Grace closed her eyes as her fists were clenched, bitterness spreading through her as her daughter's cold words pierced her heart deeply.
After a moment of calming down, she opened her eyes, her eyes softening as she looked at Gloria and finally opened her mouth to say, "I understand you. You are very disappointed in me and I understand that. Don't worry, Mom will not hurt you again. I will prove to you that I am your mother, I haven't given up on you and I am sorry."
Gloria merely nodded, though her heart ached as well.
As a result, despite the tension being thick and awkward, sometime later, Gloria got her DNA samples extracted by professionals. Once that was done, she and Xander bade Grace goodbye.
"When will I see you?" Grace cautiously asked, watching as Gloria and Xander were about to leave.
Gloria turned her head lightly to give her supposed mother one last look and answered, "when the results are out, I suppose!" before urging Xander to leave.
