Fang Yuan, for his part, was indifferent to Wang Tian's plight.
Fang Yuan was observing the humans of the Fang Yuan Continent, but he was not going to interfere. To him, the rise and fall of a tiny tribe was a common occurrence that happened on that continent, hardly worth a second thought.
He had paid Wang Tian a bit of attention earlier, but Wang Tian was only Rank 1, and this attention had been fleeting.
Fang Yuan had other things to do, as it was.
He took his attention away from his aperture and instead turned towards the landscape around Bei Gu Mountain.
At first glance, it seemed to be the exact same as it had been just a few days before. The sun was beginning to set, signifying that the day was to end.
But that was only when one took an eagle's eye look at the area.
With his methods, one could easily see the amount of destruction his 'experimentation' had caused. It was even more destructive than a natural disaster - a simple earthquake or a flood couldn't have caused the chaos that Fang Yuan did.
Paradise Earth had gone ahead and restored the bodies of those he had killed, sure, but he hadn't restored the parts of the villages they had broken down.
People were milling about houses with holes in their rooves, or broken village walls, or broken roads. Even if that wasn't the case, people would look and see that they had broken some of their possessions in their emotional outbursts. They were still quite active even given the time of day simply trying to quickly patch over the most dangerous parts of this issue - which were mainly the walls surrounding the villages.
Worse yet was the fact that this was just considering the neighboring clans whom Fang Yuan had targeted.
Gu Yue Village was in some ways, worse off, as well as better off.
Better off in the fact that they hadn't died and so the damage they incurred was somewhat minimized given Fang Yuan's use of Familial Emotion had lasted for a far shorter period of time than when he had been perfecting it on the other clans.
Worse off, however, in the fact that they vividly remembered what had occurred. The people of the neighboring clans were mostly wandering around in bewilderment; like they had just woken up hungover and seen their village in tatters.
The Gu Yue Villagers, however, remembered every single detail. And once this had all worn off, naturally they would be frightened by what was going on.
Fang Yuan still intended to make good use of them using Familial Emotion Gu, not to mention he had future plans for Fang Zheng, and so could not completely neglect them.
On the other hand though, his immediate use for them had run out and he had other places to be.
He descended upon Gu Yue Village, calling out to Fang Zheng.
"Ah... brother... have you dealt with what was going on?" Fang Zheng asked.
Fang Yuan gave his brother a reassuring smile. "Yes, I have. Tomorrow, I can go ahead and meet with the other villages personally and explain what happened. It is a true tragedy that something like this had to happen right when I was arranging a banquet for everyone. Ah, I had hoped that by dining and drinking together I could bring everyone together, but right then, this kind of calamity struck like lightning..." Fang Yuan had a slightly ashen expression on his face as he shook his head.
"Ah b-brother, there's no need to be depressed," Fang Zheng said. There had been many times when Fang Zheng had been jealous of his elder brother's success, hoping that one day he could see his brother fail. Now though, he was firmly in Fang Yuan's camp and seeing Fang Yuan despondent caused his heart to ache. He couldn't help but try and cheer his older brother up. "I'm sure that the other villages appreciated your gesture - not to mention, you were the hero who saved everyone in the end! Imagine what would've happened if you hadn't come to our rescue..."
Fang Yuan nodded as if reluctantly accepting his younger brother's praise. "We have other things to discuss regarding the future of our clan, Fang Zheng. Tell Qing Shu that he should meet with us tomorrow morning."
"Are you sure it should wait until tomorrow?" Fang Zheng asked. "Even if he's asleep, if you called, he'd surely wake up and come here at once."
"No need to worry him, it is urgent, but not that urgent," Fang Yuan said. "How is everything in the village? Are things recovering?"
"People are still in a bit of shock, but things are slowly getting back to normal," Fang Zheng said. "I think in about a week's time, we should be back to the way things were."
Fang Yuan coldly sneered inwardly - that meant that he could use the killer move Familial Emotion roughly every week without it causing a massive issue with Gu Yue Village. "And how did the former Bai and Xiong Clansmen handle things?"
"Weirdly enough, they weren't that effected by what was going on," Fang Zheng muttered. "Brother! I was even beginning to wonder if what happened was a plot of the Bai or Xiong Clan?"
The Bai and Xiong Clansmen were not related to Fang Yuan, and hence Familial Emotion had done nothing to them. They made up only a minority of the new Gu Yue Village, but they could not be ignored completely. It was best for Fang Yuan if they interbred with the Gu Yue Clansmen, but he couldn't see any immediate policies that he could enact that would encourage such a thing without having negative repercussions.
Without a doubt though, both of these groups of people would've found the behavior of the Gu Yue Clansmen to be quite odd.
Fang Yuan shook his head. "No. This was beyond the world of mortals. It couldn't have been planned by them. As for why they weren't affected... well, perhaps they were simply lucky?"
Even some of the Gu Yue Clansmen had been spared. The reason being was that a small minority of them were not technically Gu Yue Clansmen but the result of infidelity at some point with people outside the clan, and their bloodlines had diverged from Fang Yuan's. Even if such cases were rare, over the timespan of over a thousand years they had accumulated with some of them surviving the events on Qing Mao Mountain.
"Oh..." Fang Zheng said. He still suspected the Bai and the Xiong Clansmen, but if his brother was saying that this wasn't the case, his brother was likely correct.
A chilly breeze blew through the Clan Head's Pavilion. "Ah, I know that you must want to get some sleep, but there is something that I need to ask of you," Fang Yuan said.
"What is that?" Fang Zheng asked eagerly, though this eagerness diminished at Fang Yuan's next set of words.
"I want you to spar with me," Fang Yuan said. "I think the courtyard outside is well enough for now. So long as we restrict our power, it shouldn't be an issue."
"S-Spar with you, Big Brother?" Fang Zheng asked, shocked. "But why?"
"Because," Fang Yuan said, a hint of frostiness returning to his voice. "I need to test out the limits of your ability."
Part of Fang Yuan's future plans required a strong Strength Path Gu Master at his disposal. Fang Zheng could be drowning in resources, but that still didn't necessarily mean that he understood how to use them. And without knowing that, he would always be at a disadvantage against more experienced enemies.
"But as a mortal to fight an Immortal..." Fang Zheng protested, the thought was nigh-inconceivable!
"Don't worry, I'll seal my cultivation to the Rank 5 level," Fang Yuan assured him. "I just want to know how strong you've gotten. And I need to make sure that you're prepared for what the future might hold."
