[Hypnosis]

"Well, Oji-san. This odd fella wants to ask you a few questions. So answer when asked, okay?" I said as Old Valper's eyes focused on me.

That's right, Valper Galilei, the disgraced former head of the Holy Sword Project, stood perfectly still before me.

But before I asked him about his experiments, I had something important to do.

"Hmm." I rubbed my chin as I smiled.

"Raise your right hand."

Valper raised his right hand.

"Left hand."

He then raised his left hand.

"Stand on one leg."

Yup, he did it.

"Now make a chicken noise."

"Cluck."

"..."

"Cluck, cluck."

Pfft. Holy shit. I hope Gabriel doesn't see this.

"Alright, now do the Ginyu Force pose!"

Valper bent his knees, twisted his torso, and extended his arms in a dramatic fashion.

Magnificent. Absolutely fricken' magnificent.

[A rather peculiar method of interrogation, Host.]

Asterion's voice echoed inside my head.

'Psychological warfare, Asty.'

[Against whom? The elderly man or his own dignity?]

'Both.' I thought. 'He doesn't get to have dignity after what he did to those kids.'

I walked around Valper, inspecting his posture.

"Excellent. Now give me your cutest idol pose."

Valper immediately straightened up, tilted his head, and raised both hands beside his cheeks.

Two peace signs.

A bright, utterly unnatural smile.

"Peace, peace~!"

"Fuck. I shouldn't have done that. Now my eyes are burning."

I regretted it immediately.

"Alright, Valper. Stop posing and tell me everything about your current plans."

"We are cooperating with Kokabiel to bring about a conflict between the Three Factions."

There it was, but I already knew all of that.

"Continue."

"Kokabiel desires another Great War. He believes the current peace is a disgrace. The Excalibur fragments are useful instruments for provoking the Devils and the Church into conflict."

"How?"

"The fragments were taken from Church custody. Their presence in Kuoh will draw the Church's agents here. If the Devils become involved, Kokabiel can exploit the resulting confrontation."

I nodded. So far, so canon.

"Kokabiel has received some interesting equipment from several beings outside of this world. With many interesting effects."

Oh, I don't remember that.

"Like what?"

"I don't know. But if Kokabiel uses it, even the forces beyond the Dimensional Gap will have to watch their step!"

Now that's something else... But even Valper doesn't know... Then I have to get this info from Kokabiel.

Look, I'm not the Judge Holden of transmigrators and reincarnators who claims that any reincarnator or transmigrator who exists without my knowledge does so without my consent...

But if they're doing annoying things like working with Church Pervert and Cock and Balls, then there might be a problem.

"Now, let's discuss something interesting."

The old man's vacant eyes followed me.

"The Light Container. Where is it?"

"In my possession."

"Show me."

Valper reached into his priestly robes and produced a small container that had this strange, beautiful crystal.

-whistle-

It was this mass of crystallized, concentrated, pure Holy Energy that made me raise an eyebrow and let out a whistle.

[An unusual concentration of spiritual energy.] Asterion observed.

-tap, tap, tap-

As I was grilling the old man, five familiar supernatural signatures approached from behind.

Ah, speak of the Devil. Literally.

Well, mostly. Hati and Skoll were running in front of my devilish nakama.

"Modotte mairimashita, bossu!" Hati and Skoll saluted while standing at attention.

"No need for that, now." I couldn't help but smile.

"Daichi-kun~" Akeno said in her usual sultry tone.

"How ya'll doing?"

"Fine. We offscreened all those Strays." Shirone said.

"We're doing quite well on our end." Yuuto said with a smile that fell when she saw the two next to me. "And these people..."

"Freed and Valper Galilei in the flesh." I said. "I'm sure you know this guy, don'tcha, Yuuto?"

"You wanna talk to him?" I offered Yuuto, to which he nodded.

-snap!-

With a snap of my fingers, [Hypnosis] was undone, and Valper staggered slightly.

"W-What...?"

Then his gaze settled on the three newcomers, and finally, on Yuuto.

"Hmm?"

"Do you remember me?" Yuuto said, his eyes narrowing in fury.

"Have we met?" Valper adjusted his glasses.

"My name was Isaiah."

"..."

"Isaiah..."

Valper repeated the name as his eyebrows rose.

"Oh!" A smile spread across his face.

"I don't!"

"You don't?" Yuuto snarled. "You ruined my life, and the lives of many other innocent children!"

"That narrows it done very little, kekeke!" Vasper chuckled. "But if you're introducing yourself as if I should know, then would you be one of the children, devil boy?"

"That's right." Yuuto's expression hardened. "I survived your Holy Sword Project."

"How remarkable. I was under the impression that the failures had all been disposed of." Valper chuckled as he spoke offhandedly.

"Failures?" Yuuto stepped closer.

"Naturally. Your group lacked the necessary aptitude to wield Excalibur. Or rather, you lacked sufficient quantities of the appropriate Holy Element."

"Although, in retrospect, you were all quite useful."

"...Useful?"

"Indeed. Your test batch helped me identify the fundamental requirements for creating artificial Holy Sword wielders." Valper's voice became even more animated.

"It was a tremendous success! The Church simply lacked the courage to acknowledge it! Not just that, but I heard that the Church has its own Artificial Holy Sword users?" Valper sneered. "So they kicked me out, just to use my research anyway?"

I watched Yuuto's face morph into many different emotions before settling on acceptance.

"I had planned a speech to give you when we finally met... But seeing you now, there's not even any point in trying to argue with you."

-slash!-

It was over in one moment.

The old priest who had treated countless lives as numbers in a research report would never conduct another experiment.

"Yuuto." I said as he turned toward me.

I tossed the [Light Container] over to Yuuto.

"The crystallization of all your friends. I'll kick your ass if you lose it." I said as I harshly patted Yuuto's shoulder. "Let's get going."

Sometimes in situations like these, rather than a long speech about feelings and being there for someone, it's better to say something like this.

"Senpai, what should we do with him?" Shirone nudged the unconscious Freed with her feet.

Ah, the other idiot.

Somehow, he looked even more irritating while unconscious.

"Leave him."

"Are you sure?" Akeno raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. I've already taken Excalibur Rapidly from him, and I placed a tracker in his DNA." I said. "If he causes a fuss later, I'll know where he is."

"...Can I kick him?" Shirone asked.

"Sure, go ahead."

-thwack!-

-thwack! thwack!-

-thwack! thwack! thwack!-

"Alright, time to go." I said, pulling Shirone away with me. "Anyway, we need to move."

As a Teleportation Circle lit up behind us, I thought about the trouble that was brewing.

I'd already arranged a few things.

Asia and Valerie were with Rias, Gaspar, Sona, and her peerage at Kuoh High. And Akeno, Yuuto, Shirone, Hati, and Skoll were heading there too.

As for Ophis, she was back at the Michinaga Manor being entertained by Sadako and Sebas, who were probably emptying the pantry feeding her.

Honestly, if Kokabiel tried anything while Ophis was around, I might actually feel sorry for him.

-ding!-

"More Exorcists?" I raised an eyebrow.

I had just gotten a message from one of the members of EXCEED... with a crow on his shoulder?

That's funny. I don't remember equipping my peasant and farmer army with Daigo's progeny. Besides, I have no intention of officially debuting them until I reach Kyoto.

But no complaints from me.

Apparently, they're coming from the West side of Kuoh Town, where the Orphanage was.

"I'll be heading off." I said as I stepped out of the Teleportation Circle. "You guys head over to Rias, if I'm right, then Kokabiel and whoever is in charge of this nonsense should be there."

"No problem, we'll be fine." Yuuto said. "It's not like something else can happen right here---"

-roar!-

Suddenly portals opened up, and three large three-headed dogs walked through them.

"Cerberus?"

"Ah, look at this..."

"Heh, what da' heck?"

Hati and Skoll were slightly confused, but had no reaction other than that.

"You can go ahead, Boss! This is light work!"

"With help from these two, I'm sure we can deal with them, Daichi-kun." Kiba nodded. "So don't worry about us and go."

"We got this Senpai, we haven't been training for nothing." Shirone clenched his fists.

"Don't worry, Daichi. This is our fight." Akeno said.

I haven't even said anything, though...

Well, whatever.

-chuu!-

Akeno gave a cheek a soft, chaste kiss.

"A lucky token before you go~"

"Why thank you, fair lady." I did a curtsy before setting out to leave.

But before I left, I didn't forget to implant a little 'something' in Freed's DNA.

It's not for right now, of course, other than a little something to make him sleep even longer.

After that, I left a signal for Daigo and his murder of supernaturally enhanced crows to dump his body somewhere.

'Yorokobe, shounen. You won't die yet.'

Just some insurance in case something happens later.

-whoosh!-

Wings of vortex energy exploded from my back, and I shot towards said location faster than the speed of sound.

-A Few Minutes Later-

I landed some distance from the Orphanage as I started surveying my surroundings, and through the shrubbery shrubs and thickening thickets, I think I found who I was looking for.

Or rather, whom.

There was this middle-aged man with black hair, dressed in church vestments. But I could sense the power rolling off of him enough to make a guesstimation to who he was.

---Ewald Cristaldi, Cardinal Deacon, and mentor to Irina and Xenovia.

A 'bishounen'-looking fella with silver-white hair and red eyes. He wore a gakuren, and on top of it, a priest's coat, similar to Freed Sellzen.

---Siegfried, the Chaos Edge, and an Artificial Human descendant of Sigurd.

Looking at his face, I gave a half smile suddenly got the urge to steal all of his Demonic Swords.

"Once again, it is the same mistake that young Dulio has made." Ewald said. "I heard he even donates to the orphanage nearby in this Devil territory..."

What the heck is this guy talking about? And why did he say 'Devil' like a slur?

Dulio?

If it's the same Dulio, then this might be an interesting yet tough battle ahead.

And then I heard something that wiped that half-smile completely off.

"Should I just get rid of them all? It would be best for those children if I were to put them out of their misery, and end their lives, rather than letting them grow up in such an orphanage in Devil territory."

"After all, this potential 'Alliance' between our factions, even I can't be at peace with it."

I thought about the orphanage for a moment.

The suspiciously gorilla-looking Father Kondo with a heavy hand and a soft heart.

Sister Kyoko, who seemed to be the voice of reason.

And the bunch of kids who either haven't been adopted yet

Even Riku, who has a Yuki-Onna for a girlfriend.

The heck did the kids do to you, man?

'Am I angry?' I started to wonder.

"You're really cold, old man." Siegfried said. "But if you are going to do so, then hurry up. I'm only here to fight some stronger people."

"In fact, it would be even better if Xenovia and Irina fell in battle, so I could have a shot at battling Kokabiel."

"I suggest you watch your words, boy."

"Wow, you're scary, old timer." Siegfried chuckled. "But should you even be saying the things you said before, Mr. Cardinal Deacon?"

"I agree." I said as I revealed myself. "Hey, geezer. I heard some bullshit earlier, and I'm not quite happy about it."

"If you want peace that much, how about I help you find it in the afterlife?"

"So you were the one following us." Ewald frowned.

"Hoh? You seem quite strong?" Siegfried said. "The data says you're that Michinaga guy, all buddied up with Devils. Fallen, and Gabriel-sama too."

"You know, I'm one of those people whose of the opinion that there's no need to force people to be villains when they're already so many throwaway bad guys that are strong in DXD..." I took a deep breath.

"Plenty in this world already, you know what I'm saying?"

"---And if I recall correctly, while this orphanage wasn't the absolute best in upkeep, it was far from the worst, especially with my help."

And for the first time since I came to this world...

"I'm sure that you'll have your character development a couple of volumes from now," I let out a little sigh. "So I'm going to give you a chance to take it back, and get the hell out of Kuoh."

I really felt super pissed off.

"Before I take all of Siegfried's Demon Swords, and shove them up your ass."

Yes. I was kinda angry.
