Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Infernal Colosseum (final part)

Priscilla's ability is based on her Drawing Devil Fruit. This Devil Fruit has a unique characteristic: it's always active. In addition to possessing immense artistic talent, she needs to use the liquid component to create the most realistic drawing possible, replacing the ink.

To clarify, if she wants to create a realistic robot, instead of drawing it with ink, she must use liquid metal. However, this changes when drawing people. Instead of liquid human flesh, she needs the person's blood to create it, and it has to be their own blood; otherwise, it won't work.

With this, the drawing's power level increases from 25% to 80%, and the color shifts from black and white to intense red, due to the real blood used.

...

Shanks was in a bar watching everything that was happening at the coliseum; it turned out the place was connected to the whole spectacle, so they'd been watching the coliseum finals and now Dante's fight against the two dead legends.

Shanks's thoughts drifted to his former captain, the man who had given him his straw hat and then passed it on to Luffy, trusting in the next generation.

Only one thought crossed his mind: if with the strength he now possessed, would he be able to face his former captain?

...

Dante dodged a horizontal slash that would have severed his head. He was barely able to evade the attacks of the fake Rocks, blocking some, since he still couldn't use his right arm, the one he used to destroy the fake Whitebeard.

Roger appeared from behind with a vertical slash at Dante, but Dante blocked it with Murasama, only to receive a sword strike to the ribs from Rocks, sending him flying several meters.

Seeing his opponent on the ground, Rocks unleashed a Haki-infused energy slash at Dante, who managed to get to his feet in time and dodge it, only for Roger to be on top of him with his sword ready.

Dante was in a situation where he could only defend himself, with parts of his body aching, one arm temporarily unusable, and some bones broken.

...

Sommers and Shamrock watched the fight from afar, unsure of what to do.

Sommers: "You could attack from his blind spot and kill him once and for all."

Shamrock just gave him his usual serious, icy look, implying that it was a stupid idea.

Shamrock: "You know the master wants him alive, the safest way to use his ability and control him, and don't even think about acting on your own, because the last time you did, it didn't end well for you."

His companion's expression turned to annoyance and fury as he recalled their last mission.

Before he could say anything, a voice sounded from behind him.

???: "I see. And what is this ability of his master's, or better yet, who is this master you're talking about, knight of Mary Geoise?"

They both turned to face the man who wanted to destroy their home. Standing before them was Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the revolutionaries.

Sommers: "You," he said venomously.

Shamrock said nothing, only looked him over, analyzing him from head to toe.

Dragon: "It doesn't matter; you want to kill or capture Dante, and I won't allow it," he said, adjusting his arms and assuming a fighting stance.

The two knights of God did the same, drawing their swords, ready to kill the man before them.

...

Dante was in the most dangerous situation of his life; he dodged sword blows like an otaku dodges shower water, or a Dark Souls player dodges a woman.

The ground was barely able to withstand the blows of the men's drawings, giving their all to kill their enemy.

With a slash from Rocks, Dante turned to deflect the blow, causing most of the damage to go to the ground instead of him, only for Roger to deliver another slash, which he barely had time to dodge.

And just as he was about to leave, the fake Rocks grabbed Dante's ponytail, stopping him in his tracks, only to receive another cut from him.

If it weren't for his Armament Haki, Dante would have already died. He could only be grateful that all the overtraining he'd done had paid off, but that didn't stop him from vomiting blood and having three more ribs broken.

As he was being dragged back, Roger appeared behind him. Dante tried to dodge, but Roger managed to strike, severing one of the black wings of his hybrid transformation, leaving him with only one wing and, consequently, unable to fly.

Dante could only curse inwardly and be grateful that he could regrow the wing, but it would take time.

He was also grateful that his arm was already returning to normal; that gave him hope of surviving.

Seeing his opponents charge at him again, he could only rely on his speed, which was far greater than theirs.

Transforming into his full form, he summoned several chains that erupted from the ground, ensnaring Rocks. With all his might, he sent him flying.

At that moment, he noticed a distant storm and lightning striking the area where the two people who had been spying on him were.

Ignoring the meteors hurtling toward him, he fixed his gaze on the fake Pirate King. He had to do something about him before the other one returned.

Knowing his sword was useless, he charged at him, his fists encased in blue gauntlets, ready to fight.

The fake Roger simply smiled at this, and with both hands gripping his sword, he responded in kind.

Multiple attacks and counterattacks flew between them; Dante was using his feet as a replacement for his right arm, something he wasn't used to, giving him an advantage in drawing, only to be forced to separate himself when he saw a 15-meter-long blast of Haki-infused energy devastating everything around them.

Looking to where the attack came from, he saw Rocks running toward him with boundless energy.

All he could do was summon multiple swords for both of them to slow the attack as much as possible and hope he could regain the use of his arm.

Roger was already upon him, inflicting multiple cuts, which he blocked with the blue swords he summoned, but the moment he lunged backward, Rocks was already poised to strike.

Dante created a chain with a sickle and a sharp point, and with it, he began fighting both of them simultaneously, using the chain to deflect some blows with less than stellar results, as they easily broke it. But that didn't mean he couldn't rejoin them.

At one point, the fake Rocks nudged Dante's foot with his own, causing him to lose his balance, only to receive a sword strike to the jaw from Roger, lifting him off his feet and leaving him with his guard open.

Then Roger and Rocks stomped their feet and, with two Haki-infused sword strokes each, struck Dante in the chest, sending him flying and reverting to their human forms.

Through Dante's veil, the amount of blood gushing from the two cuts directly onto his chest was visible as he fell to the ground, his sword still in the air.

Dante, now on the ground, was writhing in spasms; He was still conscious, but barely so, his gaze fixed on the sky, unable to move, his mouth filled with blood, and in pain he could hardly bear.

...

In the deepest part of the island, multiple snake heads spewed fire, acid, and venom.

Balesca could only curse her luck, canceling everything she could. Substances like venom are more difficult to deal with, being more abstract objects, but not impossible to cancel; she only had to touch it. But the moment she got close, Ruby would ignite the venom, damaging her as had happened twice before.

Just as she was about to touch it, a head would attack, regardless of the damage it caused, since it would regenerate in seconds.

She was on the ropes. The only thing she was grateful for was that she wasn't in an enclosed space, or it would be much harder to fight.

"I see you're having some trouble, ma'am," a voice said in the distance.

Both Balesca's and Ruby's heads looked toward the source of the voice.

There stood a man dressed as a gentleman. He had green hair, shaved on the sides and long in the front in an undercut style, tied in a ponytail; all the hair in front covered his right eye, and he had dark blue eyes. He was 1.97 meters tall and around 30 years old, just like Dante.

???: "The Hydra fruit is interesting; since you're fighting, let me take your place, ma'am." He said, walking past Balesca.

At that moment, the Hydra attacked them both.

Balesca: "Wait, this isn't it." She tried to say it, only to see several crystals appear from the ground, impaling several of the Hydra's heads.

???: "Leave now; Dante isn't having a good time, to say the least."

With that, he stopped Balesca from speaking, only to glance at him briefly before running away.

Ruby: "Who the hell are you?" she said, the heads having regenerated.

???: "For you," he said, turning his body into crystal, "I am Heracles." And he attacked the hydra with a confident smile.

...

Dante's POV

A long time ago, I would have accepted death as an old friend. But that's the past. Now I have a life, a family, people I want to protect, and people I have to protect, and above all, I told myself I would never run away again.

And if it meant achieving all of the above, I would do anything, including killing anyone who stood in my way.

Kill. Kill the people who get in my way.

Kill. Kill the people who threaten my loved ones.

Kill. Kill the people who want to see me fall.

Kill. Kill my enemies.

Kill. Kill those two beings standing before me.

Kill.

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL.

Before I knew it, I was in a blue space, and in front of me was a scythe about to slice me in two.

I managed to dodge the attack and saw that my attacker was a skeleton wrapped in a cloak.

???: "Tell me, do you think you can do it?"

Dante: "I have the ability to kill living beings, but those two things aren't living beings, so even if you take control, you won't be able to defeat them."

???: "Hmm, you have a point; so, if they were living beings, would you be able to kill them?"

Dante: "Of course, now we are death, and no one escapes us, not even time."

???: "Hahaha," the skull laughed. "What an amusing response," it said, disintegrating, and all the ashes that were its body entered me, filling me with power and energy like never before. I feel new, reborn.

I returned to reality, looking at the sky; I felt those two creatures coming toward me, intent on killing me, without knowing how they could have intentions if they weren't living beings.

I managed to stand despite the pain coursing through my body; I spat a large amount of blood onto the ground, and with everything I had, I unleashed a massive burst of Conqueror's Haki. It stopped them instantly, only for them to return it with twice the intensity.

I know my Haki is good, but against the Haki of two monsters, it's not something I can buy.

The good news is that I could now use my right arm, summoning Murasama through the system. A black wing sprouted from my back; I felt myself transform, but I didn't know if it was the hybrid form, the complete form, or something else. I couldn't see my body, so for now it doesn't matter.

(Note: Only one wing because the other was cut off, not because I'm Sephiroth or anything like that, but you can think of it that way for now if you want.)

What I could see was a translucent blue armor that covered me, along with a cape, the same one the skeleton I saw in my subconscious had. I also saw that my hands were no longer human but were just infernal blue fire.

A deep blue tree appeared behind me, its leaves bearing names; these represented all the life forms in this world. A book appeared in my free hand.

Dante: "Qliphoth," I said, just to see how the tree of death identified those two drawings as living beings. "Now I can kill anything," at least as long as the tree is still standing. Something best left unsaid.

I unleashed my Conqueror's Haki again, but alongside the red lightning, blue lightning also appeared, preventing their Haki from overwhelming me as much as before.

Dante: "Let the second round begin," he said, closing the book, summoning another blue katana, and launching himself at the two of them.

...

Third-person POV.

Yamato didn't know what was happening. First, several earthquakes; then, the entire ground split open, followed by a giant tornado, from which numerous explosions and lightning bolts erupted, only to see meteorites falling; it was the end of the world.

She couldn't run very fast, as she had several wounds on her body, one that nearly severed her collarbone, and she was carrying some gold, a sword, and two Devil Fruits.

While lamenting not being able to take all the loot, she saw a man lying on the ground writhing in pain.

She recognized him as the man who had been at the entrance of the coliseum when they first arrived; Dante had given her descriptions of him and another man that "no one knows," at least that's what her master said.

At that moment, she sensed the presence of some people approaching her, without recognizing who they were.

???: "You're one of Mr. Dante's companions, aren't you? We're from the revolutionary army; we've come with our leader to find him."

Yamato: "Oh, I see. Do you know what's going on here?"

???: "I thought you would know; that's why we came as soon as we recognized you."

Everyone remained silent, unsure what to say, as the island continued to tremble; strong winds swept away much of what remained of the festival.

...

Dante was locked in an intense battle against the two greatest pirates of his time. Now, with both hands, he could better defend himself against the cuts from both continents.

Dante had just severed two of Rock's lifelines and three of Roger's, giving them five each, but in return, he also received several cuts himself.

Multiple chains appeared in the air, which were destroyed with great ease, but that was just a distraction. Dante threw a kick, which Rocks blocked, sending him flying back a few meters.

Rocks looked up to see Dante with the Tonbogiri in his hand, throwing it at full speed. Seeing the spear just inches from his face, he quickly moved his sword to block the attack, only for Dante, using the Fusion Sword, to deliver a vertical slash to the spear, increasing its power and strength against Rocks.

Roger didn't remain still and was already in front of Dante with a swift cut. Seeing this, he had to jump back, allowing Rocks to deflect the spear and then grab it for himself.

Dante watched as they both charged at him, but before they could reach him, he used Soru to position himself in front of Roger and, using his sword, slashed at him. Roger blocked the attack, but it sent Dante reeling backward. Dante then turned his attention to Rocks, who was attacking him with the Tonbogiri, which made him smile.

Quickly, using the system, he stored the weapon in his inventory, causing Rocks' attack to miss since he was unarmed and leaving him open. Dante responded swiftly with a slash, sending his enemy flying and severing another lifeline in the process.

Dante had both of them at a safe distance, but out of nowhere, he almost fell to the ground, only to catch himself mid-air on one knee.

Dante's POV

My whole body ached, I could barely breathe, my lungs were filled with blood, my ribs were broken, my arms were shattered, my legs were fractured, my head was pounding, and I was utterly exhausted; if only it had been a one-on-one battle and not one against a hundred.

I glanced at the fake Roger and Rocks and seeing they were unharmed dampened my spirits, but just two more cuts in the right places and I'd be done for. If I sliced them in half, they'd both freeze to regenerate, and with luck, I'd sever their remaining two lifelines before they even realized it.

It was my only hope.

Summoning Murasama, I enveloped it in both Armament and Conqueror's Haki; I did the same with the Fusion Sword.

The two in front of me did the same, seeing that I was about to unleash my final attack, ready to counter.

I'd cut them in half before they could.

And with all the remaining strength I had, I charged forward.

Dante: "Zettai ryōiki saibansho: Saidai shutsuryoku," I said, ready to slash them both, only to see them both vanish into thin air and my slash fly into nothingness.

(Note: Translation moment. I wanted it to say "maximum power," but it ended up being Saidai shutsuryoku, which translates to "supreme power"; not what I wanted, but it sounds cool.)

My attack passed through everything and didn't stop; it even sliced a mountain into four pieces and kept advancing until I lost sight of it.

...

Third-person POV

*Moments before*

Priscilla could be seen watching from afar, crouching down so no one would see her. If she were to faint, the two drawings that were beating Dante would disappear, and everyone would be finished; the sacrifices of the others would be wasted.

She could see Dante about to launch his final attack, which the two drawings were responding to in kind.

She didn't see the rest, because she heard a voice behind her.

???: "I see you're quite comfortable watching the fight."

She had been so distracted by Dante's fight that she hadn't noticed her surroundings.

Just as she turned around, she was met with a kick to the jaw from a woman dressed as a priestess. She fell to the ground, losing consciousness.

Balesca: "It was true that if you land a well-placed blow to the jaw, you can knock someone unconscious," she said, watching as the drawings that had been fighting Dante vanished and the two slashes that had looked so dangerous flashed past, cutting through everything in their path.

Back with Dante, he just stared at the two pools of blood that had been his enemies moments before, unsure what to do.

The tree that had been standing a little ways away from him disappeared; Dante's transformation also ended, leaving him in his human form.

Dante stared into the void for a few more moments before collapsing unconscious, gasping for breath on the ground.

Balesca appeared, running to his side with Priscilla in her right hand; she was only relieved to see that Dante was still alive, but his condition was critical.

She glanced to the side, seeing that a battle was still raging. Fearing that all of that would reach where she was, she took Dante and slowly moved to where she sensed Yamato was with other people, hoping they would be allies and could give them first aid before it was too late.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Good people, I want to say two things about Dante's battle.

First, Dante got lucky dealing with some of the early opponents, like Garp, Big Mom, and Kaido. He used Internal Destruction against Shanks, blocking a blow, so he shouldn't have had any problems with him.

And second, regarding his battle with Roger and Rocks, Dante lost, period. If it weren't for Balesca's intervention, Dante would have died, since he wouldn't have been able to kill both of them in four hits; he could have killed one of them, but not both. He would have been left without the strength and energy to complete the attack in time, leaving him at the mercy of the remaining enemy.

With this, all of Dante's adventures in the world of One Piece come to an end; I just need to fill in a few things and then I'll leave.

I hope you had a good holiday season and a Merry Christmas for those of you living in Venezuela. I have no idea if their Christmas is on October 25th; I'm not really interested, but greetings.
