Chapter 26 - Restart

"Have you heard the news about the Demon king recently?"

Grey looked at Queen Lacra with curiosity.

"No, what happened?"

"He was killed. My spies informed me of it recently. It's been kept secret for quite a while now."

"What I knew he lost his mind after confronting the Future King but he shouldn't die so easily? He can see the future, he's a stage 8 warrior and leviathan class magician with 7 mana circles in his heart."

"It was a man of unknown origins named Kiseki and a lady noble named Regina. Kiseki claimed that he too could see the future and that he should replace the defunct Demon King. He proved it by predicting various events and even located an underground world tree root within an abandoned mine without ever setting foot there."

"What about Regina?"

"She is very astute in political matters. She shows up to nearly all the banquets that the noble demons have and had a reputation as a vicious and jealous noble but her reputation has improved significantly after working with Kiseki."

"That still doesn't explain how they killed the Demon King?"

"Kiseki killed the Demon King personally. Regina did most of the politicking to get there. The stories say he summoned a sea of red lights in order to do so. Any other details have been completely hidden."

The sky turned dark. The arrival of the Future Kings envoys within a nightfighter along with a sudden burst of cold wind from the sky attracted their attention. The cold air from high in the sky had been pushed down directly upon them by the speed and movement of the nightfighter ship.

"They're here."

Lacra looked at the humongous silhouette of the nightfighter with a fierce look. She was determined to ensure the future of her kingdom whatever the Future King may want.

Everything had gone about the same. The meeting and the agreements and the schedule that the transmigrators had begun to follow. Jannet went along with working with the many organizations to make the space platform run as smoothly as possible when it officially opened. Natsumi and Keith explored the city and found the dragon egg.

Kiseki was ruling the Demon Lands or as they called themselves the World Nexus in place of the now deceased demon king.

"Kiseki the envoys of the Future King have arrived within the Avenus Kingdom as you predicted."

Kiseki sat leisurely within his private room while hearing the message from his informant. His desk had a typewriter and was full of different papers with administrative work.

"I see, You may leave now." Kiseki said tiredly.

'Why did I think becoming the demon king after killing the previous demon king was a good idea. Oh yeah, I got pressured into it by Regina. I've done nothing but work after taking over the Nexus Lands, the workload left behind by him is frankly absurd. I'm so busy I don't even know what to do for this loop now that those monsters called the Envoys have arrived. They aren't even called the Envoys yet as they haven't revealed their strength. What was I thinking confronting in the previous cycle?'

Kiseki sighed as he rested his face on his arms on the desk.

'Stupid mana fruit. Gave me the power trip of a lifetime just to get one shot the moment I confronted the Envoys for a real fight. However!'

He held out his palm in the air as a sharingan grew from nothing in the air, hovering over his palm.

'This power managed to carry over with my time loop! It feels good to finally have some permanent growth after 57 loops. It's a shinjutsu called the Hyakumeen. Though I'm not quite sure what came over me to come up with such a japanese name for my most powerful spell. And shinjutsu? When did I think of that? In retrospect I really should not have eaten the mana fruit, it affected my judgement and got me killed right away. If I can accumulate enough power over enough loops using this innate spell I might be able to fight back against the Envoys.'

The castle of the Demon King Kiseki was the same as before but floating eyes that glowed an ominous red flew around in an almost playful manner all around the castle. The eyes even flew into the city where they actually became something of a phenomenon where the eyes were considered good luck or just thought of something like a butterfly.

After all the reason they called themselves the Nexus Lands is because they were a land filled to the brim with natural energy. Generations of druid magic which was just the use of natural energy had led to countless mutations within the population creating the race colloquially known as 'demons.'

The eyes had widely become Kiseki's symbol and the old cult that worshipped the previous demon king even rebranded into the Order of the Eyes.

'I suppose I can finish this loop by fighting the Envoys to collect more information on their abilities. Then in the next loop I'll avoid killing the demon king and team up with Regina again.'

Kiseki shook his head in bewilderment.

'What's the deal with Regina? She's obsessed with this whole male leads and female leads romance plot and 'capture' targets and all other kinds of otome logic. I'm surprised I even managed to convince to help me take the Demon Kings position. But what else am I supposed to expect from another otherworlder. She's crazy.'

Kiseki sent out an order to arrange a meeting between him and the Envoys. Along with another request for a duel between him and any of the envoys.

This soon became a widespread rumor across all of the Nexus lands. The rumor that the new Demon King was going to challenge the envoys of the Future King to a duel in the coming days.

"Kiseki are you sure you want to challenge those guys to a duel."

Regina confronted Kiseki over dinner.

"You told me they instantly killed you in your previous loop. Won't they just instantly kill you again?"

"This time no. I am not their direct enemy unlike last time. So at the very least they will humor me by holding back much of their power, with that I can obtain information on what kinds of abilities they have for my next cycle."

Kiseki placed his utensils down as he finished his dinner.

"Pretty much every knight or magician eventually specialized into one kind of spell or discipline. The previous demon king asides from his foresight was a master of wind magic. I myself have obtained an ability that I will definitely specialize in over time. So I will find their specialization.

Regina nodded to the explanation.

A few days passed.

Kiseki was totally overwhelmed.

"How many abilities does this guy have!"
