was worth keeping.
Seeing him take it, Diancie's eyes curved in delight. She sent a smug look Diantha's way.
As a Jewel Pokémon, gems were the last thing she lacked.
Useless to her—priceless to humans.
"Ralu-ralu~"
Ralts patted her trainer's pale leg, trying to console her.
Diantha, though, looked glum.
Competing in wealth with a Pokémon literally covered in diamonds… what had she been thinking?
"As for the job, maybe we can talk about it another time."
"Diancie's health isn't great, and I have to take care of her every day, so I can't go far," Elias said with a mild smile, politely declining.
Until Diancie fully recovered, he really didn't have the bandwidth for anything else.
Diantha's face fell with regret, but since Elias had said so himself, she couldn't press.
"This is my address. Come visit when you have time."
She handed him a small, card-like note with care.
If she couldn't recruit him outright, she could at least hope he'd seek her out someday.
As if remembering something, she hesitated, then quickly added, "Of course… she can come too, if she wants."
She tipped her chin toward Diancie.
Elias tucked the card away carefully.
Beyond his good impression of Diantha, the lure of her vast library tugged at him.
It had to be better than the fluff he'd found in public stacks.

[After confirming it was safe, you, Diancie, and Diantha finally emerged from the underground passage.]
[Yveltal likely returned to its slumber, yet the forest was still steeped in a lingering aura of death.]
[With countless trees shattered and petrified, life wouldn't return here anytime soon.]
[After taking down your address, Diantha reluctantly suggested parting ways.]
---
"Ralu~"
Knowing she had to part from the ghostly figure before her, Ralts lowered her head, dejected.
She was drawn to Elias's Aura and the Power of Viridian—and he'd saved her life.
If not for Diantha raising her since childhood, she might have chosen to follow him.
"See you next time, Ralts."
Elias gave her cheek a gentle squeeze, warm and reassuring.
Unlike Diancie's slight resilience, Ralts's skin felt even softer—almost liquid.
Ralts brightened a little.
"Ralu!"
She met his eyes and gave a firm, tiny nod.
"Alright, Ralts, time to go," Diantha said softly, stepping in.
She drew the Poké Ball from her waist; if she wasn't careful, Ralts might try to sneak after Elias again.
She did consider tagging along herself, on some pretext—but he'd pushed himself enough today.
There would be a next time.
"Ralu…"
Ralts answered softly and turned to leave—only for Elias to press a small cluster of psychic energy into her hand.
Pure psychic power, tinged with Viridian, made her freeze in shock.
"This is thanks for your help earlier," Elias said, straightening.
He'd noticed Ralts eyeing his psychic energy, too shy to ask.
Sure enough, once the surprise faded, her little face flushed scarlet with excitement.
"Ralu!"
She thanked him earnestly.

[Late that night, beneath the stars, you and Diancie finally returned to Cogita's cottage.]
[Inside, it was pitch black—Cogita seemed to have gone to bed.]
[You and Diancie tiptoed in, careful not to wake her.]
---
"Cogita's asleep already?"
Elias glanced toward her room, puzzled.
Cogita usually kept awful hours and stayed up late.
They'd returned relatively early; by rights, she should still be awake.
---
Diancie: I could literally build you a house made entirely of diamonds!
