Chapter 309 - NZNT: Chapter 309

Tōshirō Hitsugaya's affirmative answer prompted a flurry of hushed conversations among the captains.

If Tōshirō Hitsugaya had truly mastered Bankai, Soul Society had produced another prodigy who could rival, or even surpass, Byakuya Kuchiki and Gin Ichimaru.

"As expected, Tōshirō Hitsugaya's talent is truly formidable," Yusuke mused to himself.

Yusuke, while searching Soul Society for exceptionally talented souls to bolster the Espada's ranks, had considered Tōshirō Hitsugaya.

However, unlike many other potential recruits, Hitsugaya wasn't an orphaned soul; he had close friends like Hinamori and Renji.

Furthermore, Hitsugaya possessed a remarkably mature mind, surpassing many adult Shinigami, making brainwashing and securing his absolute loyalty to the Espada exceedingly difficult.

For these reasons, Yusuke ultimately decided against recruiting him.

Turning to Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai, Yusuke said with a smile, "While Vice-Captain Hitsugaya is young, he is composed and capable, having accomplished much since joining the Gotei 13. He has now mastered Bankai. I propose appointing him acting captain of the Tenth Division."

Although only an acting appointment, if Shiba Isshin remained missing and Hitsugaya performed adequately, everyone understood this "acting" appointment would likely become permanent, making Tōshirō Hitsugaya the youngest captain in Seireitei history.

Upon hearing Yusuke's recommendation, Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai, his eyes slightly widening, furrowed his brow in thought.

Yamamoto Genryūsai had always closely observed the prodigious Tōshirō Hitsugaya, eagerly awaiting his full potential.

Tōshirō Hitsugaya had not disappointed, demonstrating exceptional skill in both spiritual pressure cultivation and his duties as a seated officer.

Were it not for his age and lack of experience, Yamamoto Genryūsai would wholeheartedly endorse Yusuke's suggestion.

Noticing Yamamoto Genryūsai's hesitation, Aizen smiled. "I also support Captain Uchiha's proposal. Vice-Captain Hitsugaya's accomplishments would serve as an excellent example for the younger Shinigami of the Gotei 13."

After careful consideration, Yamamoto Genryūsai nodded slowly and addressed Tōshirō Hitsugaya. "Tōshirō Hitsugaya, I, as Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, formally appoint you acting captain of the Tenth Division. Demonstrate your capabilities, and the Tenth Division will be yours to command!"

Tōshirō Hitsugaya was taken aback. He hadn't anticipated becoming a captain of the Gotei 13, even in an acting capacity. His age made this unprecedented.

Immediately kneeling, he bowed respectfully. "I will not disappoint the Captain-Commander or my fellow captains."

According to established procedure, Tōshirō Hitsugaya would need to demonstrate his Bankai to all Gotei 13 captains and the Central 46 high command before officially assuming his duties.

After appointing Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Yamamoto Genryūsai turned to Yusuke. "Captain Uchiha, with recent events, including a captain's disappearance, I believe the search for Kisuke Urahara in Karakura Town requires a captain whose strength and reliability are unquestionable. This individual should also search for the missing Captain Shiba."

The other captains understood Yamamoto Genryūsai's intention: he wanted Yusuke, captain of the Fifth (support) Division, to personally support the Tenth Division's efforts and temporarily relocate to the Human World.

Although Yusuke hadn't been a captain for long, his strength was undeniable. Many veteran captains had disappeared or defected for various reasons, leaving Yusuke as one of the few captains in whom the Captain-Commander had significant confidence.

While the newly appointed Tenth Division Captain, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, had mastered Bankai, his age meant his current strength was among the lowest among the captains. Given Shiba Isshin's unexplained disappearance in Karakura Town, sending Tōshirō Hitsugaya to search for him could prove perilous.

Seeing Yamamoto Genryūsai's intention to send him to the Human World, Yusuke smiled. "In that case, I will gladly undertake this task and see if I can uncover any clues."

Yusuke already planned a trip to the Human World, hoping to find clues about Yhwach, the Quincy King.

Yhwach was likely hiding within the Wandenreich, silently regaining his strength, but Yusuke had yet to discover a method to enter the Wandenreich, despite knowing its location to be within the "shadow of the Seireitei."

However, Yusuke knew that Yhwach would soon initiate the Auswählen, a global event to reclaim the power of all non-pure-blooded Quincies.

This might offer a crucial lead in locating Yhwach.

After the Captain's meeting concluded, Yusuke immediately returned to Hueco Mundo. With Vizard White in his possession, the time for his Hollowfication had finally arrived.

Having cultivated his spiritual pressure to the limits attainable by a typical Shinigami, Yusuke had few remaining options for further advancement; Hollowfication was one of the few remaining paths.

Within the grand hall of Las Noches, Yusuke dismissed all nearby guards and retrieved the spiritual coffin containing Vizard White from his Kamui space.

With the seal released, Vizard White's severely damaged body hung suspended in mid-air.

Although heavily wounded, with significant injuries to its head, arms, and chest, its potent life force initiated an astonishingly rapid healing process. Within mere minutes, it was completely restored.

As Vizard White's empty eyes flashed with a sudden light, a surge of spiritual pressure erupted from its body, and it attempted to flee Las Noches.

However, Yusuke, his attention completely focused on Vizard White, prevented its escape. In an instant, he stood before it, his right hand seizing its head and forcing it down to the ground.

"Bakudō #61, Rikujōkōrōn."

Six beams of intense spiritual energy erupted around Vizard White's waist, firmly immobilizing it.

Despite its struggles, it remained completely bound by these six beams of light.

Gazing upon Vizard White, its eyes vacant and seemingly devoid of intelligence, Yusuke spoke slowly. "Vizard White, I have been observing you for quite some time. While your creator, Aizen, fails to grasp your true potential, I understand it perfectly."

Vizard White appeared unresponsive, its empty eyes remaining fixed, its claws continuously scrabbling at the golden seals around its waist, attempting to break free from the Rikujōkōrōn's hold.
