Scarlett Yates was momentarily stunned, a bit caught off guard.
Could it be that the old man specifically called her over just to water the plants?
Although she didn't quite understand, she took the watering can and, as per Old Master Yates's request, watered each of the plants in turn.
She watered the plants on one side while Old Master Yates played with his birds on the other.
After finishing, Scarlett Yates twisted the watering can and obediently stood in front of Old Master Yates, like a student waiting for the teacher's critique: "Old Master, I've finished watering the plants."
Old Master Yates was feeding his parrot, a very clever and well-behaved bird, flapping its wings eagerly for the food in his hand and calling out, "Old Yates, live a hundred years, Old Yates, may you have the longevity of South Hill."
The other myna bird was unwilling to be outdone, hopping onto the back of Old Master Yates's hand and shouting, "Old Yates, I like you, Old Yates, I like you."
