Chapter 240 - Mastering Positional Warfare

Taking advantage of the opponent's weakened state, Belial hastened the erosion of the entire Weapon Planet. The explanation was simple, as he had briefly activated the burning Second Phase and stacked it with environmental boosts to fire off several charged shots.

As for why the power was so exaggerated, even Belial had not expected it. Ever since integrating the third template, aside from steadily absorbing energy to level up, his combat tricks started to resemble some overpowered male the Lord from a bad show. Just like when he fought King Ghidorah, he always realized mid-fight that he had forgotten some broken setting because he had been fighting bare-handed before.

It suddenly dawned on Belial that what suited him best was actually positional warfare. All those years of rushing around to save situations had almost made him forget this.

That was right, positional warfare. His two templates, one Space and the other planetary, were masters of this. One overwrote an entire planet with Ecological Corrosion centered on himself, while the other massively boosted all energy-related values through Crystal Domain. Stacked together, their effect was not simple addition but something far beyond that.

The planetary side needed no explanation, since the entire Earth was its territory, with twenty thousand years of idle leveling and exclusive growth. It might even evolve into a higher-dimensional being. The Space side was even clearer, because once Crystal Domain was deployed, it could easily overpower enhanced monsters from the Heisei Era era and even MOGUERA.

Only by raiding the base and detonating weak points could one barely drag Space down to the level of Heisei Era. This showed just how strong Crystal Domain's amplification of Space was, and using both together opened a completely new path.

Looking at the on-screen examples, Space only occupied a single High Tower, with a Crystal Domain that barely covered a city, yet the boost was already enormous. So if Space's Crystal Domain reached planetary scale, how absurd would that be.

One shot to blow up Destoroyah perhaps. Bring in the Gold sea cucumber, add a plate of Demon King King Ghidorah and armored Mothra as side dishes.

Of course, that was just fantasy. Space's Crystal Domain fundamentally absorbed energy from the universe through Crystal, and Space itself had an upper limit. More importantly, this desolate place had no Cosmic Energy to absorb at all.

So that left the option that ignored physics and followed mysticism, Diablo. It did not directly affect ecosystem growth, but it greatly enhanced energy output, control, reaction, conduction, and endurance limits, acting as the core linking the two templates and, most importantly, solving the energy source problem.

There was no Cosmic Energy here, but there was an endless supply of resentment. The dark Clone sent out earlier had merged into the ecosystem as black mist, spreading through the planet and even the outer Void, absorbing vast resentment and converting it into energy.

All of it converged onto Belial, who now stacked four template values and far exceeded the endurance of the original Space. "So," he said, "go die."

Entering unlimited firepower, Belial's body lit up again with molten patterns. He opened his mouth and unleashed even fiercer Fusion Reaction Beam in a truly unrestrained barrage. The attacks crossed half the planet, pierced the crust, and blasted through to the other side, each beam creating suns and massive tunnels.

On the far side, The God of Scars screamed while fleeing for his life. Had this thing never been on cooldown. High damage, penetration, huge area, true damage, and infinite chaining, what kind of broken monster was this.

With The God of Scars's will faltering, the Crystal ecosystem expanded rapidly again, even more violently than before, devouring the entire planet from Belial as the origin. As a result, the power of Fusion Reaction Beam kept growing, and even The God of Scars, whose body was barely half restored, realized what was happening.

This could not be delayed any longer.

It was a monster with raw stats, with mechanics that were also just stats, and even the environment itself was nothing but stacked numbers. It held absolute terrain advantage, did not fear any form of clearing, had extreme attack and full resistance, and its strike range could reach right to your doorstep. How were you even supposed to fight something like this?

The God of Scars thought of many methods in a short time, but those plans buried underground were not even dug out before a single Fusion Reaction Beam casually blasted them into Shard. The constantly radiating white light destroyed a full third of the asteroid belt above the planet, while massive Canyon Rift far deeper than the Mariana Trench opened across the planetary surface. The entire planet was lit into a sheet of Daylight, with one side acting as the source and the other as the receiver.

"Roar!!!"

The various ecological Clone that had just been shattered into Shard earlier now grew back out of the ground, and without any restraint, they began their revenge. Planetary Clone chased from behind while firing long-range sniper shots with the Charged Particle Cannon. Space Clone bombarded from the sky nonstop, forcing The God of Scars into a frantic retreat, not because these Clone were unbeatable, but because stopping even briefly meant getting hit by another Fusion Reaction Beam.

Its body was being blown apart into Shard again and again under the repeated beams, and its regeneration was slowing with each hit. The God of Scars knew that a decision had to be made. Today, there was a very real chance it would die.

But so what? It was only the possibility of death, a situation it had faced countless times before. Since dragging this out meant certain exhaustion and death, then it might as well gamble everything and fight to the end, to see who would truly come out on top.

Do not forget that beneath its feet was this Weapon Planet, a manifestation of its own power and domain. The one with the terrain advantage was me.

"Rooaaar!!!"

A howl laced with agony blasted away several incoming beams, spreading rapidly and covering nearly half the planet. Even the two pursuing Clone were marked with all kinds of scar-like Crack. This power was even stronger than before, but the price was that the weapons on The God of Scars's back shattered into Shard and were permanently torn away, while the countless scars and powers it had once devoured began to surface on its own body.

Wave after wave of shrill roars shook the ground, tearing apart even the onrushing Crystal ecosystem. With a swing of its claws, it cut and split the planet's crust, then plunged its massive body straight inside. It began tunneling forward, intending to reach Belial's ecological core in the best possible condition and kill him directly.

If this continued, it would be worn down to death, so the only choice was a desperate, head-on showdown with the main body. As The God of Scars advanced, the planet trembled again, not from suppression by power, but because the scars surfacing across it were causing it to fall apart. In the past, it had only used part of its scars and power, but now it was unsealing every scar it had ever carried.

Countless wounds of flesh, bone-deep agony, and soul-rending pain were all extracted, and each one was borne by The God of Scars itself first. Every second of pain flowing through its body was enough to kill an ordinary person hundreds of times over, yet its eyes grew crazed and stained red as it continued digging forward. Blood covered its body as more and more scars emerged.

Some scars were distinctly different, branded with scorching and decaying flames. Others grew vivid green leaves directly from the flesh, even corroding the soul itself. There were also distortions brought by dragon lightning that twisted Fate, along with many scars that defied description, as memories from the past surfaced one by one.

When had it all begun? How many years ago had it devoured its first soul? The old worlds and civilizations were long forgotten, even as it dug through ruins that once belonged to them. What it could still recall clearly was the moment that butterfly flew out of the mirror, dividing light and darkness, and the brief alliance with others of its kind when they tore that place apart.

One scar became hundreds, then thousands, spreading across its entire body until even its original form was in ruins. Pieces of it scattered as Shard along the way.

"Trying to come blow me up?" "Doesn't matter."

Expanding its ecological domain, Belial's Diablo nature silently seeped across nearly the entire planet, making the disturbance in the crust impossible to miss. The intent was obvious, a desperate charge, something he had seen more than once before. Still, he could not just do nothing.

After a moment of thought, he lightly adjusted the ecological System. The distant expanding ecological Clone paused, then rapidly disintegrated, while several new ecological Clone appeared around Belial's main body. Faint black mist drifted back and merged into him, linking everything together as immense power gathered into a single individual, and he let out a sly chuckle.

Almost there.
