XIAO ?????? POV:
The first thing i saw when i woke up was a guy that nearly made me reincarnate a second time.
He was massive. I was sure his hand alone could probably crush my without as much effort as I'd have liked. He looked like a knight, too.
'I'm so dead...'
"Hey Al, the kid's awake!"
Luckily, I didn't seem to be on their bad side,so I took the chance to analyse the place i was in.
Looked cozy, place reminded me of all the novels I'd read back on earth. Not large, but big enough to have most of the essentials. The whole place seemed to be made of something similar to oak wood, and a few bookshelves were fully stacked to my side. A window pane let golden sunlight in from over my head, and the ceiling looked like it was imbued with some sort of latent energy...That and everything else in the room
The door creaked open slowly, and a more lean guy walked into the room. Must've been the 'Al' guy he called in when I first woke up.
"Anything the...'kid'...tried doing to you?" Al(at least I hope he was) asked.
"His Arcana energy shot up a bit when he woke up, but he seems alright."
From the armour pieces and weapons on the wall, I could tell they were knights. They could most likely also use Elemental power as well...Not like i was eager to prove that point exactly.
"Well, as long as he's fine, I don't really give a damn."
I was really starting to hate this Al dude.
"Don't be mean to the kid, Al. He just woke up"
"The kid killed a Dracanae with the same magic type it's meant to be immune to and alerted the entirety of Aesparia's knight corps. Wouldn't hurt to be a little cautious."
"It was more of a survival instinct on the kid's part. If he didn't do anything, he'd die."
"I don't even know why the hell I decided to take this kid in..."
"It'll work out. All we have to do is to keep him hidden for most of his life-"
"'Most of his life will probably be a thousand years from now,Doug. He's Shai."
"...Okay, keep him hidden for the period that we're with him?"
"I'm really hoping we don't regret this decision later on."
They both turned towards me, seeming to just realise I was there the entire time they were talking about what to do with their new 'guest'. I sat up, fixing my hair a bit before I stared back at both of them.
Doug was the first to actually try talking to me
"So...can you actually talk?" He asked me.
At first, I wasn't trying to sell myself out for speaking at five years old. Then i realised I could always use the 'Elven knowledge' card.
"Yeah..."
They both nodded, as if my words actually meant something.
"This is so fucking awkward," Al turned to the door,"Doug, you find a way to start a conversation. I'm going to find a way to fabricate a good enough report to give to the knights over at base."
After he left, Doug turned to me.
"Not much of a talker, huh?" Doug asked me.
"Not really. I just didn't want to cuss at the guy."
I got off the bed and stretched a bit.
"C'mon. Let's get something to eat. I'm starving."
He looked at me for a bit before he just sighed.
"To think I'd be ordered around by a child..."
------
Doug was much more of a talker than Al was, and he told me the crazy shit this world had going on.
"You're telling me that the reason I might be the last of my kind is because of a 'decree' that led to the genocide of anything with demon blood in them?"
We were outside. Their cabin was in a clearing completely surrounded by trees in a perfect circular patch, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting hunted down.
"That's what the majority of the public knows," he told me,"but I'm not really sure on all the details. Most of it is hidden. Politics stuff."
I just shrugged. It didn't really affect me since...well...I wasn't technically from this world. Not like it was going to affect me in any way.
I tried to use the fire power I used from before, but the best I could do was make a little plume of fire no bigger than my pinkie finger. Being in the body of a five year-old, my pinkie wasn't the biggest.
"You're doing it wrong," Doug walked up to me,"you have to resonate with the element first. What you're trying to do is forcing it out."
He held his arm out, a small orb of water forming in the palm of her hand before it started to grow rapidly, stopping when it was about the size of a watermelon...Oddly specific, I know.
I sighed as he willed the orb of water to vanish.
'Resonate with the element'?
That had to be the biggest BS I've ever heard
