Bologue stood there motionless, and behind him, Palmer pushed him several times with force, only to find he wouldn't budge at all.

What made the two even more uneasy was that the black umbilical cord was slowly squirming.
Bologue remained standing in place, the umbilical cord still moving and changing… It was the other end, the person connected to the other end of the cord, who was moving.
