I've not seen Jose for a long time, ever since Mom was sent back to City T, ever since he and Mom published an apology in the newspaper, I've never seen Jose again.
I never expected Jose would send me an invitation. I thought, after everything that had happened, Jose and I should just ignore each other until old age.
Jose Floyd nodded slightly, his face relaxed, as if he had forgotten all about the unpleasant past.
He gave Langdon Seal a hug and whispered, "Forget Ariel Morris, find someone new to love. If the affection is deep but the fate is shallow, don't continue."
Langdon Seal smiled bitterly, "If Nicole doesn't come back, can you forget? Jose, I'll wait a bit longer."

Regina ran in, followed by Aunt Myres.
"Daddy—Daddy—" Regina Floyd trotted over, spreading her arms towards Jose Floyd, her bright eyes twinkling, "Daddy, who is this?" Regina Floyd looked at Langdon Seal and asked Jose.
