Markus grinned, looking under a molecular microscope as he chattered the genome progression of Werewolf and Vampire DNA slowly fusing together.
Besides him was another clone, unlike most of the time where he let his clones do their own thing, this was was more of a second hand, two minds connected and truly one.
The clone was documenting and filing the data in, closely cataloguing the molecular atoms granting the two DNA strands this change.
But finally after an hour of the fusion of the DNA strands, they finally seemed to hit a bottleneck of sorts before slowly both the chimera DNA slowly started spiralling and breaking down.
Seeing this, Markus sighed, finishing his experiments and filing the Bio-Data in their hub supercomputer.
And as he was about to walk back to continue, he saw his recon clone again standing between his bustling clones working in tandem as one.
" The deadline is approaching." Was what the clone started their 'conversation'.
" Already?" Markus sputtered, a frown on his face.
" By my estimates, if our theory of 'plot structure maintenance' is correct, then we are about to reach the end of season one." The clone muttered, their voice monotone as ever.
" Fuck." Markus grunted out.
" How much time do you estimate we have?" Markus asked, having gotten used to actually conversating with his clones than drilling himself in their heads to obtain the information more efficiently.
" A week, a month has already passed since your 'tactful retreat'" The clone muttered with a shrugg.
" A week? That's good, that's enough time." Markus told him, a grin on his face." With the data we've collected, I think we've finally obtained enough evidence and data of the supernatural gene at its base form, with it we will be able to create Chimeras at a dozen."
" That's good, because if we don't meet the deadline then we'll have to reconstruct our plans a bit." The recon clone said.
" It won't come to that." Markus told them, looking at the lab with a grin.
" What of the assets we need for our plan to be ironclad?" Markus asked.
" Lydia's progression seems to be close to our metaknowledge, Erica is still as we expect." The clone said.
Hearing that, Markus smiled.
His plans were coming together, at the right time too.
" Keep an eye out on them, and also find me dispensable people that no one will miss." Markus ordered, getting a nod from his clone.
" Also, where is Magic Markus?" Markus asked, using the nickname that he had given some of the clones.
Recon Markus, Scientist's Markus and Magic Markus who he had created to practice their magical skills.
" He is still with the Ex-Hunter." Recon Markus replied.
" Good, before you leave, make sure to tell him of the deadline and for him to obtain that skill as soon as possible, even if he has ruin the Ex-Hunter." Markus told it.
Recon Markus hearing that had a raised brow." Are you sure? She could be a great resource."
" We've already created a serum that could turn anyone into Damphir, and we've already comprehended and understood all the runes on her body." Markus told them off handedly.
He wanted everything to go smoothly, if he had to waste a resource he'd do it.
" Plus, if Magic Markus succeeds then she will still be useful." He reassured his clone.
Hearing that the clone nodded, slipping out of their lab as if he never existed.
Left with his thoughts even as the multiple clones in white robes continued their research, he mulled over their plans and how to carefully hammer it out.
But quickly he pulled himself out of that funk, he had research and a serum to create.
—[6 Day's Before Deadline]—
He and his clones had made great strides in their research.
In one day they have been able to reconstruct the werewolf and vampire DNA to allow foreign DNA inside their Double Helix DNA structure.
With this they created their first prototype serum, using animal DNA.
[—Item Name - Unstable Were-Lion Chimera Serum.
—Rank - D
—Info - A serum created by Markus McCall, using DNA from a werewolf and a lion— created in order to fuse two creatures characteristics into a human body and in doing so making them half werewolf and half lion, but failing in making it stable.
—Effects - Has a 10% chance at changing a human into a Chimera– Half Werewolf/Half Lion.
—Effects - Has a 90% chance at mutating the injected into a mindless fusion of werewolf and lion creature with a deformed body.
—Catalysts—
1 ~ In order for the serum to work, the recipient needs to be human.
²In order for the serum to perfectly Intergrate with a human, they need a source of mystical energy running through their body in tandem with the serum.

The serum was a bust, with an astronomical chance of turning a human into mindless abomination.
Not stable at all and useless.
The problem came when a supernatural creatures DNA tried fusing with a normal animals DNA.
Immediately the stronger DNA which was the werewolves would spiral and unravel, getting corrupted as it consumed the weaker animals DNA.
But still, they were able to obtain crucial Data and ideas on how to stabilize their serum.
—[4 Days Before Deadline]—
Their research bore another breakthrough, this time one of great significance.
While studying the assimilation and fusion process of the two supernatural strains of DNA, both vampire and werewolf they had managed to extract the gene responsible for the supernatural factor in them.
The gene was blank, a blank slate with no DNA strand of any creature and existed in both werewolf and vampires.
When extracted, the DNA structure of both creatures quickly deteriorated, breaking down in seconds.
With their new breakthrough they then started using the said gene as the base for the assimilation.
Using the gene which they now dubbed — Gene to connect supernatural and animal DNA.
This had great success too but the resulting serum wasn't as strong as they had presumed it would be.
[—Item Name - Were-Lion Chimera Serum.
—Rank - B
—Info - A serum created by Markus McCall, using DNA from a werewolf and a lion— created in order to fuse two creatures characteristics into a human body and in doing so making them half werewolf and half lion.
—Effects - Has a 100% chance at changing a human into a Chimera– Half Werewolf/Half Lion.
—Effects - Has a 10% chance at of making the resulting human a full shifter without the need of becoming an Alpha of their species.
—Catalysts—
1 ~ In order for the serum to work, the recipient needs to be human.
²In order for the serum to perfectly Intergrate with a human, they need a source of mystical energy running through their body in tandem with the serum.

The serum worked, yes but the resulting creature would be only just as strong as a newly bitten beta werewolf.
But it didn't matter, they were on to something and had time to perfect their serum.
And with the success they now had, they were technically done with the Chimera Project.
Being able to fuse two or if they liked, more genes into one.
But now with the discovery of the Potentia–Gene, what he had named the blank gene, Markus' ambitions grew.
An idea surfacing at the forefront of his mind, a bold and ambitious one it was—but it also granted the most benefits.
So with a heavy heart even as he stared at the red and gold serum in his hands, he stashed the serum besides the cryogenic fridge which housed their failures.
" Okay, it's time to begin creating the True Chimera Serum." Markus stayed, garnering the curious glances from his clones who were all munching on burritos.
