What am I gonna do?
The balcony overlooked an endless stretch of blue ocean, the waves glittering beneath the afternoon sun. White buildings climbed the distant hillsides, beautiful and unfamiliar, while warm foreign air brushed against Jean's skin.
It should have felt peaceful.
Instead, she felt trapped.
Tyler's arms remained wrapped around her waist from behind, his embrace disturbingly gentle… as though they were lovers sharing a quiet moment together instead of captor and prisoner.
His chin rested lightly on her shoulder while he admired the view with contentment.
"You like it?" He murmured softly. "I knew you would."
Jean's fingers curled tightly around the balcony railing. She wanted to tear herself away from him. She wanted to scream but the memory of the syringe burning into her skin still lingered fresh in her mind.
No… Fighting recklessly wouldn't save her.
Not anymore.
