When Sophie Smith was half asleep, a call came from Asher Land.
She reached out from under the covers, fumbled around the bedside, and finally grabbed her phone.
"Hello,..." Her voice was lazy, tinged with obvious drowsiness, "Asher Land, what's up?"
Even though there was no caller ID showing, and he hadn't spoken yet, Sophie knew it had to be him.
If you asked her why, she could only say it was just her sense and intuition about him.
"Were you sleeping?" he softly countered.
"Isn't that obvious..." Sophie muttered quietly, "It's already very late."
"Well, what if I say I want to see you right now?"
Sophie opened her eyes, reached out, and turned on the light switch.
Asher felt a bit disheartened when there was no response from the other end for a long time, and his faint sigh still reached Sophie's ears.
"Go back to sleep, I won't bother you," Asher said as he prepared to hang up the call.
