The summons came three days after Francisca's full recovery.
Lucifer felt it before he saw it—a pressure at the edge of his awareness, sharp and insistent, like a finger tapping against his skull. The other Progenitors were calling. They wanted answers.
He found Damaris in the eastern corridor, staring out a window at the capital below.
"They're summoning us."
Damaris didn't turn.
"I know."
"The Convocation. They want to talk about resurrection."
Damaris's golden eyes reflected the crimson sky.
"They want to talk about you. About what you've done. About whether you're a threat to the natural order."
Lucifer's shadows stirred.
"And what do you think?"
Damaris finally turned.
"I think the natural order can choke on its own rules."
