Asher Land returned home after eleven o'clock at night, and headed straight to the master bedroom.
Sophie Smith heard the noise, quickly turned her back, and pretended to be asleep.
He thought she was truly asleep, feeling a bit disappointed. He had been busy at the company all day, and wanted to talk to her at night.
He lay down on the bed as if on cue, embraced her body from behind.
"I'm so tired today, but I still want to talk to you."
Sophie slowly opened her eyes, just about to turn around, but then heard his voice continue.
"The company ran into trouble today, but I have no clue. It's the first time I've felt so defeated at work." His voice was soft and gentle, coming to her ear, afraid to disturb her sleep, yet he couldn't help but ramble.
"Why am I such a failure?"
"I hate being betrayed."
"…"
Sophie's body suddenly jolted. He said, I hate being betrayed.
If he knew the person who betrayed him was her…
She squeezed her eyes shut, her body trembling slightly.
