Chapter 3 - SCHOOL LIFE

Although I uttered it out,

there was no response. It seemed everyone else was as confused as I was.

Then she returned — and five people followed her.

They each carried a box and handed one to every person.

Inside were a small framed box, a ring, and a card.

"The box shall be used to contact you.

The ring is the school accessory, and the card contains the credits required to buy what you want or need in the market.

The ring has a map function that will guide you to your dorms."

As we took the items out, they simply left. Then the woman glanced at us once more and departed.

I stared at the items.

I placed the ring on my index finger — it had a small button tab on the side.

Pressing it made it glow white, then…

A virtual screen appeared. It felt tangible to touch and was fully interactive.

---

[Congratulations on getting into the Beast Slayer Training Academy.]

Here are things to know:

● You may head to the dormitory and stay in your assigned room. [Obligatory]

● All facilities are government-issued and free to use — except for special ones requiring credits.

● Attending classes is mandatory. Skipping classes will result in punishment.

● A rank board will always be displayed. The top 100 ranked students may earn special rewards. [Rank battles are allowed.]

● The training academy lasts for 3 months.

● Wearing the academy ring at all times is required. Refusal leads to expulsion.

● Practical excursions may result in deaths — either go home now or keep the idea of death close in mind.

● Becoming a Slayer is a path of danger. You can leave now or continue down this path.

STAY SAFE.

---

'Hm, that's a lot to take in.

It's odd, though. Seems like this "training" just started, so we aren't late or anything.

Rank battles? Intriguing.

And I've got to wear this thing?

Feels strange wearing one restriction on my hand… and another possible one on the other.'

After reading everything, Neto removed the message. A pop-up appeared asking if he wanted to personalize the ring or get directions to his room first.

He chose the room — personalization could wait.

The virtual screen distorted into an arrow, pointing toward the door.

'Seems that's the direction, then.'

Looking around, the others seemed busy with their rings.

Aniyah had already left right after getting hers.

Leaving the room, he followed the arrow through every turn until he finally arrived at a building.

[Arrived at your destination.]

Entering the building, there was a small counter to the right of the entrance.

A woman behind it looked up at him.

> "What's your name?" she asked.

"Neto."

"Full name?"

"I don't know. This is my key card."

"Oh, okay. You may head up then," she said with a smile.

Reaching his room wasn't difficult — the stairs led him straight to Room 20.

Using the key card, he opened the door and stepped into his new space.

The room wasn't small at all. It had a bedroom, a bathroom, and a compact kitchen with a small dining area.

There was no canteen — students were expected to cook in their rooms or buy food elsewhere.

He looked around, impressed by the room's size.

Then the realization hit him — he had nothing. Beyond the clothes on his back, he owned nothing else.

"I presume that's what the credits are for," he muttered.

He sat on the bed and tapped the ring, selecting the personalization function.

[Pick preferred color.]

A wide range of colors appeared.

Since most of his things were blue, he chose blue.

It chimed.

[Say: "Hello."]

"Hello?"

[Voice and face recognition accepted. To reset, say: "Override settings" with the registered voice.]

After that, another panel appeared — the main interface.

[Name: Neto Amari

Age: 16

Status: Alive

Rank: 197

Class: 7]

"Amari? I finally know it…"

"This seems to be the primary function — to show all these stats. There must be secondary ones."

He looked around the interface until he noticed a small (!) icon at the corner.

Tapping it revealed a list of the ring's capabilities:

map navigation, access to facilities, attendance checks, duel verifications, panic signals, hazard warnings, performance tracking, and student forums.

It could also track his heartbeat and send emergency alerts when needed.

It was a lot.

---

Next, he picked up the card.

It was black — solid, metallic, with a holographic sheen.

"That… seems like a lot of money."

Oddly enough, the ring could also function as a transfer device — and even open his dorm door.

Maybe the key card was just a backup.

He transferred a small amount of credits to the ring for convenience.

He needed to buy the basics first — clothes and other essentials.

---

The academy grounds were huge. Without the map, he could have easily gotten lost.

Luckily, his speed made transportation unnecessary.

He arrived at a mall, wandered around, and eventually found the clothing section.

He bought plenty — clothes, shoes, and a few other necessities — then decided to buy a phone as well.

The total came to about 27,000 credits (the equivalent of Euros).

Even the cashier seemed surprised — a student spending that much was usually from a wealthy family.

But this boy was unknown.

The time on his new phone read 17:47, Sunday.

"Tomorrow's Monday…" It seems like classes start tomorrow."

Neto didn't know how to cook. His only option was the academy's food delivery system.

He picked what he wanted through the app, paid with credits, and waited.

The food arrived in less than an hour — freshly made, just as they advertised.

It was convenient for him.
