She stay motionless on my knee, only her tears streaming down.
Maybe I can use this opportunity for something.
But what can I actually use her for?
My eyes that was fix on the lady, darted to the gleaming basket beside us.
'Well... I do have something I want to obtain but it is quite literally impossible to get on my current state. She wouldn't be any better.'
Will it be too crazy to bet on such small possibility?
As I was lost in my own thought, I feels the pulls on my trouser, as she slowly nodded answering to my last words.
For now, lets just put that thought a side and focus on dealing with what in hands.
Gathering my courage I open my mouth with firm look.
Kneeling infront of the crying lady as I place my hand on her shoulder, helping her to sit.
"Don't worry dear. I am indeed a doctor. To be more specific a private doctor to the noble folk here. Under the right circumstances, I may able to help your daughter. But first I need to examine her current situation first"
Her crying stop, as she begin repeating her thankfulness toward me.
Her gratefulness seems so sincere, it not something I use to experince much with.
Before long, we on the journey to her place. Entering the poor resident, a lot of eyes had start gathering on me.
Even in the death of night the folk here is still well awake. Probably more worry of the darkness, compare to the rich who had the safety of their cozy estate.
Beside, I couldn't change my attire in order to potray this fake doctor I got going for.
'I really hope this payoff'
The state of the child sickness also play a key role here since medical field isn't my strongest suit.
shortly, we arrive at her supposely home.
The state, is not the worse. Pretty livable I would say.
'I've been to worse'
But all that really matter is the child sickness.
Because it will determine the outcome.

"Let me be real for a second. I have no reason to even put myself is such situation yet I found myself in that exact position of either I walk away or help. That doesn't sound like me. Maybe the boredom really take it toll to my mental"
"Maybe a therapist is require, sir"
My eyes turn sideway at the sudden reply.
Standing there the maid give me a soft smile. Too soft infact it kind of make me creep out a bit.
'Oh great, the impractical over price maid has escape her daydreaming.'
As if she had just catch me cursing her in my head. She begin to walk toward the table and quickly refill my cup of tea.
"Anything else I can help you with, sir?"
My sight pull away from her. Putting the book down on my lap, I view the city scenary.
The view is nice from here. Maybe not all part of the money I spend go to waste.
"May I ask something"
The maid reluctantly nod.
It take me a bit of time to put my thought into word. Suprisingly the topic is much harder to be brought for some reason today.
"How do you know if the way you act is your true self?"
The maid tilted her head to the side. As if she is examining my question before answering.
"That's an oddly personal. I am no therapist, but if you ask me, the way I act is simply reflects who I am. If what I do doesn't match how I usually is. Then that would mean I have change or I don't understand myself fully yet"
I think in that moment, it was the very first time I actually really see the maid.
'Maybe we are not so different from each other'
"Thanks, I didn't know I need that."
The maid seems somewhat suprise yet doesn't bother too look further into it.
"If that really the answer you looking for.. then, you welcome".
Picking up the cup of tea, I sip it slowly.
'Perhaps the money I spend really worth it'
Putting the cup down, I pick up the book once again.
"By the way, can I ask for your name?"
The maid had her usual look and tone as she answer.
"People go by me as, Liss but you can call me anything you want sir"
Huh? Maybe we really are not so different after all.
