Chapter 667 - chapter 657 No expensive watch.

As the biting chill of the winter wind outside began to subside slightly, the stifling heat trapped within the room remained entirely unabated. The moment Viktor relaxed his iron grip, Alia jerked backward, pulling herself away and curling up tightly in the far corner of the mattress. Her chest heaved rapidly with exhaustion, and the stray tears tracking down her pale cheeks left damp trails in the dim light.

Unfazed, Viktor reached casually across the bedside table, pulling open a sleek black case. He slid a thick, dark cigarillo from the pack, touched it to his lips, and clicked a heavy lighter to life, drawing in a long, slow drag. The sharp, glowing red ember of the cigar cast an eerie, shifting shadow across the subdued shadows of the room. His heavy, predatory eyes remained lazily yet piercingly locked onto Alia's trembling frame.

"What's wrong, my sweet girl... why are you shaking so much?" Viktor's voice drifted through the tense, smoke-hazy air. "You're the one who begged to rule at my side in this dark empire. If your breath fails you over something this trivial, how do you expect to survive the rest of my reign?"

Alia remained entirely silent. She simply wrapped her arms tightly around her shivering body, staring blankly down at the floorboards. The wild, unhinged sense of ownership burning in Viktor's gaze served as a brutal, constant reminder that there was no escape from this cage here, absolute obedience to his every command was the only path left.

The echo of Viktor's cruel and humiliating words hung heavy within the four walls of the room, making every fiber of Alia's body tremble. She pulled her knees tightly against her chest, curling completely into the corner of the mattress. Tears streamed down her cheeks, but she lacked the courage to let out even a whimper. The raw, vicious insult he had hurled at her pierced straight to the core of her heart.

Alia simply could not comprehend how a human being could be so merciless, so brutal, and so entirely devoid of empathy. She had thought that stepping into the glamour, power, and name of this dark world would elevate her to new heights. She never imagined that this empire was not a golden throne, but a terrifying hell where human dignity and existence ceased to matter—a place ruled by absolute domination and laws more primitive than a beast's.

The glowing red tip of the thick cigarillo in Viktor's hand flickered in the darkness. Unfazed, he took another long, slow drag and exhaled a thick cloud of smoke. The hazy air inside the room grew even heavier and more suffocating. Viktor casually stood up from the bed. As his tall, powerful frame cast a shadow directly over Alia, her heart felt as though it had stopped. In sheer terror, she tightly shut her eyes, wishing she could vanish from the scene entirely.

Yet, there was not an ounce of mercy in Viktor. Reaching out, he grabbed a fistful of Alia's hair and forcefully yanked her chin upward once more. His hot breath, laced with the scent of tobacco, washed directly over her face.

"What is this? Why are you trembling so much, my sweet girl?" A terrifying, mocking smile played on Viktor's lips. "Did you actually think becoming the queen of this dark empire would be easy? Did you think you would simply wear a crown and rule beside me? Everyone who sets foot in this world must have their flesh, blood, self-respect, and pride crushed beneath my feet first. You cannot move a single inch against my will. You are my property, nothing more than a toy for my whims."

Alia tried to open her eyes, but she couldn't bear to meet his feral, unhinged gaze. Her throat was bone-dry. In a faint, broken whisper, she managed to force out, "Let me... let me go... please, set me free..."

Viktor paused for a single second. His dark gaze grew sharper, more intense. Then, a cold, icy smile curved across his mouth.

"Freedom?" Viktor's voice boomed, rattling the glass panes of the window. "There is no escape from this darkness, even in death, Alia. You walked into this cage of your own accord. Now, you will bow your head and accept every single insult, every blow, and every command this place demands. You deserve to be treated like a wild animal, because it was your own stubborn defiance that dragged you to this fate."

Snuffing out the burning cigar in the ashtray, Viktor tightened his grip mercilessly on her chin. His reckless, cruel possessiveness shattered every last trace of resistance left in Alia's mind. In the dim, flickering light of the room, their trapped, breathless reality took on the ultimate shade of a dark, inescapable abyss, with no road left back.

With a sudden jerk, Alia wrenched her hair free from Viktor's grasp and sat up straight on the bed. The glass-like tears instantly vanished from her eyes, replaced by a wide, triumphant grin. Winking at Viktor, she burst into a bright, sparkling laugh.

"Enough! You went full method actor on me before the director even called cut, Mr. Viktor!" Alia said, giggling, every trace of her previous fear entirely gone. "How was that scene? Was our emotion completely on point according to the script?"

Viktor dropped his fierce, terrifying villainous mask, breaking into a relaxed grin as he leaned back on the bed. Reaching over to the table, he tossed the prop cigarillo—now completely cold—into the ashtray and replied, "On point? Honestly, seeing your tears and trembling in front of the camera almost made me feel like a genuine psychopath. A little behind-the-scenes rehearsal never hurts, though."

The heavy, suffocating terror that had filled the room moments ago was completely gone. Beneath the dim studio lights, the two of them burst into playful banter, reviewing their performance for the recent shot. Behind the masks of the dark romance queen and her merciless, dominating hero, they were simply two professional, high-energy colleagues fine-tuning their characters behind the scenes to keep their audience completely hooked.

"I'm going to take a bath now, Viktor," Alia said, swinging her legs off the side of the bed with a tired yet relieved smile.

Before her feet could even touch the floor, Viktor moved with lightning speed, reaching out to firmly grab her ankle. The playful, cheerful expression on his face instantly shifted back into a deep, intense gaze. The atmosphere of their rehearsal shoot still lingered in the room, where they effortlessly slid back and forth into their characters.

Reaching out to brush a stray lock of Alia's long hair away from her shoulder, Viktor leaned in close. In a low, velvety voice, he murmured in Russian, "Куда ты собралась, моя красавица?" (Kuda ty sobralas', moya krasavitsa? — Where are you going, my beauty?)

Hearing Viktor's smooth Russian pronunciation and catching the fierce, possessive look in his eyes, Alia let out a soft laugh. Making a playful, mock effort to pull her foot away, she replied in a sweet, teasing tone, "Oh, Mr. Viktor, the shoot is over! Let go for a second so I can head to the bathroom. My makeup and hair are completely ruined with sweat."

Yet, Viktor refused to loosen his grip. Shifting even closer, he replied in Russian once more, "Никуда ты не пойдешь, пока я не разрешу, моя маленькая куколка." (Nikuda ty ne poydesh', poka ya ni razreshu, moya malen'kaya kukolka — You aren't going anywhere until I say so, my little doll.)

This blend of off-screen banter and in-character dialogue completely lightened the mood in the room. Both Alia and Viktor knew that while their dark chemistry on screen sent shivers down the audience's spine, these small, fun moments behind the scenes were what instantly washed away the fatigue of a long day's work.

As Alia stepped into the bathroom and closed the door, the heavy, suffocating atmosphere of the room instantly melted away. As the cool stream of the shower began to wash away her fatigue, she softly began to hum a sweet Russian melody. Her gentle, melodious voice drifted through the frosted glass door, carrying out into the bedroom and catching Viktor's attention.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Viktor perked up as he listened to the tune. Hearing Alia sing in Russian was a completely delightful and unexpected surprise. A curious, charmed smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Without wasting another second, he stood up and walked across the room, stopping right outside the bathroom door.

Giving the door a light, teasing tap, Viktor spoke in a low, amused tone, "Well, well! Behind the scenes, my queen can secretly sing beautiful Russian melodies, too. Open the door just a crack so I can enjoy this private concert up close."

Peeking through a crack in the bathroom door, Alia flashed a mischievous grin and said, "No, no, the private concert is over! You better get ready for your office instead, or you're going to be late for your meeting."

Viktor let out a light chuckle and shook his head. He walked over to his dressing table and began getting ready for work. As he went to adjust his collar, he suddenly noticed that his most expensive and favorite watch was missing from the table. He searched everywhere inside and outside the drawers, but it was nowhere to be found.

Viktor's eyes widened in sheer astonishment. He was certain he had left the watch right there last night! This didn't make any sense at all.

At that exact moment, the bathroom door clicked open, and Alia walked back into the room, fresh from her shower and dressed comfortably with a smile on her face.
