Chapter 189 - Chapter 188: The Abyss Prince

Could the Tsaritsa save these humans?

Of course she could. If she were here in person, saving them would have been effortless.

But in her current state, she was merely a phantom-like existence. Releasing enough power to let these humans die without pain was her absolute limit.

The ice and snow brushed against Bai Luo's scarred body, as if to comfort him.

–You have done your best.

The blizzard gradually subsided, and several round, chubby Cryo Slimes condensed upon the icy surface.

They shook their little heads playfully, shaking off the accumulated snow, and looked around with slight confusion.

Such elemental monsters are usually born in places where Cryo energy is abundant, like Dragonspine or near Mist Flowers.

Bai Luo had previously wondered why there were Cryo Slimes in the wreckage of a ship filled with Electro energy—was an Abyss Mage controlling them?

Now it seemed they had manifested solely due to Her Majesty's influence.

The Tsaritsa looked at Tatyana, who was bowing in prostration nearby, and waved her hand gently. Upon the water's surface, which was plagued by the Tatarigami and the electricity from the Kamuijima Cannons, an ice path appeared—wide enough for a carriage to pass through.

Her meaning was clear.

Bai Luo sheathed the Reverse-Blade Sword in his hand. He wanted to say something.

But the wind and snow transformed into invisible hands, pushing his body away from the wreckage of the sunken ship.

When he reached the shore, the Shogunate soldiers dared not approach.

Bai Luo's arrow earlier had terrified them.

That terrifying power was not something a mortal could achieve; even some Vision wielders couldn't reach that level.

A Great Youkai? A God? An Adeptus?

Regardless of what level of existence Bai Luo was, he was certainly not someone these mortals could contend with.

It was only after watching Bai Luo and Tatyana disappear from the beaches of Tatarasuna that they finally breathed a sigh of relief.

That force pushed Bai Luo out of Tatarasuna's range, depositing him back near Nazuchi Beach.

Feeling the force gradually fade, Bai Luo turned back to look at the sea. Gazing into the distance, he could seemingly still see the mast that hadn't completely sunk.

Though he claimed not to care about those people, thinking of the old man who gave him the erhu caused a pang of distress in his heart.

It wasn't exactly sadness, but rather a sense of... powerlessness.

This made him sigh with emotion.

"A melody to sever the gut, yet 'tis near twilight (Sunsettia)..."

The moment these words left his mouth, both Tatyana following behind him and the phantom floating beside him paused simultaneously.

Then, seeing Bai Luo's hand move toward his waist where the Reverse-Blade Sword (and his inventory) was...

Whoosh— Piff—

The surrounding frost condensed beneath the Tsaritsa's phantom, forming a spherical mass of energy. After condensing to its limit, it abruptly detonated in mid-air.

Crystalline snowflakes drifted down, coating the sandy beach in a layer of pure white.

Looking back at Bai Luo's side, the Tsaritsa's phantom had vanished, leaving only a few ice crystals sparkling under the first rays of the morning sun.

Bai Luo: "..."

I didn't even take out a Sunsettia, did I?

Admittedly, he did have the intention of treating the Tsaritsa to a Sunsettia, but he only thought about it; he didn't say it out loud, right?

After all, if the Tsaritsa ate his Sunsettia, who knows if she would send Tartaglia over to torture him?

Regarding how... *ahem*, how "sweet" his fruits were, he had a pretty good idea in his heart.

"Sigh, I should head back to the Resistance first."

The matter of the refugee ship could at least serve as an explanation to his Pet Fish.

This trip had been a distressing experience; he needed to find some amusement with the Little Dog and the Pet Fish.

...

"To allow another God to act so willfully within her own territory... how interesting..."

On a cliff somewhere in Tatarasuna, a figure in black robes looked down at the wreckage in the sea, seemingly having discovered something intriguing.

Under the black robes, one could faintly make out the attire of an outlander.

The person's voice was very low, making it impossible to distinguish if they were male or female, but there was an unmistakable youthfulness to it.

They were likely not very old.

But in the continent of Teyvat, where anything is possible, one couldn't always judge age by appearance.

Perhaps the middle-aged man drinking tea on credit by the roadside was actually a grandfather who had lived for thousands of years.

"Your Highness."

Purple light flashed, and a small, furry creature appeared behind the figure, bowing respectfully.

It was an Abyss Mage, a monster from the Abyss.

The figure didn't even turn their head, asking aloud, "Status?"

"Lord Lector has successfully infiltrated Enkanomiya. As for here..."

Everyone nearby, including the Abyss Mage, must have seen the mushroom cloud that rose earlier.

It had originally assumed it was the work of its Highness, but now it seemed... it was someone else.

"That sunken ship should hold some clues. Investigate it and bring them to me."

A thoughtful glint passed through the figure's eyes. The opponent's methods did not seem to belong to this continent; that much was easily recognizable.

Could it be...

"But with such an incident occurring here, the Raiden Shogun will definitely come, won't she? This subordinate fears disturbing Her."

If it were just Vision wielders, the Mage could maneuver around them.

But the Raiden Shogun was someone it absolutely could not afford to provoke.

"Rest assured, She has already been here. Inazuma will likely not be peaceful for the next few days."

Although the God of Inazuma was merely a puppet, she was programmed, and naturally detected the anomaly here.

The moment the Tsaritsa released her power, the Shogun appeared nearby.

Appearing alongside her was her familiar.

The black-robed figure didn't know why they hadn't intervened, but after learning what foolish things her subordinates had done, there would likely be a purge within Inazuma City.

At the very least, she would have to do something.

"As you command."

The Abyss Mage bowed slightly, but after a moment of thought, it asked again.

"Then, will Your Highness be going to Inazuma City?"

"No, I am going to Mondstadt."

The figure stepped to the edge of the cliff, ignoring the danger, and sat down. Gazing toward the other side of the sea, they spoke in a low voice.

"That place is the destination, and also the beginning."

"I must go there."

"I leave matters in Enkanomiya entirely to the Lector. If you need help, you may seek him out. I likely won't return for a short while."

"Is Your Highness finally going to deal with the Wind God's familiar?"

Recalling the plan currently unfolding in Mondstadt, the Electro Abyss Mage asked quietly.

Only that dragon could make His Highness attach such importance to the matter and handle it personally.

"Yes, and no."

A portal representing the power of the Abyss appeared behind the figure. The black robes were lifted by the aura of the Abyss, revealing the tips of golden hair.

The figure stood up, pulled the black robe down to obscure their face once more.

The aura of the Abyss gradually swallowed the figure, leaving the Abyss Mage alone.
