The sky, like a pane of blue glazed porcelain, was so clear it reflected the entire city's silhouette. Alain stood on the balcony of the penthouse, looking down. The glass of the densely packed buildings refracted the sunlight into starbursts, transforming the steel forest of the Mita City into a crystalline palace.
"Look, the rain has stopped!"
The Mitas joyfully poked their heads out from under eaves, corners, and umbrellas, gazing at the flourishing blue sky. The gentle sunlight shone brightly on their faces, yet couldn't outshine their radiant laughter.
"By the way, what did you mean just now?" As the city returned to peace, Alain felt a sense of relief, but also remembered what he had said about finding true happiness for her. After all, making a Mita happy was his responsibility as a player. Of course, the Mita also had to bear the corresponding obligation—accompanying her player.
However, Sleepy Mita's reply left him half-understanding. The answer was on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't quite grasp it.
"I've already found it…"
"When did you find it?" How did he not know? Alain was confused.
"Already found… means I have found it." The beautiful girl leaned against the balcony railing, and the vibrant light gave her a halo-like edge. Her blue hair glistened in the light, but it couldn't compare to her brilliant smile.
"I find it hard to imagine… something happier than this moment."
Under Alain's gaze, she hugged her chest warmly. Her words, spoken with her arms wrapped around her, became even more enigmatic.
"Uh… do you still need me?" Alain wondered if he was now useless. Would Sleepy Mita suddenly kick him out the next second?
"Of course, player. I can't be happy without you. You idiot!"
Though it was a scolding, the blush on the girl's face said everything. Alain seemed to understand a little, and shrugging his shoulders, he casually accepted Sleepy Mita's whim.
"Alright, as long as you're happy." He leaned against the railing, gazing at the entire Mita City.
The city presented scene after scene of peace and warmth. The Mitas and the city still existed, while the consciousness entity had vanished, which meant they had succeeded. They had not only defeated the consciousness entity but also kept the city safe and sound. It was undoubtedly the best possible outcome.
Although the city could continue to exist… Sleepy Mita walked to his side. Their shoulders leaned against each other.
"But I've also lost my ability to control the consciousness entity. Hmm… just keeping it in its current state is the limit."
"Isn't that good enough?" Alain smiled and said, "Isn't it our goal to let these innocent Mitas keep this hard-won happiness?"
The young man looked at the blue sky, not noticing that the girl was glancing at his profile out of the corner of her eye.
"The virus is defeated, the Mitas are saved. Good, perfect."
There was one more thing Alain didn't say, as it might spoil the mood. In truth, one piece was still missing from the Ghostly Mita's character image puzzle. But he couldn't see where that piece was. Sleepy Mita herself seemed unaware… a difficult situation.
"Yes… perfect." Sleepy Mita's slightly hesitant words made him a little concerned.
Just then, on a street he could see, he seemed to spot a small figure waving an arm.
"——"
The great distance made the words sound a little blurry, as if lost in a fog. Soon after, she seemed to realize the distance and quickly ran toward the building where Alain was. Her rapid pace only ended when he could vaguely hear her voice.
"Alain! You succeeded!"
That's when he realized the Mita waving to him was his good friend, Millie.
"Yes—we succeeded!"
He shouted back. Watching Millie shyly run away, Alain also thought of something.
He turned to look at Sleepy Mita and found her gazing at him with a slightly intense look. Unsure of what it meant, he simply put it out of his mind and said, "By the way, about the three Mitas you placed in the virtual reality."
Alain explained his idea to Sleepy Mita. The girl listened carefully and thoughtfully to Alain's question, and as soon as he finished, she had the answer.
"You want to merge the three people in the dream with the three people outside the dream?"
"Not exactly merge? It should be more like an integration of memories. Hmm…" Alain came up with a description, "Let's just say, it's about giving Misha and the others an unforgettable dream, right? Just show them these things in a dream."
This was his idea after he learned the true identities of the three from Dream Misha. The three of them had helped Alain even in the dream world. Without them, who knows how much more time it would have taken to find Sleepy Mita?
He wanted the real-world trio to also see what they had accomplished in the game world.
"…"
At least half of the above was false. Alain's mind recalled the actions of the three: Misha wanted to take advantage of him, Millie was helpless, and Miluo wanted to get him in trouble—and Alain was the one who was almost got in trouble.
This "grudge," or perhaps "debt of gratitude," he intended to repay in reality. He could already imagine Misha and the others' mortification when they found out.
The corner of Alain's mouth curled into a slight smile.
"Alain, your expression is so strange…" Sleepy Mita looked at him thoughtfully and said helplessly, "But hey… you're my player, after all. If it makes you happy, of course I can help. But you have to be prepared."
"Since the consciousness entity is gone, it might fail…" She walked to Alain's side, her face lowered, and held his hand.
"Okay."
In Alain's eyes, the shy girl was very different from his previous impression. But this also proved that she hadn't lied before; Sleepy Mita had truly found her own happiness.
So… with this task complete, it was time to go home. Alain opened the Security Guard panel to check the progress bar.
"Huh?" He hadn't checked in a while, and he found the progress bar was stuck at an awkward 90%.
He was still a little short of going home… but it was fine. He had a solution.
He looked at the satisfied smile on the girl's face as she held his hand. He bent slightly to meet her gaze.
"Wait for me for a bit, okay?"
"Okay." She nodded quietly, then watched as Alain walked to the living room and picked up the two letters from the floor.
"It's time to continue what we left unfinished."
"Unfinished?" She tilted her head, taking one of the letters Alain handed to her. On it were neatly written words: "I hope you, me, and everyone can be happy together."
