'A wise man submits to circumstances,' the Bei clan head thought to herself. All she could do right now was watch the situation and wait for it to play out. 'There is one alternative. I could take that woman hostage,' she considered. It looked like the two of them had a very close relationship with each other. However, that lady was Rank 3 Peak Stage, and even if she had a cold, it would not be easy to subdue her even if she went out to fight herself. And there was a high chance that Fang Yuan would find out. 'It's too risky,' she thought, ultimately concluding that there indeed was little that they could do, no matter how much she hated to admit it.
"Bai Ning Bing, let's go," Fang Yuan said, walking into their tent. "You can take out the White Form Immortal Snake Gu."
Bai Ning Bing got up. She felt far better after taking whatever medication that Fang Yuan had given to her and was eager to leave. She could feel it deep down within her: the stares of the Bai clansmen.
They were not welcome here, even if they were called guests. The only reason that they were not trapped here was because of Fang Yuan's cultivation level, and because of the White Form Immortal Snake. Gu Without that, she felt like these Bei clansmen would very soon pounce upon them.
"Alright, let's leave," she said. To her surprise, Fang Yuan did not take them straight to Bei Gu Mountain, but rather in the other direction towards the forest where they had come from. The Bei clansmen had naturally set up investigative methods and relayed this back to the Bai clan head.
'He didn't head towards the mountain. He went towards the forest,' she thought to herself. 'But why?'
Their scouts could not keep up with Fang Yuan and a Rank 5 Gu worm, of course, especially not in the wilderness where it was not possible for anyone lower than Rank 3 to survive, but it looked definitive that they had gone in that direction, and they had not circled back to Bei Gu Mountain as of yet.
'Did he get dissuaded and leave?' the Bei clan head thought to herself. She thought it very unlikely, but if that was the outcome, it was one of the best ones. 'Maybe all of that talk about wanting to check himself was just blather.' She checked the map in the place where Fang Yuan had pointed to. 'Maybe we should arrange for our hunting expedition to be near that point?'
Despite all of this and the fact that she should be relaxing due to the fact that Fang Yuan was gone, she had an uneasy feeling developing in her stomach as if she had missed out on something.
"Fang Yuan, where are we going?" Bai Ning Bing asked.
"To get some gu worms," Fang Yuan answered.
"I think I know where it is that we have to go on the mountain," Fang Yuan said. "However, my gu worms aren't suitable for fighting bone creatures."
His strongest offensive gu other than the Blood Guillotine, was the Vermillion Blood Moon Gu. Its main use was the fact that it could cause bleeding and hemorrhage. However, bone-type beasts, which littered Bei Gu Mountain, did not have very well-developed vascular systems and its effectiveness was greatly blunted against them.
Even during his initial scouting of the area, he had found that he was having far more difficulty than a Rank 5 Gu Master should be having while fighting through the beast ranks. Thankfully, there was a source of Rank 4 gu worms nearby.
"Rank 4 gu worms from where?" Bai Ning Bing asked, as Fang Yuan was talking as if he intended to stroll into a shop and buy them.
Fang Yuan circled upon an area and she realized what it was that he planned to do.
"You plan to fight the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant? You have guts I'll give you that..."
This was the area in which the Tracker Puppet had seen it, and Fang Yuan was able to identify it easily enough.
It was easily seen even in the fading dusklight, it had a very characteristic appearance, being very brightly colored. In addition, being a Myriad Beast King, it did not often encounter those who could attack it. If anything, it was the predator and the others were the prey.
It would go around attacking and killing Thousand Beast Kings with wanton fury. If Fang Yuan had been Rank 3 and had wandered into the wilderness like he had initially planned, he would have had no choice but to hide until it left.
The Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant looked like it was about to settle in for the night when it felt the White Form Immortal Snake's aura. It immediately turned its eyes straight at Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing, who were descending upon it rapidly. Its speed could not match up to the White Form Immortal Snake, and it realized that it had to attack or be killed.
It was an existence that was very difficult for even Rank 4 Peak Stage Gu Masters to fight. The fact that Fang Yuan did not know what kind of gu worms they had made it all the more dangerous.
However, there was a reason why he chose to fight it rather than going straight to fight the bone beasts located on Bei Gu Mountain. He separated from the White Form Immortal Snake once they got close, his wings sprouting from his back as he left Bai Ning Bing to control the White Form Immortal Snake, which danced around the phoenix as it spread its wings and got ready for battle.
The sky suddenly became illuminated in all seven colors of the rainbow. It looked much like the Aurora Borealis back on Earth, except multiplied by a factor of ten.
Even though by now the sun had almost completely set, it looked like the sky was illuminated as if it was still mid-afternoon. Fang Yuan had many of his clansmen's will kept in his integration Gu, and so he activated them right now.
Mortal Killer Move - Hope of the Clansman!
He used this to boost the power of his Vermillion Blood Moon Blade. It was less effective against the bone beasts of Bei Gu Mountain, however, against the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant the wide arc made a massive gash on its body and it began bleeding severely, the blood mixing in and tainting its otherwise colorful plumage.
It shrieked in pain and agony. Before, it had its attention split between the White Form Immortal Snake and Fang Yuan, but now its entire attention was focused on Fang Yuan. It opened its beak and a stream of rainbow light shot out at Fang Yuan, who activated his defensive gu worm in time, Moonlight Plate Armor Gu. If he had not been Rank 5, his primeval essence likely would have ran out before he could continue sustaining the armor. However, with Rank 5 Initial Stage essence, it was more than enough of an easy matter to do so.
It shrieked in rage, and then suddenly its body began to glow.
It was activating a movement type gu worm!
Fang Yuan shouted out at Bai Ning Bing who understood what to do. The phoenix then shot out into the sky almost as fast as a flash of light, or at least tried to. At the last moment before its gu could fully activate, the White Form Immortal Snake immediately bit its leg, weighing it down and slowing it down during its ascent. Its movement speed was still nothing to laugh at despite this handicap. It could almost rival that of the Rank 5 White Form Immortal Snake with the help of this gu worm, but it could only be sustained for five breath's of time. Not enough to get away from them.
Droplets of blood rained down onto the ground with each wingbeat from the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant. Its initially glorious appearance with a shining golden crown was marred by the crimson liquid almost completely coating it. The droplets stained the forest below the color of dark red. There were screams of various beasts all around as they saw the fight, many of them realizing that they were outmatched and scampering far away from wherever it was going on.
