The fire was blinding, a searing inferno that cut through the air like a blade. Every step I took forward, I had to force myself through the waves of heat, my skin burning, my boots nearly melting beneath me. Salem wasn't just running from me—he was fighting me with everything he had. His massive form loomed, his claws scraping against the jagged rocks, and he bellowed flames toward me, the air flickering with the force of it.
I barely dodged the dragon's inferno. The fire hit the air with such force that it felt like the world itself was burning. A searing, blinding heat that threatened to consume me whole. The dragon roared in fury, its molten breath tearing through the space around me. I had barely rolled to the side, throwing myself into the dirt, as the flames charred the earth where I had stood moments before. My cloak burned at the edges, the smell of singed fabric lingering in the air like death itself.
