Chapter 140 - The Voices In My Head

Theia fell from the red leathery sofa to the floor. Gripping Luna by the arms, she stuttered, "L-luna… what is happening t-to you!"

"You're bleeding again?" She started hyperventilating as she gripped Luna's clothes.

Her eyes flew wide open, and she jolted upright, running towards the door. "I-I'll call the commander!"

"No!" Luna called out as blood flew out of her mouth.

Theia stopped right before the doors and looked back. "B-but you're hurting badly! I-I cannot possibly imagine losing you!"

"T-Theia, come here." Luna sat up, gripping her stomach tightly, and faced her. But Theia's eyes filled with tears as she stumbled to Luna and fell face down right by Luna's legs. Gripping them, she asked, "W-why are you bleeding so much? I-I'm scared."

She wept, tears falling to the wooden floor as Luna looked at her slowly.

"Right, she belongs to you. She's yours. Cheer her up. Don't let her cry." An unknown voice from everywhere around Luna sounded.

She jolted and looked tiredly around, muttering, "Who's there?"

But Theia's tears just intensified, choking on her words. "W-what's wrong? You're scaring me. Please, stop bleeding."

Luna hugged Theia gently. As she did it, Theia fully burst out crying. "Nothing. I'm sorry."

Who was that? No one is here beside us… But they had a point. I can't let her cry. She has to be happy.

"It's just… I was always… a little sick," Luna said as a sinking feeling overtook her chest.

Ugh, I hate lying.

"It's nothing to worry about. It won't take me anywhere. I'll always be with you, so please don't cry." Luna kissed Theia on her forehead.

Gripping Luna's clothes, Theia looked up with her bloodshot eyes wide open and filled with tears, saying, "C-can I trust y-you?"

"When can't you? I never lied to you," Luna said.

Theia forced her mouth into a smile and closed her eyes. She placed her face into Luna's clothes.

Luna frowned at the way she lied to Theia, but she sighed and caressed the back of her head.

"I'm sorry," she muttered as tears fell down her cheek.

After a while, Luna tried to stand up, but as she did, her legs shook as strength left her and she fell backwards. Theia, who knelt before her, saw it and jumped behind her, sheltering her from the fall.

With her face fully overtaken by a blush, Theia asked, "P-please sit down. I'll clean it up, o-okay?"

Luna nodded as her eyelids slowly closed from the lack of strength. "I-I'll just lie down. I'm tired."

Theia nodded, her ears and cheeks beat red, her heart aching at seeing Luna covered so badly in blood. Luna's breath was unsteady, and it bothered her.

She slowly walked up to the bookshelf. By it was a mop—a stick with a clump of gray cloth at the end—waiting in a bucket of water. She dragged the bucket to the pool of blood and, with a plop, started washing it.

After a good while, the whole cloth was fully red, but the floor was nowhere near clean. So she knelt by the bucket, squeezed the bloody water from the cloth into it, and went back to mopping.

As Theia was busy cleaning, Luna grabbed her head. Lying on her back on the floor, she couldn't help but scream inwardly.

Shut up!

"She's yours, isn't she? You owe her. She belongs to you. You can do anything to her, and I can tell that she won't even object."

"Everyone around you belongs to you. Go stand up and claim them. Use them as you please."

"Take out your frustration on others. They belong to you, don't they? They wouldn't mind, would they?"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

"Eat your hair."

"Treat your belongings with kindness so that they'd feel compelled to sacrifice their life for you in the future. Do it."

Unknown voices sounded from everywhere in Luna's head.

Niva, shut it if that's you!

Luna shouted at him inwardly, a moment of silence, filled only with Theia's scrubbing and her own ragged breath. Then Niva's reply came, hesitant and clear "What? I didn't say anything."

Then who said those? Luna added and was met with a short answer.

"I don't know."

Before he added, "They say when people hear voices they've gone crazy. Heh, I won't leave you even if you are a little crazy."

Niva!

"I'm sorry," Niva apologized inwardly, his voice cracking. "I really don't know what you're talking about. I hear no voices around you. I just wanted to make a small joke. I'm sorry."

It's okay… It's just… it's so loud. I can't with them. They are so annoying.

Theia tugged at Luna's legs and pointed at the surroundings. Where there was blood now was spotless, clean enough to spot your reflection.

"Ah, good… job," Luna praised her as she sat up slowly.

The compliment flustered Theia. Her face turned red, her words choked in her mouth as she couldn't say anything. She just gripped her white dress and looked down at the floor.

"Ah, I need to change my clothes…" Luna muttered, and as soon as Theia heard it, she jolted up without waiting and ran out of the room.

"Ah… okay," Luna added.

***

Theia ran into the room with a white dress in hand. She presented it in front of her, hiding her face.

"Perfect…" Luna said. She slowly stood up, her legs shaking as she walked forward. "Please close the doors."

Theia nodded and closed the doors.

Luna sat on the table. "Please come here," she asked. "Please, can you help me change my clothes?"

Theia dropped the dress from her hands, revealing her beet-red face. She swiped her head from left to right.

"Yes… Please help me. I would do it myself… but I can't now, can I?" Luna smiled as she looked up at Theia.

Theia closed her eyes, contemplating hard on this situation. With her ears red, she slowly walked up to Luna.

"Thank you," Luna said. She stood up and turned her back to Theia. "Please, go on."

Theia's arms shook as she slowly reached for the cloth line that held Luna's dress. She swallowed and gripped it, pulling it apart.

***

"Thank you!" Luna said while caressing her new dress while sitting on the wooden table. "...Thank you for changing my dress."

As she said it, she looked to where Theia was, who lay with her back to Luna, covering her face. But yet she could still see her face, It was fully red, as well as her ears.

Luna chuckled and thought, You're so innocent… I felt the same way when Aisha first changed my clothes…

As she thought it, a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. She gripped her stomach and groaned silently, not alerting Theia.

Enough of pain. Theia cannot see me like this.

She took a deep breath in and out and placed a smile on her face.
