Koa Jackson lifted a corner of the blanket with one hand and, holding her, rolled in.
Just as he was about to kiss her, the abrupt ring of a phone startled them.
Both froze momentarily.
Mia Ginger hoarsely said, "It seems like it's my phone."
Koa Jackson exhaled softly, turned to lie on his back, and said in a low voice, "Answer it."
Calls this late are mostly urgent matters.
Mia glanced at him, finding his lightly flushed face unusually charming and seductive, with a rare touch of desire. Hesitating for a moment, she still crawled to the bed's edge, picked up the down jacket from the carpet, and looked at the phone.
Caller ID: Dad.
She froze, took a deep breath, sat up with the blanket wrapped around her, and answered the call.
"Mia." On the other end, Aiden Jiang's voice sounded a bit stern as he called her name.
"Dad," Mia softly replied, "Calling this late, is something wrong?"
"Where are you?" Aiden asked directly.
