The moment Daniel stepped inside the Pagoda, the world behind him went silent.
He turned around and looked back, but there was nothing to see.
The door of the Pagoda had not disappeared; it was as if it had never existed in the first place. He frowned slightly, then looked forward again. However, what he saw left him stunned.
The space he was standing in looked endless. A flat, white, lifeless ground stretched beneath his feet, and a sky that was neither above nor below swallowed everything.
There was no visible source of light, yet the space was bright, an illumination that came from nowhere.
Daniel breathed in. Or at least, he thought he did. He heard no sound from his body. Even his heartbeat seemed to have faded away.
"Interesting… but what am I supposed to do exactly?" The moment his voice left his mouth, it vanished. No echo, no response. His words dissolved like a drop of water in a void.
