Iris Harris came down from upstairs and smelled the faint, bitter aroma of Chinese medicine in the hall.
Her already unpleasant complexion grew even worse.
Halfway there, she turned back, intending to return to her bedroom.
Brandan Hyde was sitting on the sofa, handling emails on his iPad. When he saw her silhouette, he frowned slightly, "We're about to eat. Why are you going back upstairs?"
Iris Harris didn't pause, and her figure disappeared down the hallway.
Brandan Hyde watched her back, looking somewhat gloomy.
He withdrew his gaze, placed the iPad on the coffee table, and sat there with a blank expression.
Mother Rulin came out from the dining room, saw Brandan Hyde sitting there, and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Hyde, dinner is ready. Should I call Miss Harris down?"
"No need."
He responded in a low voice, stood up from the sofa, and coldly said, "I'll go call her."
