Chapter 206 - Chapter 206: Playing Against Logic

As more rubber dummies appeared, the crowd's excitement and shouting grew louder. Eventually, some people even started fighting over them.

Kaitō Kid's dummies were seen as rare collector's items. It wasn't surprising that people were willing to throw punches for one.

Inside the manor, the sound of footsteps became more chaotic. Zhang Yang could tell that everyone inside was moving toward the front gate as quickly as possible.

At that moment, Subier was seated in the monitoring room, watching the situation at the gate unfold clearly on the surveillance screens.

Just as Zhang Yang had predicted, when Subier saw the dummies popping up one after another in the crowd, he frowned in confusion.

"What's Kaitō Kid trying to do?"

"Why is he putting the dummies in the crowd? To draw attention?"

Subier was sharp. He had already ordered his men in advance—no matter what happened, as long as it wasn't inside the manor, no one was allowed to leave their position.

After receiving the invitation letter, Subier had taken the game very seriously.

He not only reviewed every past capture attempt from start to finish but also analyzed them carefully and broke them down one by one.

He identified that distraction was one of Kaitō Kid's most frequently used tactics—and it had been key to Bruce and Harrison's many failures.

A guard in the surveillance room cautiously asked in a low voice, "Mr. Subier, should we send someone out to check?"

Subier calmly stared at the monitors. After thinking for a while, he finally spoke.

"Yeah, send a few people to take a look."

"Tell the rest to stay at their planned posts and raise their alert level. Kaitō Kid is already here."

The guard immediately grabbed the walkie-talkie from the desk and ordered the guards closest to the gate to head out and check what was going on.

At that moment, people in the crowd were still scrambling to grab the dummies.

"Damn it, I got to it first!"

"Hey man, you don't want trouble. Better let go now!"

"Oh my god! This dummy left behind by Kaitō Kid is even more collectible than a signature!"

"Shit! If I can get one of these dummies, I bet I could sell it for a fortune. I need to grab one too!"

"Fuck! The dummy's too far—I can't even push through!"

Just then, the gates of the manor swung open.

Zhang Yang was a little surprised. But when he saw only four or five people come out, he immediately understood what was going on.

Subier wasn't backing down. He had sent people out just to provoke him.

"Interesting… but your surveillance is going down in three minutes."

Zhang Yang glanced at the time. It was almost time for what he had set up.

In just three minutes, the manor's network would be sabotaged, and the whole place would lose power completely.

With only four or five people sent out, there was no way they'd figure out what was going on. Packed tight in the crowd, they couldn't get anywhere near the dummies, let alone examine them up close.

Zhang Yang triggered every remaining dummy capsule at once. Plumes of white smoke burst into the air, and dozens more dummies appeared throughout the crowd.

All the rubber dummy capsules he had left were now fully deployed.

The crowd instantly descended into total chaos.

The few people Subier had sent out couldn't get anywhere close. All they could do was report back on what they saw.

Subier had seen it clearly on the monitors. At that moment, he had a strong hunch—Kaitō Kid was really about to appear.

Just as he was about to call his men back, the entire manor was swallowed by darkness.

Then a thick cloud of smoke burst up at the gate. This time, it wasn't from a rubber dummy. It was a real smoke bomb.

Not far away, Bruce and Harrison saw it too. They knew Zhang Yang was behind it, but the crowd was packed too tightly for them to get close.

Zhang Yang took advantage of the chaos and slipped into the smoke first.

Right after, the men Subier had sent out followed him inside—and even helped close the manor gate behind them.

Inside the surveillance room, Subier stared at the blacked-out screens, his face grim.

He snatched the walkie-talkie and barked anxiously, "What are you all standing around for? Didn't I tell you to prep the generator room?"

"Hurry up and get the power back on! As fast as possible!"

Furious, Subier stormed out of the surveillance room. He swept through the manor with his eyes but didn't spot any trace of white.

"Kaitō Kid, I know it's you! You're already inside!"

Zhang Yang, dressed just like the manor's security staff, emerged from the smoke unnoticed. No one paid attention to the fact that one more person had come back in.

There were dozens of guards inside, each assigned to a specific post. No one was checking headcount.

Outside the gate, Bruce watched helplessly as it slammed shut and cursed under his breath. "Shit! There's too many people—we can't push through!"

"That smoke bomb must've been planted by Kaitō Kid. He used it to sneak inside!"

Harrison had already given up on trying to force his way forward. The gate was closed for good—Subier wasn't going to let them in.

Instead of wasting time, it was better to use the confusion in the crowd to search for that hidden threat lurking among them.

Shortly after Zhang Yang entered, the lights in the manor came back on.

Subier had specially prepared for tonight. The generator room was equipped with two large diesel-powered units.

Zhang Yang kept a straight face as the lights flickered back on. He'd anticipated this in his plan.

If Subier hadn't had a backup for a power outage, Zhang Yang would've seriously questioned whether he bought his "number one" title with cash.

"Subier's preparation is top-notch. Getting this done tonight won't be easy."

Left with no other choice, Zhang Yang had to pull some tricks inside the manor itself.

The biggest problem was the security cameras everywhere. Zhang Yang's route would be different from the other guards', and Subier would definitely notice.

With a flick of his hand, Zhang Yang snapped a playing card and sliced through a camera at the corner of a wall.

The card's force was insane—it embedded three to four centimeters into solid concrete.

Then, without breaking stride, he sent out three more playing cards.

Each one hit its mark and took out another camera.

Surrounded by guards moving back and forth, Zhang Yang's moves were smooth and silent. No one noticed a thing.

Then he heard Subier's voice coming through a nearby guard's walkie-talkie.

"Feeds from cameras 13, 21, 25, and 33 are offline. Go check what's going on!"

Only then did the guards realize the cameras had been destroyed.

"Mr. Subier, the cameras were damaged. It looks like… it looks like a playing card?"

The guard's tone was hesitant.

Then someone brought over a ladder. Zhang Yang climbed up before anyone else could.

In one swift motion, he yanked out the signal cable and plugged in his custom virus injector.

In just a blink, Zhang Yang pulled the playing card out of the wall and shouted to the guards below, "It really is a playing card! It's Kaitō Kid's calling card!"

After hearing the confirmation, Subier quickly stormed out of the surveillance room.
