MGSFV?! Chapter 486 – So Sweet I Can't Even Type From Squirming
"What?! There's actually such a thing?"
"..."
"Think about it carefully—aren't there a lot of characters in Honkai Impact 3rd who love using metaphors? Even Kalpas has a few iconic ones, right?"
"Mm... that's actually true."
Recalling past storylines, quite a few characters in Honkai do use quirky metaphors now and then.
"Well then—"
"Let's not get off topic for now. Aren't you curious about what Kiana and Durandal will say next?"
"Ah... yeah, you're right. Let's leave that for later."
...
And so, the focus returned to the story. After Siegfried, Theresa, and Rita walked off—
Kiana: "..." Durandal: "..."
The two sisters still stood silently in place. For a long, long time... Even the players outside the game, who had finally quieted down after all the excitement, were growing impatient.
What are these sisters hesitating for?! HURRY UP!!!
Elysia frantically clicked her mouse. And maybe it worked?
In-game, Durandal finally spoke first, hesitantly: "So... where should we go?"
"How about the fountain?" Kiana replied.
"..."
Durandal seriously contemplated how best to answer... but her brain, fogged with nervousness, couldn't dig up anything helpful from her knowledge database.
To be fair, Durandal does have knowledge on how to handle these kinds of situations. She's not Senti, who once scoured every antique lexicon and still came up with only "You've got issues" as an insult... Still, Durandal was clearly out of sorts now. After a slight pause, she only managed two words.
"...Okay."
And with that, she took the lead toward the fountain.
Panic mode: Activated.jpg
Kiana followed right behind. Though they didn't walk fast, they weren't far from the fountain to begin with—so they arrived quickly.
Kiana: "..." Durandal: "..."
The two stood side by side, awkwardly fidgeting, pretending to enjoy the scenery, taking deep breaths one after another. The atmosphere wasn't just awkward—it was very awkward.
[I'm starting to get nervous too.]
[Actually... this shy Goose and Bug dynamic is kinda... 'interesting'.]
[Even if it is a little 'interesting,' this can't go on forever. Someone has to take the first step.]
Right. These sisters need to start talking at some point. But... how would they begin?
"Probably with what to call each other? Will they both say 'Kiana'?"
...
Kiana & Durandal: "Kiana."
Just as that speculation was voiced, in-game, the two sisters really did say "Kiana" to each other at the same time.
"...Haha."
[Why am I smiling uncontrollably just from that?!]
[Bug and Goose laughing is one thing—why am I grinning like a dope too? Damn it! Stop melting me!]
[Everyone, please consume your sugar responsibly. Stop wriggling in your bed like worms (lol)]
[You—how did you install a camera in my house? Please remove it, thank you (doghead). I'm already twisted up like a pretzel (serious).]
"..." "..."
The livestream chat was popping off, lines of text flying by. But on Elysia's side, there was dead silence. Hokuto couldn't help but ask:
"Elysia?" "Ah?" "What's up with you?" "I... I'm fine," Elysia replied, pretending to be calm.
Was she supposed to admit she got so excited just now she nearly fell out of her chair? Forget it. That kind of "undignified" moment was better left unspoken.
"Let's keep going. I feel like things are about to get even sweeter."
She gave a light click to continue the scene. After that smile they shared earlier—Durandal and Kiana finally found a comfortable rhythm in interacting.
Durandal, now showing a touch of elder sister poise, said: "Today kind of came all of a sudden, didn't it?"
"Yeah."
Kiana replied with a gentle smile: "Not long ago, we were still at the church in Kolosten, trying to get used to each other. That was when you first told me about the bubble universe, and what 'duty' meant to you. Not long after, I found out you, like me, had no memories from before age eight, and..."
"'In an accident, you sustained severe head trauma and forgot everything from before then.'" Durandal finished her sentence.
[To be honest, I don't think I have any memories from before age eight either.]
[...That's actually true. Can't argue with that.]
[If I have no memories before eight, and Bug and Goose don't either... does that mean I'm the strongest Valkyrie too?!]
[To the psych ward! You can be the director!]
Hokuto's evaluation of the chat: Too much exposure to Elysia's streams. They'd been assimilated.
Elysia: ? She could swear someone was slandering her behind her back.
...
"See? Even the 'reason we were told' is identical."
Durandal ended her thought.
"Yeah." Kiana nodded. "So I'm not surprised."
When one person accumulates too many coincidences, it's no longer coincidence. The strongest Valkyrie in Schicksal standing before her—was the true Kiana Kaslana.
Durandal: "..."
"Kiana, are you being considerate of my feelings?"
She picked up on a hint of emotion.
"You know my answer—'Kiana,' Siegfried's two daughters, are two completely different people with entirely different lives..."
They've each lived out their own paths. Durandal has her own goals, her own thoughts, her own principles... she wants to be her own person.
What now? Suddenly become a model daughter? Or, become another silly Bug inheriting the Kaslana name? Obviously neither has anything to do with Durandal anymore. She has her views, her moral compass, her convictions. None of that would change just because of this.
People often joke that Durandal has a Mary Sue script—but that doesn't mean she's been through little. Quite the opposite—her experiences are deeper and more turbulent than most. So don't assume she's holding back feelings just because she seems composed.
"I get what you mean, it's just..."
Kiana hesitated a moment before continuing slowly: "The real 'Kiana Kaslana'... is someone special to me. That name was once used by the Herrscher of the Void to manipulate me, but in the memories of the Herrscher Core, I saw the full truth."
[See Chapter 25 "Set Tomorrow Ablaze" if you've forgotten. Feel free to revisit it~ (innocent)(innocent)]
[Don't think your cutesy tone will hide your evil intentions. You just want us to get gut-punched all over again!]
[...Tch. Got caught.]
[So we're dropping the act, huh???]
"She was the first person to show me kindness. I inherited her name from my dad to preserve that kindness and share it with more people."
Like the Herrscher of Humanity. Like the Herrscher of Reason... Kiana Kaslana had come to mean something far more beautiful.
"She is my inspiration. She is the beginning of my life."
As she spoke, Kiana made a brand-new motion. She put one hand behind her back, lowered her head slightly, letting her bangs drape along her cheeks. A bashful pose.
[Kiana has a new animation?!]
[Didn't Flamescion always have that pose?]
[She did—but her hair didn't fall like that before, and the gesture wasn't this shy.]
[I think the developer specifically added this to visually differentiate the two sisters in this scene (lol)]
Gotta admit—no matter what Hokuto adds to the game, someone in chat always catches it instantly. Some were even focused on a different detail.
"Is the mocap for this new Kiana pose done by Kiana herself?" "Who else would it be?" "I mean... I thought maybe, like that one time, you randomly dragged someone in?"
One time, Kosma was caught holding a plastic weapon and dramatically saying to Kalpas: "This time, I've loaded my life into the chamber..." That scene had left quite the impression.
"That time, I just thought it'd be funny—cough, cough. Had to meet the deadline, you know?" "You understand."
Elysia: "..."
Did she just hear something very questionable? Eh, probably just her imagination. The plot's way too sweet right now to get distracted.
...
Back to the story. After hearing Kiana's heartfelt words, Durandal looked away, slightly embarrassed.
"..."
Kiana, who'd just looked shy, now lifted her head again. She faced Durandal seriously and said: "I'm really happy that I had the chance to say this to you in person. Thank you, 'Kiana.'"
"...Thank you."
"And, just like the two Seele personalities... we can totally share one name."
[Flamescion Twins (lol)]
[So everyone knows about the other Seele now, huh?]
[Seele is the only one aboard Hyperion who still thinks her disguise is foolproof (brilliant)]
[Just like Bronya said—if it's Seele's secret, no one else will break it unless she wants to tell.]
"Haha. But wouldn't that confuse everyone? And..."
Their conversation flowed more easily, making it easier to say what had always been in their hearts.
"For someone like me who's lost her memories... Bianka is a very important name. It's the name I chose for myself. My very first companion. Even before I crossed the Seven Seas and anchored to a world, it had accompanied me for four years. Just like 'Kiana' did for you. In this world, aside from being someone's child... we are also ourselves."
"..."
[That line... that's what Tesla once told Siegfried, right? Not long after, Siegfried gave the name 'Kiana' to the girl.]
To Kiana, being given that name was an incredibly important turning point in life. Yes—a turning point, not the beginning. As for the beginning... she should say it herself.
"The beginning of everything... was when someone looked at a girl inside a test pod and chose to see her as his little sister..."
Kiana paused slightly. Players realized they were unconsciously holding their breath. Waiting in silence.
And then—Kiana's voice came, filled with emotion: "...My sister."
Sister!!! Bug finally called Goose "sister!"
Kiana's next words made them squirm so hard they couldn't even type.
"No matter if her name is 'Kiana Kaslana' or 'Bianka Ataegina'—I will always, always want to be her little sister. Her family."
A super direct declaration!!
(squirming)(wriggling)(crawling)(screaming)(sobbing)...!!
And in the face of her little sister's ultra-direct statement—
"Kiana, you know that I've lost those memories—about Mr. Siegfried, about you... but what matters is the future, right?"
But just as players began to recover, Kiana threw in a classic quote for emotional impact:
"When you cry for missing the sun, you'll miss the stars too."
So naturally, the chat responded as one:
[[...]]
[[...]]
[Gotta sprinkle some sad flashbacks in with the sugar. That's how you know it's really Honkai.]
[Still, after all this time, what remains now... is just emotion (serious). I'm safe from knives now (sunglasses).]
"Hahahaha."
"Then, from now on, I'll always call you this—Sister."
Her voice was a bit shy, but after saying "sister," it turned firm. A mix of unfamiliarity and determination—like someone saying it for the first time but meaning every word.
[Goose! Aren't you gonna say 'sister' back?!]
"Mm." Durandal answered softly, full of gentleness: "Little sister."
[Sweet sweet sweet sweet! It's the holidays! Family, it's the holidays!]
['Ten out of ten with a bonus five.']
[Insulin! Get me insulin!]
"Totally worth watching a hundred times."
"Sweet enough to rot your teeth—a hundred times isn't enough. I'm calling it now: one thousand times."
"...You seem pretty happy."
"What do you mean? Isn't it normal for me to be happy?" Hokuto shot back righteously.
"Well... yeah, fair enough."
