Hearing that, understanding flashed across Kael's eyes.
He slowly nodded. "So that's your plan."
A bitter smile appeared on his face. "Fine. Then I'll keep this as an escape route."
His fingers tightened around the key. "I'll protect it."
Ivy nodded. "Good. Thank you, brother, you are the best."
Then she suddenly paused. "Oh, right. There is something else."
Reaching into her storage space, she pulled out a worn diary. She handed it over.
Kael looked at the diary in confusion. Just as he was about to ask a question, Ivy spoke first.
"In case I don't return..."
Her voice became softer. "...open this diary."
Kael's expression froze. "I've written a solution inside."
Neither of them spoke for several seconds. In the end, Kael simply nodded.
He didn't trust himself to say anything. After he left, Ivy remained standing alone in the room.
The silence felt suffocating. Her gaze drifted toward the window as countless thoughts flashed through her mind.
