Feigning gratitude, Darcy said, "Thank you, Mrs. Levin. I'll work hard to improve myself."
Yana waved a hand. "Relax. You don't have to be tense around me. Make yourself at home, all right?"
Then, she added, "You're doing well, but maybe you're a little too tense. It makes it seem like you can't fit into this family, so lighten up. You're family to us now."
Hearing so, Darcy's heart sank while her eyes widened for the briefest moment. She wondered if Yana was starting to suspect her.
"Okay, Mrs. Levin," she replied calmly, though her mind was reeling.
"Have a seat," Yana offered while gesturing to the couch.
Darcy sat down obediently, and Christine affectionately took her hand over to pat her. "Oh, look at you. You're too nervous."
"I only wanted to be perfect so that I can be worthy of your affection, but..." Darcy's voice trailed off.
Furrowing her brows, she continued, "I think I messed up."
