Chapter 390 - Chapter 390: Battle of Legends

Chapter 390: Battle of Legends

"Undo past regrets? Don't make me laugh, Uchiha Madara! You think you're some kind of god?" Kakashi's voice was as cold as steel. "Throughout your life, weren't you also plagued by regrets? A man who couldn't save himself from his own failures has no right to make empty promises."

The words struck Madara like a dagger, igniting a flash of anger deep within the heart of the man whose age far exceeded seventy. Though usually hardened by decades of battle, Madara found himself incensed by Kakashi's audacity. His anger transformed into a chilling smile as he glared at Kakashi, as if he were already a dead man.

"So, it's that strange power you possess that gives you this courage, hm?" Madara's eyes glinted coldly. "Fine. Then let your corpse proclaim my return to the world! Let them know that I am no longer the Demon of the Shinobi World I am its god!"

In a split second, both Madara and Kakashi unleashed tremendous amounts of chakra, enough to shake the entire battlefield. Back in Konoha's command tent, the chakra detection water orb convulsed as it registered the titanic chakra signatures. Yamanaka Inoichi's face drained of color as he gasped.

"What…what is this? There's more chakra here than even the Nine Tails! Just what kind of monsters are we dealing with?"

But before Inoichi could say more, the immense chakra readings overwhelmed the sensors, causing the orb to shatter, splattering water across the command room in a sudden spray. From a distance, even Konoha's forces, miles away, could see the colossal forms clashing on the horizon. Nara Shikaku, known for his unshakable calm, was left speechless.

"This…this is like something out of a legend."

Standing nearby, Jiraiya couldn't mask his anxiety. To ordinary shinobi, the giant chakra avatars might be incomprehensible, but Jiraiya, a Sage of Mount Myoboku, understood perfectly. He knew that even his Sage Mode wouldn't hold a candle against the power those two were wielding it was a clash from another dimension.

"Shikaku, don't just stand there!" Jiraiya barked, snapping Shikaku from his daze. "Get the troops out of here. If we get caught in the crossfire, there's nothing I can do to stop it!"

The reality of the situation settled in, and Shikaku quickly weighed the pros and cons. "Fall back! Abandon all supplies get everyone to safety, now!"

Without hesitation, Konoha's forces began a hasty retreat. Though they lacked the discipline of modern soldiers, obedience was ingrained in every shinobi. As Kakashi sensed his comrades moving out of range, a sense of relief passed through him, though Madara's mocking voice quickly cut in.

"And here you are, divided in attention during a battle against me?" Madara sneered. "Don't get arrogant, little brat. I am the second Sage of Six Paths!"

Madara's full bodied Susanoo loomed, a godlike entity with two faces and four arms. Madara brought his hands together in a hand seal, and his Susanoo mirrored his actions.

"Chibaku Tensei!" he intoned.

Instantly, a massive meteor, larger than Kakashi's Han Hai Avatar, began to plummet from the sky.

Yet Kakashi's face remained impassive. The powers Ye Wen had granted him went far beyond the brute force of the Han Hai Avatar or even the ability to bring back the dead. Clad in his chakra armor, Kakashi focused his energy, his right fist glowing with intense energy. A ring of light appeared around it, seemingly simple, but Madara's instincts screamed a warning.

"What…what is that!?"

With a mighty swing, Kakashi's Han Hai Avatar punched skyward. The atmosphere itself seemed to crack as an unimaginable force ripped through the air.

"Spatial Disturbance!"

Kakashi's attack connected with the meteor, fracturing it into pieces that scattered in all directions. Madara, standing high within his Susanoo, watched with calm admiration as the meteor crumbled. His expression remained indifferent, even as winds equivalent to a level 10 hurricane whipped around him.

But for Konoha's retreating forces, the windstorm was nearly catastrophic. Choji Akimichi, battered by debris, clambered to his feet, brushing mud from his face and muttering in disbelief.

"This is insane! We're at least ten kilometers away, and we're still getting hit by the shockwaves!"

Nara Shikaku, irritated by Choji's complaints, snapped, "Less talking, more running!"

Meanwhile, the core battlefield's clash was far from over.

"There's another one!?" Kakashi exclaimed as a second massive meteor descended. This time, unable to prepare another Spatial Disturbance in time, Kakashi braced himself for impact.

But Madara was already pressing the advantage. Within his Susanoo, he summoned a massive chakra sword, a weapon sharp enough to slice mountains in half. His gaze was manic as he gripped the sword, ready to strike.

"Choose, boy!" Madara taunted, eyes blazing with determination. "Will you be crushed to death or cleaved in two?"

For the first time, Madara regarded Kakashi as an equal. But the stakes were too high for him to let a threat to the Moon's Eye Plan live. Like Kakashi, Madara was willing to sacrifice anything for his ideals.

But instead of panicking, Kakashi's foot shifted, and a large, spiraling portal opened beneath him. In the aftermath of his brother's death, Madara instantly recognized the nature of the jutsu.

"A space time jutsu?" Madara's lips twisted in rage. "Curse that damned Tobirama!"

Kakashi wasted no time. The exit of his spatial portal opened directly above and behind Madara, positioning him perfectly for an ambush.
