After successfully capturing Tentacool, Aven returned to his castle.
In order to properly house Tentacool, he deliberately dug out a pool in the backyard and carefully placed the Tentacool into it.
Before successfully subduing Tentacool, he hadn't dared to release it directly into the river, lest it cause some unnecessary trouble.
Splash!
The moment Tentacool returned to the water, it immediately felt a lot more at ease.
Its body floated up to the surface, but when it lifted its head, it suddenly noticed a crowd of Pokémon surrounding the pool, staring at it. At once, its sense of security wavered again.
"Alright, everyone, scatter," Aven waved his hand.
At this moment, he was holding a vial of highly toxic potion. Once the surrounding Pokémon had stepped back, he poured the contents into the pool.
In an instant, the originally clear-blue pool water turned a deep purple. One after another, bubbles began to rise from the water's surface.
Watching Aven's movements, Tentacool was briefly stunned. Then, it quickly sensed the toxic energy that filled the water.
After a moment's hesitation, it began inhaling and exhaling the water in rapid succession, swallowing mouthfuls of the pool water into its body.
The more it absorbed, the brighter Tentacool's eyes became. It continued gulping the pool water eagerly, making the surface ripple and splash with loud swishing noises.
The poisonous water, once violet, gradually turned clear again as Tentacool filtered it inside its body, the toxic energy within vanishing little by little.
"As expected… Tentacool possesses the ability to purify toxins." Aven nodded in satisfaction at the sight, confirming what he had recalled from memory.
Currently, the Fair River was suffering from the problem of heavy toxin pollution. From now on, Aven could fully rely on Tentacool's power to eliminate the poison within the river and allow the water to regain its purity.
Splash
Soon enough, the purple water of the pool had once again turned crystal clear.
Through the poison sacs within its body, Tentacool had absorbed all the toxins from the water.
One could see that Tentacool looked extremely pleased at this moment.
For a Poison-type like Tentacool, venom itself was the finest delicacy—especially for one with the Liquid Ooze ability.
The ooze it had previously lost to Petilil's draining had now been quickly replenished after consuming such a feast of toxins.
"Alright, now we can have a proper conversation." Aven smiled as he spoke, "All you need to do is relax."
Tentacool's gaze once again fell upon Aven. It gave a slight nod, clearly aware of its current situation. It had no other options.
"Ralts, I'll be counting on you next."
Ralts had already prepared itself beforehand. Hearing Aven's words, it quickly closed its eyes.
A faint psychic energy radiated outward. A gentle blue glow enveloped Ralts as it activated its telepathy ability.
At the same time, Aven sat cross-legged on the ground, focusing his spirit as he entered a meditative state—something he had already become very familiar with.
Meanwhile, Ralts' psychic power connected with Tentacool, linking them together through telepathy.
Through mental exchange, they could directly bypass the barrier of language, engaging in smooth, unimpeded spiritual communication to learn what they wanted to know.
Very soon, streams of information flowed into Aven's mind through the psychic link. Countless fragments of Tentacool's memories surfaced, most of them filled with the endless imagery of seawater.
Tentacool's swimming ability itself wasn't particularly strong. However, it could drift endlessly with the ocean currents, wandering into every part of the sea.
During its drifting, countless sights had imprinted themselves in Tentacool's mind. Its tenacious vitality allowed it to see many breathtaking sceneries.
Whoooosh—
While Aven was immersed in Tentacool's memories…
All of a sudden, he felt the entire sky darken. Heavy black storm clouds pressed down over the horizon, as if the heavens themselves were about to collapse.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Blinding lightning split the clouds, thunder roared, and torrents of rain poured down violently onto the sea's surface.
At that moment, through the telepathic link, Aven distinctly felt Tentacool's emotions—an overwhelming sense of fear flooding into him.
Its body tossed helplessly in the raging sea, surrounded by countless other Tentacools, all of them battered by towering waves, dragged forward with no control over their bodies.
In the midst of this chaotic drifting, Tentacool lifted its gaze skyward. Through the flashes of lightning, it saw it—
A silhouette radiating with brilliant silver light.
From within the thunderclouds, that silver figure suddenly dove, streaking downward like a spear of light, crashing into the ocean and raising a colossal tsunami in its wake!
BOOM!
The next instant, the entire vision shattered into fragments, swallowed by endless darkness.
"Haaa… haa…"
Back in reality, Aven's eyes snapped open. He gasped for breath, his chest rising and falling sharply.
His mind was still stuck on that last image—the silver figure diving from the clouds. His eyes carried a trace of fear.
The scene had been far too vivid. Through the telepathic link, he had also felt Tentacool's terror firsthand, and it shook his own heart deeply.
"What… what was that silver figure?"
After a while, Aven slowly regained his composure, murmuring to himself.
"A legendary Pokémon—it has to be a legendary Pokémon. That kind of might could only belong to a legend."
"Besides… it seemed as though that legendary Pokémon was engaged in a battle… perhaps a clash between legendary Pokémon?"
As his fear faded, new questions surfaced in his mind one after another.
"Ralts… Ralts…"
At that moment, Ralts, too, came back to its senses, its face weary and pale.
Clearly, the extended use of telepathy, compounded by the overwhelming impact of that final image, had left Ralts' psyche strained.
It struggled to its feet, but after swaying twice, it collapsed back onto the ground. The strands of blue hair covering its face parted, revealing its crimson eyes, which locked with Aven's gaze.
Then, both of them turned toward Tentacool in the pool. Poor Tentacool had evidently been unable to withstand the impact of that last vision—its eyes were tightly shut as it had fainted outright.
"Lil, lil~!"
Seeing Aven and Ralts open their eyes again, Petilil hurriedly dropped the ooze it had been holding and ran over anxiously.
It could tell that Aven and Ralts were not in great condition, and immediately asked what had happened.
At the same time, it glared venomously at the unconscious Tentacool. If it turned out Tentacool had been the cause of this, Petilil swore it would squeeze every last drop out of it!
"Don't worry, Petilil, I'm fine. I just saw… something extraordinary." Aven spoke after a brief silence.
Even recalling the vision now, he still felt shaken. If he were to face that mysterious Pokémon with his current strength, he was certain he wouldn't even last a single exchange—it would obliterate him instantly.
But by piecing the vision together, he had likely uncovered the reason Tentacool had ended up alone in the Fair River. It must have been separated from its colony during that catastrophic event and had drifted here on its own.
As for the more specific details, those would have to wait until Tentacool woke up. For now, the poor creature needed rest.
Thinking this, he retrieved a bottle of healing potion and poured it into the pool, letting the medicine dissolve into the water to help Tentacool recover.
"Lil, lil~"
At this, Petilil and the others grew curious, quickly crowding around.
Seeing their eagerness, Aven briefly described the vision he had witnessed. When he mentioned the silver bird that radiated dazzling light—possibly a legendary Pokémon—shock instantly filled all their eyes.
"RHY!!" "MEOWR!!"
Moments later, Rhydon and Luxio were the first to react.
The two exchanged a glance, energy coursing around their bodies, and then bolted straight toward the training grounds.
They had decided then and there—that silver, radiant legendary bird would be their new target. They would one day defeat it!
"Lil, lil!"
Petilil's eyes also sparkled brightly.
It turned its gaze toward Tentacool, tightening its tiny fists.
From this point on, it resolved to further train its control over life energy.
Whether for the sake of evolving, or for converting Tentacool's ooze into poison energy, mastering life energy would be essential.
"Cheer Cheer Cheer~"
As Petilil mulled over its training, Cherrim suddenly called out.
The gloomy flowers that had cloaked its body unfurled, the purple petals shifting and gradually blossoming into a soft pink.
"Cheer Cheer Cheer~"
Cherrim had successfully transformed from its Overcast Form into its Sunshine Form, and it immediately cried out in joy.
At the same time, the overcast autumn skies parted, sunlight breaking through the clouds, streaming down upon Cherrim's smiling face.
"Lil, lil~!"
Seeing the sun come out, Petilil cheered happily as well.
On sunny days, solar energy grew more active—perfect timing to train the move Sunny Day!
"Hoo… a legendary Pokémon…"
"That's right. Since everyone has now set their sights on a legendary Pokémon, as their Trainer, I can't afford to fall behind."
"I've decided—I must find this legendary Pokémon, and I will capture it!"
Looking at his Pokémon training diligently in the courtyard, Aven clenched his fists tightly.
In the future world, even Elite Four–level Trainers could sometimes defeat weaker legendaries, while Champion-level Trainers could challenge even the gods among them.
This wasn't an unattainable fantasy. So long as he and his Pokémon continued their hard training, one day he, too, would reach the rank of an Elite, perhaps even a Champion.
