Chapter 30 - Stray Dogs Need No Tombstones—Just Run Till You Rot

Moments earlier,

as the monsters' breeding ground was reduced to ashes by D-14134,

the audience had cheered, relieved.

But now—

watching the smile fade from his face on-screen—

the lively chatroom froze as if someone had hit pause.

Because in their view,

nothing had changed.

The same colossal structure.

No exit in sight.

Still a realm of death.

Three-Body Universe – Earth

"What's happening?"

Luo Ji frowned, his mind racing:

Did destroying the monsters not open a way out?

Were they not connected to this place?

Or was this truly an abyss—enter, but never leave?

His eyes scanned the screen, searching for the source of their unease.

Then—

He froze.

Something on the walls.

On-Screen

D-14134 noticed it too.

The walls were covered in twisted, claw-like symbols—familiar from other rooms.

But now,

the once-dull reddish-brown stains had turned vibrant crimson, fresh as spilled blood.

His remaining calm evaporated. Dread spiked.

He whirled around—

And saw it.

A motionless entity, three meters away.

BANG!

Instinct took over. He fired, praying aloud.

But—

The bullet passed straight through, as if the thing were made of shadow.

No effect.

The audience's hearts dropped.

Then—

A sight that turned their blood to ice.

Hundreds of entities emerged, encircling him like humanoid black holes.

Darkness swallowed D-14134—

And the chatroom along with him.

Silence.

Deafening.

No words could describe his despair.

Chatroom Reactions

"FUCK! So 'light at the end of the tunnel' was just another tunnel?!"

"God, why's it so hard for an ordinary guy to be a hero?!"

"This hurts to watch..."

"He did everything right. Just... not enough."

One-Punch Man Universe – Hero Association

Heroes closed their eyes, fists clenched.

Mumen Rider saw himself in D-14134—

Facing the Deep Sea King, powerless.

But at least he'd had cheers.

What did this man have?

Berserk Universe

A nameless swordsman trudged through the wilds,

a crude, brutal greatsword on his back—

too thick to be a blade,

too thin to be a tombstone.

He glanced at the darkened screen,

the familiar void stirring memories.

Was that the sun—or something worse?

Shaking his head, he marched on.

Stray dogs need no tombstones.

Just run till you rot.

BOOM!

A specialized grenade scattered the demons—briefly.

"FUCK! I swear it was here!"

Jinx punched the wall, snarling. "This shitty place is driving me nuts!"

Dante fired backward as he joined her. "You sure?"

"Look—footprints!" She pointed at the ground.

"And the air reeks of alcohol," Dante noted.

Then—

Dark energy erupted from him.

"The hell are you—WOAH. COOL."

Jinx gaped as Dante blew a hole through reality itself.

Even space here was twisted.

Dante dove in first.

Jinx shrugged,

pulled out a monkey-shaped bomb,

wound it up,

and left it ticking.

KABOOM!

Hextech gemfire engulfed the demons—

Yet at the crater's edge, they halted, trembling.

As if something inside terrified even them.

The audience held their breath.

Was D-14134 still alive?

But—

The room was empty.

No D-Class. No shadows.

Just a black-hole-like pit at the center.

"Guy pissed off something big," Dante muttered.

Jinx grinned—

And jumped in.

Dante: "...I hate kids."

He followed.

Marvel Universe – S.H.I.E.L.D.

Natasha's face went slack.

"Jesus. Do those two ever feel fear?"

Nick Fury sighed. "The ones who should be scared are the D-Class."

A pause.

"But that guy... scared me with his bravery."

Even the ruthless director was worried for a nobody.

The Void

Dizziness.

That was D-14134's first sensation.

The second?

Darkness.

Not just absence of light—

but a hole in reality, where "color" had been erased.

His vision twisted, shattered, then stitched itself back together.

He wasn't in the room anymore.

Blinking, he looked ahead—

The sea of monsters had parted, forming a path.

At its end stood a figure.

A human figure?
