"Old Mrs. Yancey, I should be the one to toast to you instead. You may drink as you please."
With that, Amanda downed her glass of wine in one gulp and turned the glass upside down to show everyone that she had emptied the wine.
Christine was rather fond of her candidness.
"Amanda, your school will start in two more days. Have you gotten all the basic needs prepared?" she asked, concerned.
"Old Mrs. Yancey, Mrs. Yancey has gotten someone to get everything ready for me," Amanda replied. "All of you have been treating me so well. I'm overwhelmed by your kindness."
She had initially thought that she would be dealing with a bunch of snobbish, rich dignitaries. To her surprise, everyone in the Yancey family was friendly toward her.
Everyone knew that she was the one who had saved Shawn's life. Hence, they were so kind and patient with her.
They had indeed left her with a good impression.
