"Darling, where did you go?"
Gabriel asked anxiously when he saw Agnes approaching gloomily. "I was so worried when you didn't pick up your phone. I thought that Jeanette kidnapped you."
Agnes looked up at him in tears. "Honey, I've messed up everything. I'm sure that Zoey hates me even more now."
Jeanette used to get along well with Zoey before the accident. However, their relationship soured after she asked for Alan's help.
Hearing that, Gabriel went silent.
He took a deep breath and inquired, "Did you visit Zoey, Darling? What did you tell her?"
Agnes panicked, and her eyes darted around.
"I told her that she is my daughter. I urged her to persuade Alan into visiting Jeanette in the hospital." She swallowed.
Gabriel was furious when he heard what she said, but he calmed himself down and asked, "Didn't I tell you not to reveal it to her yet? Also, why did you push her to beg Alan? The situation is already complicated enough."
