"Chocolate?"
"Yes."
"Is this really the time to eat sweets?"
"It is medicine," Leng Pan explained. "Take half first. Eating too much might overwhelm your body."
Mei Lin carefully bit into it.
Her eyes widened.
"It tastes like normal chocolate."
"Medicine does not have to taste terrible," Leng Pan said.
She had always wondered why some people believed bitterness made medicine more effective.
Mei Lin finished half the piece.
Colour gradually returned to her face.
The energy inside the chocolate spread through her body and repaired some of the damage caused by the parasites.
Leng Pan placed a hand above her head.
"Close your eyes and relax."
Mist surrounded Mei Lin.
It entered her body slowly.
Leng Pan did not force the parasites out as she had done earlier. She weakened them one at a time, then guided them towards the least dangerous exit.
Mei Lin began coughing.
Several threadlike creatures came out of her mouth.
