[POV - ???] [Unknown Location - Hall of Conspiracies]
BANG!
The bony fist slammed on the table with force that made the marble crack. Fissures spread like spider webs, a silent warning of what happened when gods lost their patience.
— We simply cannot tolerate this! — the voice echoed through the hall, coming from a skull wreathed in purple flames. Hades. The lord of the Greek underworld. And he was pissed.
Around the table, other gods murmured in agreement. Deities who had never gotten along with the celestial system — some out of pride, others from ancient grudges, some just because they liked watching the circus burn.
But this hall didn't just have gods, no.
Red-eyed devils watched from the shadows. Hooded mages whispered protection spells. Fallen heroes — those who had chosen the wrong side of history — mentally sharpened their blades.
It was a collection of resentments, each more dangerous than the last.
And at the center of it all, with that smile of someone who already knew the punchline before everyone else, was Loki.
— I've already planned my moves — said the Norse god, leaning back in his chair with casual arrogance. — But I also realize it won't be enough.
Murmurs.
The entire room seemed to hold its breath.
— I heard — Loki continued, smile widening — that we've made a breakthrough in that...
TAP. TAP. TAP.
The sound of fingers drumming on the table cut through the silence like a sharp blade. All eyes turned.
Rizevim Livan Lucifer.
The Super Devil himself, relaxed in his chair as if he'd just woken from a good nap. Silver hair falling over his shoulders, eyes gleaming with cruel amusement.
— Yes, indeed — he said, voice drawled and dangerous. — We've managed to bring evil dragons back to life.
Deathly silence.
— Crom Cruach — he counted on his fingers. — Apophis. Aži Dahāka.
Each name fell in the room like a bomb. Dragons that had been sealed, imprisoned, forgotten for good reasons. And now...
— Hmmm... — Rizevim paused, pretending to think. — We need another Infinity Dragon, don't we? Apparently, Ophis is too afraid to go against the Biblical God now that he's returned.
He laughed. Low, amused, as if everything were a private joke.
— With my help and a relic from the past, I created something to suppress her power temporarily. Ophis went with the Vali Team to search for Yuuki Rito. — His eyes gleamed dangerously. — At this moment, we should extract Ophis's power.
CRACK.
Another crack opened in the table. This time, from pure tension.
Hades leaned forward, the skull glowing with cold fire.
— I also freed Samael from Cocytus — he said, voice laden with morbid satisfaction. — Now we can use him for the removal of Ophis's power. Since she abandoned us, taking her power wouldn't be a problem, right?
The smiles around the table were sharp as knives.
No one answered.
They didn't need to.
[POV - Vali Lucifer] [Near the Yuuki Residence]
WHOOSH.
The wind cut Vali's face as he walked down the residential street, hands in pockets, trying to look casual.
It wasn't working.
— Hm, are you sure this is the best idea? — Bikou asked for the tenth time, voice trembling like a leaf in a storm.
The monkey yokai was sweating cold. And it wasn't because of the heat.
He had felt — fleetingly but terrifyingly — the power of that being. Yuuki Rito. The human who wasn't human. The boy who was the Biblical God reincarnated.
And now they were going to knock on his door.
What a brilliant idea.
— I'm sure that if we act reasonably — Vali responded, voice firm but not as confident as he'd like — he won't destroy us immediately.
— Immediately — Kuroka repeated, cat ears twitching nervously. — What a reassuring word, nya.
The nekomata was pale. And look, she had light skin normally. Now she looked like a ghost.
Even Ophis — the damn Infinity Dragon, the creature who used to fear nothing — was hiding behind Arthur, holding a package of cookies like it was a protective shield.
She'd only come because Vali had bribed her with sweets.
Lots of sweets.
Arthur Pendragon, always the gentleman, cleared his throat.
— Vali — he began, choosing his words carefully — I'm not questioning your leadership, but... you have a plan, right? Like, an actual plan? Not just "let's go there and see what happens"?
— Of course I have a plan — Vali lied shamelessly.
— Liar — Le Fay sang, Arthur's younger sister smiling nervously. — I can feel when you lie, Vali-san. It's like... a magical tingling.
Damn.
Fenrir, the giant wolf, growled softly.
— If he tries to kill me, I bite first — he declared.
— You're not biting anyone — Vali ordered.
— But—
— Anyone.
Gogmagog, the stone golem, just grunted something incomprehensible. Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie — the Chinese immortals — exchanged worried looks.
— Vali-dono — Sha Wujing began, voice grave — with all due respect... we're about to confront someone who is the Creator reincarnated. Do you understand the magnitude of this?
— Totally — Vali responded.
— And yet, we're going forward?
— Exactly.
— ...You're crazy, nya — Kuroka murmured.
— Probably — Vali admitted with a crooked smile.
GULP.
Bikou swallowed hard, looking at the approaching house. It was... normal. Frighteningly normal. Two stories, well-kept garden, white fence.
Nothing that screamed "the Biblical God lives here in human form."
And that, somehow, was more terrifying.
— Okay — Arthur took a deep breath, adjusting the sword at his waist. — What's the exact plan? We arrive, knock on the door, and...?
— And we speak politely — Vali responded. — We explain that we're not enemies. That we just want to talk.
— About what? — Le Fay asked, curious.
— About... — Vali hesitated — ...things. Important things.
— Very specific — Kuroka commented sarcastically.
— Look — Vali stopped, turning to face the group — I know it seems crazy. And it probably is. But Ophis needs to know if she can trust him. And I... I need to see with my own eyes who this guy really is.
Ophis, finally, spoke. Voice soft, almost inaudible:
— I'm afraid.
Silence.
The Infinity Dragon. The creature that had faced Great Red. The entity that knew no fear.
Was afraid.
Of meeting her own Creator face to face.
— I know — Vali said gently. — But that's why we have to go. To know if your fear is justified or not.
— And if it is? — Bikou asked, voice thin.
— Then we run very fast.
— Great plan — Arthur murmured.
They reached the gate. The Yuuki house rose ahead, windows glowing with warm light. Sounds of laughter came from inside. Female voices, cheerful, carefree.
Too normal.
Too dangerous.
— Last chance to turn back — Vali offered.
No one moved.
— Okay — he took a deep breath. — Let's go.
Step. Step. Step.
Slow steps down the stone path. Each one sounding like a funeral drum beat.
Kuroka held Le Fay's hand. Bikou gripped his staff tightly. Arthur placed his hand on the sword hilt. Fenrir growled softly. Gogmagog prepared to become a human shield — or would it be stone shield?
Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie murmured ancient prayers.
Ophis just ate her cookies, empty eyes fixed on the door, knowing that behind it waited the being who had created everything — including her.
Vali stopped in front of the entrance. The doorbell gleamed, innocent, inviting.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
His heart beat like a hammer.
— Here we go — he whispered.
And pressed the doorbell.
DING-DONG~
The sound echoed through the house. Cheerful, musical, completely inappropriate for the moment.
Footsteps approached from the other side. Light, carefree.
The doorknob turned.
CLICK.
The door opened.
And there he was.
Yuuki Rito.
Messy brown hair, kind eyes, confused but friendly smile. Wearing a simple shirt and casual pants. He looked... completely normal.
But Vali could feel it. Everyone could feel it.
The invisible weight. The pressure in the air. As if reality itself was holding its breath in the presence of its Creator.
— Hi? — Rito said, tilting his head. — Can I help you?
GULP.
Vali tried to speak. His mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.
Behind him, Bikou was frozen. Kuroka had turned into a statue. Even Fenrir had stopped growling, instinct telling him he was facing something far beyond his comprehension.
Arthur cleared his throat, trying to save the situation:
— Mr. Yuuki Rito, I presume? My name is Arthur Pendragon. We... um... would like to have a word with you. If it's not too much trouble.
Rito blinked, still confused.
— Sure? — he said slowly. — But... you are...?
— Friends — Vali finally found his voice. — We hope to be friends.
— Friends who bring a giant wolf? — Rito looked at Fenrir, amused.
— He's... a pet — Le Fay offered weakly.
— Huh — Rito scratched his head. — Okay then. Want to come in? My fiancée just made cookies.
He opened the door completely, as if inviting a group of potentially dangerous people into his home was the most normal thing in the world.
Or perhaps, when you're literally God, you don't worry about threats.
Vali exchanged looks with Arthur.
Was this a trap?
Or did he really not care?
Or was he so powerful that nothing they could do mattered?
They didn't know.
But they entered anyway.
Because, honestly, what else could they do?
Refusing homemade cookies would be rude.
And you never, never are rude to the Creator of everything.
STEP.
One by one, they entered the house.
And the door closed behind them with a soft CLICK.
Like a mouth closing.
Or a trap springing.
Or perhaps just a door closing, because when you're God reincarnated, you don't need traps.
Time would tell which.
