A single bulb hung from the ceiling above her, swaying slightly.
Her wrists were tied tightly to the arms of a chair.
For a moment, confusion clouded her mind. 'Am I… still high?' she wondered, her thoughts sluggish and disoriented.
Before she could process further, the door creaked open.
A female officer walked in.
She stopped in front of Valerie and looked down at her.
"The tests have confirmed the presence of substances in your system," she stated calmly. "But we still need to know exactly what you've been using."
Valerie averted her gaze immediately, her lips parting slightly. "I… don't know what you're talking about," she muttered weakly.
The officer chuckled softly, though there was no warmth in the sound.
