Zhang Yang's final magic trick exploded across the internet, and Leo fell into deep self-doubt.
A surge of negative thoughts churned inside him. He couldn't understand why, after exhausting every possibility, he still hadn't found a single trace of Kaitō Kid.
And just as they left the museum, Kaitō Kid appeared on the rooftop—arrogantly putting on a magic show.
There was no doubt about it—it was a deliberate provocation.
[Damn, I've been scrubbing through the video frame by frame, and there's not a single clue how the trick was done!]
[There are people in this world who perform real magic under the guise of "illusion." Kaitō Kid is definitely one of them!]
[Shit! He's way too cocky—doing a full-blown stage show just to taunt Director Leo!]
[Can't stand him? Then catch him!]
[This is classic rage-from-powerlessness. You can't touch him, so you throw a fit.]
Comments poured in online, and Leo was fuming as he read them.
"Fuck! Kaitō Kid, if I ever catch you, I swear I'll make you regret ever coming to Country D!"
Just as he finished venting, one of his subordinates rushed into the office, clearly panicked.
"Director Leo, we're missing a man!"
Hearing that, Holmeska jumped to his feet.
"Who?"
"Are you sure someone's missing?"
In that instant, Holmeska pieced together every inconsistency from tonight's operation.
That missing piece was the final link in the logic chain. With it in place, everything made sense.
Leo hadn't quite caught on yet. He didn't realize what one missing agent might mean.
"Holmeska, did you figure something out?"
Holmeska nodded, his expression grave.
"Yes. Director Leo, we need to go back to the museum right away. The one you're missing—he might still be inside."
Leo frowned. The two of them got in a car and drove back to the museum.
Holmeska kept thinking the entire way. And sure enough, it didn't take much effort—he found the missing agent in the restroom, tied up hand and foot.
The man's mouth was sealed with duct tape, and he let out muffled cries as soon as he saw them.
Leo was startled. He rushed over and untied him immediately.
Holmeska gave a meaningful smile. His guess had been spot-on.
"Director Leo, it was Kaitō Kid. It had to be him!"
"He was wearing our uniform. I thought he was one of us. Who would've guessed…"
"He snuck up behind me and knocked me out—then tied me up!"
Holmeska added with a serious tone, "Director Leo, at that moment, Kaitō Kid was right there among your agents."
"If I remember correctly, he was present while you were doing the ID check."
If the real agent was tied up in the bathroom, then the one in the lobby must've been Kaitō Kid himself.
Leo's expression darkened as everything clicked. He finally saw how he'd been played.
"Fuck! That sly bastard!"
As much as he hated to admit it, Leo had to respect Kaitō Kid's intelligence.
Even the smallest overlooked detail could be the crack Kaitō Kid exploited—turning the tide, escaping from certain defeat.
Leo's face was grim as he spoke in a low, serious tone.
"Holmeska, what should we do next?"
"Are we really powerless to find even the slightest trace of Kaitō Kid unless he chooses to show up?"
Leo didn't want to lose—and he definitely didn't want to wait for Kaitō Kid's next move. Tomorrow night, Country D would host a concert featuring Tyron, one of the world's biggest superstars.
Part of the reason Zhang Yang's arrival triggered such a fast response was because of that concert.
Tyron's performance had been scheduled long ago. His influence as a global A-list icon couldn't be underestimated.
If anything were to go wrong during the concert, the chaos alone could spiral out of control—regardless of the actual outcome.
"I'm afraid so, Director Leo. You've seen firsthand how good Kaitō Kid's disguise technique is."
"And based on what I've seen, he's probably also a skilled hacker. With our current detection tech, exposing his identity is almost impossible."
Even Harrison and Bruce had tried before.
But in the end, they came up empty-handed.
Island Nation once launched a full-scale national search for Kaitō Kid. They didn't even find a single strand of hair.
Leo's hope was, realistically speaking, wishful thinking. All it would do was waste effort and time.
"Then… do you think he'll show up at Tyron's concert tomorrow night?"
Leo was clearly anxious. Of course he wanted to catch Kaitō Kid. If there were no concert tomorrow, they would have had more flexibility.
But Tyron's world tour had been confirmed a week ago.
His fans spanned the globe, and many had already crossed continents just to attend. Postponing wasn't really an option.
Unless Leo—and the entire country—was prepared to face the wrath of a furious fanbase, messing with the concert schedule wasn't something they'd dare try.
Holmeska didn't have a definite answer to that question either.
"Director Leo, I can't say for sure."
"But if Kaitō Kid is planning anything, he'll definitely send a warning letter first. He won't just sneak into the venue unannounced—that's not his style."
Leo let out a heavy sigh and silently prayed that Kaitō Kid wouldn't target Tyron's show.
If he did, things would get ugly.
The BND had plenty of manpower. Even a country-wide manhunt for Kaitō Kid wouldn't shake Leo too much.
But if anything happened at Tyron's concert—or if Tyron himself were put in danger—it wouldn't just be a BND disaster. The entire country, and Leo personally, would be caught in the storm.
Tyron wasn't just a world-famous pop star. He was also a global environmental ambassador.
With all these titles and influence behind him, his every concert drew massive attention from around the world.
[Tyron's concert is happening tomorrow night in Country D. With Kaitō Kid still in the country, are we sure everything will be okay?]
[Let's hope Director Leo and BND keep the concert safe. Don't let Kaitō Kid show up!]
[What? If Kaitō Kid shows up at Tyron's concert, Tyron should feel honored! That's something to brag about!]
[Hahaha! Kaitō Kid belongs in the history books. I'm a Tyron fan too, but honestly, he's no match for Kaitō Kid!]
[Oh my god! Relax, everyone. Even if Kaitō Kid shows up, he's never hurt anyone before. Tyron'll be fine!]
Many of the calmer fans pointed out that Kaitō Kid was known for never harming people during his heists.
So some of the public fear was completely unnecessary.
Others, though, were more curious than concerned. They were hyped for tomorrow's show and eager to see what would happen.
The world's hottest pop star and the number one master thief—what kind of scene would that be?
They were hoping to witness a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Something worthy of history.
