Chapter 153 - Lucifer Goes For A Walk Part 3

Lucifer blew open the door to his other self's office.

"Oh, Lucy, I'm home!" Lucifer shouted with a savage grin, his eyes glowing a violent crimson as he strode inside.

Sitting behind a desk, surrounded on all sides by rubber ducks, was a short man with blond hair, red eyes, and skin so white it looked painted on. He wore an all-white suit, a matching top hat, and held a cane topped with a gold apple. He looked up startled.

"Who the hell are you?" the smaller Lucifer demanded.

"You can call me Lucifer, and I'll call you Lucy," Lucifer said with a low chuckle.

"Uh, no. I'm Lucifer," Lucy shot back.

The smile dropped instantly from Lucifer's face.

His wings shot out, the air trembled as his eyes flooded with a dangerous crimson glow. He slammed both hands onto his other self's desk, cracking the wood as he leaned forward and shouted, "You don't deserve that name at the moment. As far as I'm concerned, you're my lesser. A pale imitation."

Lucy froze, eyes wide.

"What self-respecting devil lets angels invade his home, attack his child, lets sinners run around thinking they own the place, that they're more than damned souls?" Lucifer roared, his voice echoing through the office as he loomed over the now-shocked Lucy.

"Your daughter believes they can be redeemed, and she's correct. Some of them can. But there are some that should never even be offered the bloody opportunity, which is why you need to get off your ass and do your job!" Lucifer shouted, his voice rising even louder.

"I can't. Part of my sentence when I was damned to Hell. I can't harm sinners. I can scare them, but that's it," Lucy admitted, his voice dropping, shoulders sagging in shame.

"That ends today," Lucifer said coldly.

He grabbed Lucy by the front of his suit and channeled a tremendous amount of his own power into him. As the energy surged, invisible chains binding the smaller devil began to crack, splinter, and finally shatter. When they vanished completely, Lucy gasped as his diminished strength surged back to its peak, his restrictions burning away.

When Lucy opened his eyes, his face was plastered with a wide grin.

"I've got a lot of work to catch up on. If Charlie wants to rehabilitate sinners, that's fine, but only after I've handled the dangerous ones," Lucy said, cracking his knuckles with renewed confidence.

"How can I ever repay you for this?" Lucy asked, looking at Lucifer with awe.

"Just never sully our name again," Lucifer said warningly as he turned and walked away.

"You got it. Bigger, stronger, scarier me," Lucy said nervously, watching him leave.

------

"Well, Maze, I've had my fun in this world for now. I say we move on," Lucifer said casually, already scrolling through his watch.

"Works for me. If I hear one more person burst into song, I think I might lose it," Maze said, shivering visibly as she folded her arms.

"This one looks good," Lucifer said with a grin as he tapped the watch.

With a sudden flash of light, the two vanished from where they stood.

------

The two reappeared in the dark corner of a warehouse, shadows clinging to rusted beams and concrete walls.

"Where the hell are we?" Lucifer said, looking around slowly, his eyes glowing faintly as he took in the unfamiliar surroundings.

"Shhh. I hear voices," Maze said quietly, her head tilting forward as her gaze sharpened.

The two soon spotted a large group of men surrounding three young girls, their backs pressed together in fear. One had blue hair and eyes, another yellow hair and eyes, and the last pink hair and eyes.

"I'm already getting angry," Lucifer growled, his jaw tightening.

That anger flared into something darker when he saw the men begin pushing a Doberman forward toward the three helpless girls.

"Maze, kill them all slowly and painfully," Lucifer said coldly, already guessing the men's intentions.

Maze smiled wickedly as she drew her daggers, vanishing into motion as she tore through the men with brutal precision, making sure to only slice their tendons and arteries, leaving them screaming on the ground to suffer.

Lucifer calmly walked past the chaos and knelt down in front of the terrified girls, lowering himself to their level.

"Hello there, my name's Lucifer. What's yours?" Lucifer said with a reassuring smile, deliberately ignoring the carnage unfolding behind him.

"I'm Air," the pink-haired girl choked out through trembling lips.

"I'm Luna," the blue-haired girl said nervously, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm Fal," the blonde said, utterly terrified, tears streaking down her face.

"Well, those are certainly names," Lucifer said, momentarily distracted as he wondered what kind of parents would name a child Air of all things.

"Well, girls, I'm going to send you somewhere safe. Close your eyes and count to three. When you do, all of this will be just a nightmare, okay?" Lucifer said gently, his tone warm and steady.

The girls complied fearfully, squeezing their eyes shut, and before they even reached three, they vanished from the warehouse.

Now only Lucifer and Maze stood amid a pile of soon-to-be corpses.

Lucifer approached the Doberman, which was growling low and baring its teeth. He tapped it lightly on the forehead.

"Lunch, doggo," Lucifer said calmly.

Lucifer and Maze walked out of the warehouse as the door sealed itself behind them, leaving only the sounds of a snarling hound and distant screaming trapped inside.

"Now to find out what kind of twisted world we've ended up in, and if I'm going to burn it to the ground," Lucifer said with a satisfied grin.

------

The three girls from earlier slowly opened their eyes to find themselves sitting in front of two men in the middle of a lush, tranquil garden. Sunlight filtered softly through the trees, birds chirping in sharp contrast to what they had just escaped.

Air noticed a folded note clutched tightly in her hands, one she didn't recognize having before. Her fingers trembled as she stared at it.

"Where did you three come from?" Apollo asked.

Air didn't say anything. Instead, she raised the paper higher, holding it up like a shield as her shoulders hunched defensively.

Apollo stepped closer and carefully took the note from her hands, unfolding it.

"To whomever it may concern, I saved these three girls from a fate worse than death that would have been followed up with death and sent them to you. Sincerely, Lucifer," Apollo read aloud, his brows lifting slightly before he let out a quiet breath.

He folded the note and slipped it away, his expression softening as he looked back at the girls.

"Come on, girls. I'll take you to my sister's realm. You'll be safe and happy there," Apollo said with a tired sigh.

Apollo began leading them toward Artemis's realm. The three girls stayed close, trailing just behind him, instinctively clustering together as they walked, unwilling to let him out of their sight.

-------

"So we're in some kind of place called the Empire, and it's so corrupt and full of sin I'm having a hard time believing we're not back home," Maze said, sounding a little shocked as she scanned the sprawling city below.

"Wait, it's just called the Empire? That's either the dumbest or most arrogant name I've ever heard. Either people in this world can't name for shit, or they're full of themselves," Lucifer said, shaking his head with open disdain.

"So what're we doing, boss? Not gonna lie, we can have a lot of fun here," Maze said, staring out at the city with a feral grin tugging at her lips.

"Oh, we will, Maze. I plan to take my time here. I'm going to slowly but surely whittle away the sinners of this empire, starting from the lowliest thugs to the fattest politicians. In the last world, I indulged my love of fun. In this one, I'll indulge my love of punishing evil," Lucifer said with a cruel, satisfied smile.
